  3. Looks like I made a huge mistake. Just copied files from one unraid server to another (more then 30h of copying) and now seems like I been stupid like hell.

To have a better control over things that I am copying, I simply created a new share and copied all files into it.

Now I wanted to distribute these among the target shares properly and what I see is not a real "move" command for me. Its not just linking files to new locations but actually copies it. So I am doing full copy for the second time like stupid.

Is there a way to avoid it? What is a cause of such behavior? Cant files be left at the actual physical drive where they are and just re-linked?

  4. Hi

I need to move total of 24TB of data from one running Unraid to new one. Both are with 1 Gig connection, same network.

I found out that quickest way for me to do this is to go with standard FTP server as everything is local, no secure issues.

However I see very strange drops in copying files. Goes up to limits of LAN then drops dramatically basically to zero and again and again.

Total speed then is not even close to half of possible one.

Here is how network traffic looks like:

    image.png.557338d28fc6d707951de80a474b6475.png

any idea what could be a problem here? What is a bootleneck?

System I pull data from - NUC i7 10th gen with 32GB RAM and unfortunatelly 2 disks connected via USB 3.0 there (thats why I am moving data)

System I copy to is based on Asrock N100M motherboard (N100 intel) with 1 parity drive on MB Sata controler and 4 SATA on PCIE controller.

  5. Hi

so I need to create new VW with LUBUNTU installed but I have big problem.

Once I create VM all looks fine (br0 direct bridge) but when I save my  config - network interface in config disappears and I see only this:

    image.png.bb6e7c08c22dc93a6ddbbf549135a86e.png

And when trying to install Lubuntu there is no network interface.

How can I enable network interface there? How I can install guest drivers if not having internet connection? Cannot use apt-install.

It never happened to me earlier on my other Unraid server but I installed my last VM few years ago and perhaps I miss something here?

  6. This time (after reboot) its sdf so:

And in unassigned what I see:

  8. I have two NTFS drives with files backup, both are 12TB, same hardware and formatted in same way (my assumption, I do not really remember..) under Windows 11.

One of them is visible in Unraid, second - no, only FORMAT option visible in unassigned devices.

How I can mount it? Need to copy large amount of data and I do not have in this network Windows machine that can see this and copy via network. Wanted to copy via USB enclosure.

    How I can mount it?

Tried with two different UNRAID based systems - all can see other disk, this one is not visible.

    Windows 11 open this flawlessly.

  9. Hi

    I use QNAP TS-453D

Installed plugin: QNAP-EC and then Dynamix Auto Fan Control.

    Can see now fan info:

But in Dynamix Auto Fan control I got this error when enabling and trying to configure one of 2 pwm_controllers:

Warning: file_get_contents(/sys/devices/platform/qnap-ec/hwmon/hwmon4/pwm1_enable): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.system.autofan/include/SystemFan.php on line 40

  11. Hi

I have very bad setup currently (using mostly for Plex + some small dockers and VMs). Bad in such way that I use USB drives...

    Intel NUC 10th Gen i7 + 32GB + 2TB SSD cache + 3x 12TB drives via... USB (2 drives array + 1 for parity).

This is surprisely very stable and I got no issues with this but would like to expand array for next 2-3 drives so I want to move to proper build.

As I love this NUC as docker/VMs and its all configured - I would llike to leave it with cache drive + 1TB internal 2.5 HDD. This will work fine for me and I will not have to move any configuration.

Then build NAS from scratch and move these drives into SATA connection.

With 1Gb LAN - would it make sense for Plex to work from NUC but files located at NAS? How to mount new UNRAID NAS shares into NUC so it is most stable and quick?

And finally then with focus only on power efficency and silence what would you recommend as:

    MOBO, CPU, PSU?

Case would be fractal node 804.

Keeping in mind that this would be NAS only, no VMs or dockers on this - just serve files for NUC and other LAN/WiFi devices.
