[Plugin] FolderView Plus
FolderView Plus Quality of life/Feature Update v2026.03.22.07!This is the next mainline rollup after 2026.03.22.07, and it includes new features, Dashboard improvements, preview/layout work, settings UX cleanup, and a round of bug fixes based directly on user reports. New Features- Added a new Legacy Dashboard widget view for both Docker and VMs. - Legacy shows the native Unraid rows inside the Dashboard widget, effectively bypassing FolderView Plus grouping for that widget only. - Added per-folder Preview rows for Docker so folders can show more than one row of preview members before clipping. - Rebuilt Docker multi-row previews with a dedicated renderer instead of reusing the old single-row/cloned layout. - Added richer Docker member actions in folder previews and expanded members, including start, stop, pause, resume, restart, WebUI, console, logs, and update actions. - Added per-folder chevron styling controls. - Added per-folder chevron color controls for both normal and hover states. - Added the option to use either a Minimal chevron or a Boxed chevron style. - Added per-folder preview vertical bar thickness control. - Added per-folder preview border thickness control. Dashboard- Added Legacy as a real layout mode in the Dashboard action rail for Docker and VM widgets. - Legacy is persisted like the other Dashboard layout modes. - Reworked Legacy switching so the widget restores native rows locally instead of forcing a full loadlist() refresh. - Scoped Dashboard rebuilds to the affected widget type so Docker and VM widgets do not interfere with each other. - Fixed the Dashboard action rail disappearing while switching into or out of Legacy. - Fixed the remaining flicker where the action rail could briefly disappear when leaving Legacy for another layout. Preview / Runtime UI Improvements- Fixed clipped started-count text in folder rows such as 9/9 started. - Improved spacing and right-side gutter handling so status text and controls have enough room. - Reworked Docker multi-row previews so they wrap by available width instead of awkward fixed item grouping. - Restored more natural centering, spacing, and row balance in multi-row previews. - Kept single-row previews on the richer original layout while multi-row mode uses a compact purpose-built layout. - Improved compact multi-row previews so names, status, and actions stay readable and do not collapse into one stream. - Restored proper WebUI fallback behavior for preview globe actions when containers only expose fallback metadata. - Kept multi-row status text readable by avoiding over-aggressive font shrinking and color misuse. Chevron / Border / Readability Improvements- Fixed the chevron hover state disappearing against the default Unraid background. - Restored the boxed chevron option for users who prefer the old bordered button look. - Added normal and hover color controls for the chevron/button styling. - Added adjustable border width for preview boxes. - Added adjustable divider/bar width between preview items. - Improved default preview readability on stock Unraid alternating row backgrounds. Settings UX- Reworked Docker and VM settings table columns with more stable width/layout controls. - Replaced fragile drag-resize behavior with cleaner Name/Actions width presets and layout controls. - Made sort mode and view-related table settings apply immediately instead of waiting on staged save. - Removed the old floating save pill and replaced it with a simpler fixed action bar. - Removed the outdated Mixed apply badge and tightened section apply indicators so they only appear when truly needed. - Continued cleanup of settings messaging and update notes presentation. Reliability / Compatibility- Hardened plugin manifest/update handling so Unraid update checks are more reliable. - Added separate stable/dev/beta channel metadata handling. - Expanded release automation and validation guards. - Added more regression coverage around Dashboard layouts, multi-row previews, settings layout controls, and preview rendering. - Continued refactoring shared runtime pieces so Docker/VM behavior stays aligned and easier to maintain. Fixes Included In This Rollup- Fixed 9/9 started and similar status text clipping. - Fixed chevron hover visibility on default Unraid backgrounds. - Fixed preview borders and vertical bars being too subtle on light alternating rows. - Fixed Dashboard Legacy transitions feeling slow because of full widget refreshes. - Fixed Dashboard quick-action rail disappearing during Legacy transitions. - Fixed one Dashboard widget affecting the other when switching Legacy. - Fixed multiple Docker multi-row preview issues involving wrapping, spacing, alignment, clipping, and action placement. Testing- Added targeted regression coverage for the new Legacy Dashboard layout and transition behavior. - Added regression guards for Docker multi-row previews and preview overflow behavior. - Expanded settings and runtime coverage to reduce layout drift and release regressions.

