  1. Hi there! I have a Node 804 based Unraid at the moment using an old MB and AMD Phenom X6. The system is primarily for storing our family photos, source code backups etc, so single parity and 3 or 4 x 4TB data disks. I may want to run VM's at some point, but I have enough other old hardware hanging around that can run Proxmox for that if needed. I want some kind of ipmi and I want ECC (because memories are precious). I have all I need to build a pikvm, but I don't really want to attach anything to the server. My wife and I both have Ryzen based desktops: Me: Ryzen 2600 on a Asrock B450 Fatal1ty. Mostly game only and not demanding games (Old world, EU4, XCom 2, Witcher) Her: Ryzen 1700x on a Asrock AB350 Pro 4. Photoshop, lightroom and less demanding games than me. I use mine infrequently since gaming and staying married don't mix. Both of these have Bios's that can do Ryzen 5000. Option 1: Get Asrock server board in the Node and move one of our existing cpu's over to the Node. Replace with 5700X on the relevant desktop. Option 2: Get Asrock server board in the Node and put the 5700X in the server. On the one hand I think 5700X would be overkill on the server, but I wonder about ECC with the 1700x or 2600. My wife might benefit more from the 5700X for her photo editing... Then the other question: I plan on using this board for a long time, until it dies. I do not need the extra LAN ports on the 2L2T versions. Should I rather go with the X470D4U and spend the $100 I save on the ECC ram. Or should I go X570D4U for some reason? Thank you. UPDATE: I went with the x570D4U and a Ryzen 5600.
