  1. Not what I wanted to hear. Thanks, but I can't currently upgrade and this just adds to the list of things I can't have because of this. :-(
  2. I'm running a VM that I want on a different vlan that unraid and all the dockers. Since I had two networks I figured I would have the switch force the second onto the right vlan. So, unraid is on eth0 and that's on the private networking 192.168.20.x while the vm is assigned eth1 which is put on the other vlan 192.168.50.x. This works but I noticed that the dockers are basically using both available interfaces. If eth1 gets an IP all dockers are accessible on that ip in addition to the unraid one. This this what's supposed to happen? Can I make the VM the only thing that users that interface?
  3. This was from last time. To be clear, 6.2.4 has been stable running for months with zero issues. It's only if I try to upgrade to a newer version that I get this so I can't imagine I have faulty hardware. Things I've tried: * Removed non required hardware. * Fresh install on another USB stick * memtest
  4. 64GB, I'm just copying bzimage and bzroot to the usb directly. I think I tried the gui but when it failed to boot up I got nervous because it wans't clear how to go back. Since then I just copy the usb stick and replace those two files.
  5. I've tried twice (as new versions come out) and when I upgrade I get a kernel panic. Since I can't login I can't get logs and all I can see is what's the screen when it panics. Is there anything I can do to help debug this issue, I really want to upgrade as I'm a few minor versions behind.
  6. What's the best way to get this info? Since it panics I can't login via ssh to copy logs, is there a way I can get them from the stick if plugged into another computer?
  7. Every new version I try and everytime I get a kernel panic and have to revert. Looks like I'm stuck on 6.2.4 which sucks because I'm sure there are some bugs that would be nice to get fixed. Anything I can do about this, seems kind of shitty to have paid for a license and now the hardware isn't supported.
  8. I'm trying to figure out what's causing it. I'm running openhab on a VM and it works fine but what seems to be randomly it looses the zwave usb dongle and the only way it works again is if I shut the vm down, unplug and plug the dongle back in and start it back up. Is this a hardware, unraid or dongle issue? How can I debug this?
  9. Uh. So, that works. So I can't upgrade unraid at all anymore? I'm running an Intel S2600CP2J Motherboard so I'm guessing there are no bios updates since it's so old.
  10. This is SOOO frustrating. My entire house is offline. I just tried removing everything and boot a fresh install..same panic. WTF? How can something just change like that?! Can I download old versions of unraid, I need to try an older (6+ months) since that's what I think I was running.
  11. Looks like I get different things. I tried downgrading, same. I just removed all accessories (graphics, sound, network)..same.
  12. I did the upgrade in the GUI, so it download the plugin what ever that is.
  13. Tried all modes, tried to download a new version form the website but I still get this. No new hardware.
  14. I was creating new VMs (from the ui) and then just moving over the vdisk to make sure I didn't duplicate any special ids like that.
  15. Fresh Ubuntu VM install. Stop the VM, copy the vdisk and I've tried everything getting it to book up under another VM. Basically I want to make 10 out of this one template. I get a boot EFI error.
  16. Wow, I've used -z my entire life and thought since it was just extra cpu it wouldn't hurt but removing that boosted the speed almost 4 times! Damn, now I'm flowing at close to Gb/s. Nice, thanks!
  17. New server is finally setup and I need to start the transfer. I'm starting with movies and it's about 20TB which if I math is right is going to take 5 days. Not horrible but not great either. I ran a test rsync and it transfered 16.5GB in about 8 minutes which is there I got that number. Again, if my math is right that's only like 250mb/s which is pretty low for a GBit network. I'm not sure if it's my network or that I'm not using the cache disk. If I use cache (which is only 300GB) I'm assuming it will fill up before the mover kicks in so I shut it off. Is there a better way to do this transfer?
  18. Great response, thanks. Since this is my second server and It's been all but idle for months now I can wait another week to check the drives. :-) How much memory is needed, I have 64GB so I figured it would be safe to run preclear on all five drives?
  19. Thanks, is using the preclear app still the best way to preclear? I'm running the latest 6.2
  20. Ah, cool. So I shutdown, put all new drives, reboot and choose this option? I'm assuming the array won't start because of everything that has changed so it will be easy to get to this option.
  21. How do I do this new config thing? Cables should be here today and my plan is to just take the old drives out, put the new five drives in and boot it up.
  22. There shouldn't be data I care about, I'm running an ssd cache that has dockers and vms but the data drives are just there for testing/setup and they're old and small, basically left over from when I upgraded my current server. I purchase 5 brand new drives, 3 different orders so they all need to be precleared and tested which takes FOREVER. :-) If could install them and do this all at the same time that would be great!
  23. I've been setting up my second server for a few months and I just got the funds to get the HDs. Currently I have three old ones in there just to get it up and running but all of them will be replaced plus I'm adding two more. What's the best way to do this, do I have to replace parity first, wait until it's all done then replace each of the other drives one by one or is there a way I can do this faster?
