  10. Before i disable addons i want to post this last part of the log. Got 6 errors this paritysync and i can see 6 "Tower kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device" Should i still disable addons and try again i will do that. Can it be the seagate that it the problem or any 3tb? smart.txt
  11. Grrr, this time i got 99 errors =( Everything take so much time =/ Its time to remove the drive and reinstall the 2tb and think about what to do. Ill try to connect the drive to a usbdock connected to my laptop and see if i can run some error checking software from Seagate. EDIT: Just realized that i got 2 movies (50gb) on my cachedrive that cant be moved to the diskpool because thats not enought free space. Can that cause the errors? Well im removing them and trying to make a paritysync again. EDIT2: I ran SMART extended test and it completed without errors.
  12. System Overview unRAID Version: unRAID Server Pro, Version 5.0-rc11 Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-MA78GM-S2H Processor: AMD AthlonTM Dual Core 4850e.K - 2.5 GHz Cache: L1 = 128 KB L2 = 128 KB L3 = 512 KB L4 = 0 KB Memory: 4 GB - DIMM0 = 800 MHz (1.2 ns) DIMM1 = 800 MHz (1.2 ns) DIMM2 = 800 MHz (1.2 ns) DIMM3 = 800 MHz (1.2 ns) Network: 1000Mb/s - Full Duplex Uptime: 2 days, 8 hrs, 6 mins, 5 secs Running bios F4 and vill update the bios as a first step. The new drive is connected to the motherboard on SATA0. When i first got the drive i connected it to the cheap 4p card i got from dx.com and run the first preclear and it went fine but the preclear speed was 80mb/s on that card and like 140mb/s on the motherboard (ofcorse thats megabyte not megabit =). This is the sata card http://dx.com/p/silicon-image-4-port-sata-pci-expansion-card-4660 and i got one more with 2 sata and 1 PATA that came with a drive a couple of years ago) No problems until now with the new drive but i will update the bios and get back after the parity sync.
  13. ok here they are syslog was to big to attach but here it is: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5314933/syslog.txt preclear_finish__Z1F1TQZ5_2013-03-17.txt preclear_rpt__Z1F1TQZ5_2013-03-17.txt preclear_start__Z1F1TQZ5_2013-03-17.txt
  14. Hi I need more storage and i bought a new 3tb Seagate drive (ST3000DM001) to replace the 2tb wd i were using as parity but i cant get it to work as a paritydrive. I removed the 2tb WD green that was paritydrive and run preclear on the new one and then added it as parity and started paritysync. It all locked fine up to 75% then i went to bed and then when in the morning it showed a redball and said 2 errors. I ran preclear again, made a logfile just in case then added the drive and started paritysync. It looked good up to 70-80% but later its the same again. 2 errors and redball =( Any idea? Attaching the log from the second preclear and a screenshot. /Magnus https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5314933/Tower-Main.png smart.txt
  15. smartctl -a -d ata /dev/sda | todos >/boot/smart.txt Gave me a new smart status file. Looking good as far as i can se. Ill attach the new file so you can double check. smart.txt
  16. Thanks for the quick answers =) Love this forum =) I dont hade a spare drive but i if i read right i just have to do the steps you discibed in the list? i dont have to preclear the drive im using again? Rebuilding the drive now. Can i verify that the disk is ok when the rebuild is done? Mayby do a paritycheck and if i dont se any errors everything is ok? puh unraid isnt for everyone that needs a nas =P
  17. Starting google.com Searching for... "create syslog +unraid" "Post a SMART report for disk +unraid" DONE =) smart.txt syslog.txt
  18. Hi Im getting some errors on disk 5. Installed the paritydrive yesterday, synced it and run paritycheck. That drive is the only drive that is connected to the 2port sata card (parity +1-4 is on the motherboard) Should i be worried? All drives exept 1+2 was precleard with no fault. Can it be sata cable or powercable? https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5314933/errors%20paritycheck2.png
  19. Yes im going to use the same flashdrive and i upgraded from 4.7 to the latest 5.0 just 2 days ago.
  20. Sorry if i was unclear in my question. i was woundering about the order the disks should be connected to the sata ports on the two motherboards not if the drives should be connected to raid/sata card but thats really goot to know too. But i guess i got a answer anyway. I can connect the drives in any order but i should assign them i the order that they are connected now? thats the only important thing?
  21. Hi. Im going to move the unRAID drives to a new computer but have a question about how to connect the drives. The computer im using now as server was my workstation before my laptop and hade a lot of drives in it but i removed them all but keeped the cables connected. When i wanted to try unRAID and just plugged in 2 new drives (not paying any attention to sata port numbers) Now i know more about unRAID and bought pro licenses. Just checked the cables and the first datadrive is connected to sataII:0 and the second to sataII:2. (not using paritydrive yet) I know i should have connected them as 1 and 2 and saves 0 to parity. Is there any problems to connect the drives to the same ports om the other motherboard, connect the parity drive to sataII:1 and a new drive to sataII:3 ? Just happy that i didnt connected any drive to the fifth sata port (sataII:4) because the motherboard im going to use now only have 4 sata (0-3) What would happen if i did that? /Magnus
  22. Thanks for the quick and good answer =) Now i can go to sleep and sleep good. (its 02:30 here in Sweden =)
  23. Hi, new to the forum and havent run unRAID for a long time either. Recently i bought 2 external wd drives and wanted to try unRAID. I removed the drives from the cases and installed unRAID 4.7 (free version) on a spare computer. Im using the 2 drives as data drives and no parity atm. The drives are WDC WD20EARX-00PASB0. Now i just bought 2 pro keys and want to begin adding drives. Just upgraded to 5.0-rc8a from 4.7 and did some reading and saw that both my drives are MBR: unaligned. . What i understand from THIS thread and this: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=22271.0 is that i do not need to empty the drives, run preclear, and change to MBR-4k option and the fill them up? I Really want to be sure before i starting to add more drives But what i should do is to change the MBR option to 4k so the drives im going to add i getting the 4k option? The two drives are 100% full now and if i can, i dont want to get them empty and redo it all. Should i add 4tb more, move all stuff directly from disk1 and disk2 to disk3 and disk4 (when they are added) and make drive 1 and 2 MBR 4k Also i didnt preclear the 2 drives =( The reason that i did the sloppy job is that i just want to try unraid quickly and then redo all if i liked it. Just copyed some stuff from my Netgear server that i dont like and was full. But then i put more and more new stuff on the unRAID server =/ I store 4tb in a folder named "temp" in the server so i also have some sorting to do =P Long story short, do i need to redo the 2 drives or is it just to change the setting to 4k and begin to add drives? And yes im going to add a parity drive asap =) English isnt my native language, hope you understand =) /Magnus