I added a new Dashboard widget view called Legacy in the latest update v2026.03.23.09. It’s available for both Docker and VMs and shows the native Unraid container/VM list as if FolderView Plus was not organizing that widget. It should now appear alongside the other Dashboard view modes in the action rail. Please test switching into and out of Legacy on both widgets and let me know if the behavior looks right on your setup.

I was able to reproduce the three issues you called out: The started-count text can clip in some layouts, such as 9/9 started. The chevron hover state can disappear against the default Unraid background because the hover color is not contrasting enough. The vertical bar and preview border lines are too subtle on stock alternating row backgrounds, especially with no custom CSS. I’ve addressed these in the new latest release v2026.03.23.09. The container count now has enough room to render cleanly, the chevron/button styling has been restored so it stays visible and gets a proper bordered box again (But remains defaulted to minimal without the border box (Can be changed in advanced settings)), and I’m adding controls so the chevron colors and line thickness can be adjusted instead of being fixed. That includes the default state, hover state, and stronger borders for the vertical bar / preview lines so they remain visible on the standard Unraid theme. Please test it again and let me know if anything is still hard to read.

Yes, I'll look at these issues and implement a legacy view (and a few other new ones). I also have a big quality of life update coming with multi-row folder view support for folders with tons of containers.

[Plugin] FolderView Plus
The latest main release is v2026.03.22.07. Are you on dev? Check the plugin description to see if that's the case; if so, then uninstall and install the main.

[Plugin] FolderView Plus
This is updated in the latest release. v2026.03.22.07 Please update FolderView Plus and test the folder editor with: Preview -> Only icon (clean) What changed: - The old extra preview-detail control was removed - The existing Preview dropdown now handles the clean icon-only look directly - “Only icon (clean)” should hide the member names and started/stopped text in the folder preview Make sure the options in red are disabled after changing Preview to "Only Icon (Clean"). Please let me know if that gives you the exact layout you want.

[Plugin] FolderView Plus
The short answer is you can't; it defeats the point of FolderView Plus. I can create another custom dashboard view and call it "Legacy". That way, it only shows you the Docker containers/VMs individually and not the folders, if that helps.

GUI ExportUse the FolderView2 UI export, then import that JSON into FolderView Plus. - The maintainer’s migration path is to export your settings, then use Import in the new plugin to bring them in. - For the older pre-FolderView2 plugin, if the UI is broken, the fallback files are docker.json and vm.json under /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/. What to do1. Open Plugins > FolderView2. 2. In the settings page, click Export All for Docker. 3. If you also use VM folders, scroll to the VM section and export that too. 4. Save the exported JSON file(s). 5. Install FolderView Plus. 6. Open FolderView Plus > Settings. 7. Use Import and select the JSON you exported from FolderView2. 8. Verify Docker folders first, then VM folders if you use them. If FolderView2 is broken and you cannot export from the UI - I could verify the fallback JSON path for the older Folder.View plugin: - /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/docker.json - /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/vm.json - I did not find a source explicitly documenting the equivalent on-disk JSON filenames for FolderView2, so the safest documented path is still exporting from the FolderView2 settings UI. Terminal fallback for old Folder.View onlyls -l /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/ cp /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/docker.json /boot/config/plugins/docker-folderview-backup.json cp /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/vm.json /boot/config/plugins/vm-folderview-backup.json

You should uninstall the old FolderView plugin first, then install FolderView Plus from CA. FolderView Plus includes legacy import/compatibility handling, so in most cases it can read older FolderView data and bring your folders/settings forward, but I still recommend treating it like a migration instead of assuming a perfect in-place swap. Recommended path:1. Export/back up your current FolderView config first if possible. 2. Uninstall the old FolderView/FolderView2 plugin. 3. Install FolderView Plus from CA. 4. Open FolderView Plus settings and verify your folders/imported config. 5. If anything does not come across cleanly, use the import/restore tools in FolderView Plus. So the short answer is:- Yes, it is designed to make migration from older FolderView versions easy. - but uninstall the old plugin first and make a backup/export before switching, just in case. Please let me know if you run into any errors or issues during the migration.

FolderView Plus has had a major update since the last forum post, focused on fresh-install onboarding, smarter folder creation, better auto-assignment, VM parity, mobile fixes, and wizard polish. HighlightsAdded starter templates for fresh installs on both Docker and VMs Added category-based template selection so new users can deploy logical starter folders faster Added a dedicated Templates step to the Setup Assistant Greatly improved smart detection / auto-assignment for existing containers and VMs Smart detection now uses stronger signals like: app/container name image compose/template metadata bind paths labels broader aliases and keyword matching Added confidence + review-needed handling, so weak matches are no longer silently shoved into fallback folders Wizard dialogs were cleaned up and now show clearer summaries for: created folders auto-assigned items review-needed items unmatched items verification results Other improvementsBetter Docker / VM feature parity Better mobile behavior and iPhone-specific fixes Better theme compatibility and light-theme handling Fixed plugin description/i18n placeholder issues Improved folder-name handling, spacing, and clipping behavior Added stronger regression coverage so smart-detect and wizard behavior don’t drift This release should make first-time setup much easier and make smart organization much more reliable for existing installs, too. If you test it, I’d especially like feedback on: starter-template onboarding wizard smart-detect accuracy Docker vs VM parity mobile behavior custom/light themes

Thanks for reporting this. I pushed a fix in v2026.03.21.20 (main) for the fresh-config folder editor issue. What was fixedOn brand-new installs (no imported config), newly created folders could be saved but then opened in a “partial/sparse” state, which caused edit actions (custom icons and related controls) to fail or appear unresponsive. The latest release now normalizes new folder data before binding the editor UI, so Docker and VM folders created from a fresh config are fully editable. Please testUpdate to v2026.03.21.20 Start with no imported config Create a new Docker folder and a new VM folder Open each folder’s Edit dialog and test: Built-in icon selection 3rd-party/custom icon selection Rename + save Optional nested child create/edit If it still fails, please share: A screenshot of the edit modal Your exact create path (Settings page vs Docker/VM tab) Browser/device used How to export config:Go to the Settings page > FolderView Plus > "EXPORT"
-
[Plugin] FolderView Plus
Ohhhh, I see what you mean. When you create a new VM folder from settings, it doesn't let you click on or customize anything when switching to the VM tab. That's a bug I didn't realize, and I'll resolve it and let you know once I push a fix.
-
[Plugin] FolderView Plus
Can you give me more information? What is broken? Is it only on the VMs tab? What are you trying to do?
-
[Plugin] FolderView Plus
What version are you running? Could you elaborate on what you're experiencing and how to reproduce it? Also, can you share your export config?

Thanks for reporting this and for the screenshot. Root cause: the Setup Assistant wizard was inheriting host theme text tokens from Unraid. On some themes (including Dynamix Color Theme: White), which produced low-contrast text on the wizard’s dark background. This is fixed in FolderView Plus v2026.03.21.03. What changed:- Isolated wizard text tokens from host theme tokens (so host theme colors can’t override wizard readability). - Enforced wizard-local dark color scheme and explicit contrast-safe text colors. - Added regression tests so this cannot silently break again with future theme updates. Please update to v2026.03.21.03 and re-test the Setup Assistant on your theme. If anything still looks off, send a new screenshot, and I’ll patch it quickly.

Are you using a theme and if so which one? I’ll look at this and provide a fix.

Thanks for the detailed report — this request-guard issue has been fixed. Root cause:Some environments strip/alter custom headers, so requests to prefs.php / bulk actions could fail guard checks even when called from the UI. Fix shipped: - Server guard now accepts either: - X-FV-Request: 1 header, or - _fv_request=1 marker in POST/query payload. - Client mutation requests now always include _fv_request=1 and token fallback. - prefs.php, bulk assignment, and folder create/update flows all use the guarded request path. Status:- Fixed in 2026.03.16.08 (March 16, 2026). - Still present in the latest release 2026.03.17.06. Please update to the latest, hard-refresh the browser (Ctrl+Shift+F5 Cache Refresh), then retest: 1) Toggle Lazy previews / Performance mode 2) Bulk move items between folders If you still hit a 400 guard block, please share: - plugin version cat /boot/config/plugins/folderview.plus/version) - exact failing endpoint from browser Network tab - latest php log line And I’ll investigate immediately. Please post issues on GitHub.

Not currently, but if you make a feature request on the GitHub page for this, I can add it. The only way currently is to set the color to match your background so it blends in.

I accidentally pushed a /dev/ link instead of a /main/ link. This has been resolved and it’s back in the CA store. I added a guard to prevent this in the future.
