  1. Hi I've gone into Settings FTP. I have enabled the FTP server. I have created a user and assigned a password, I have allowed them read/write to a single directory. In the FTP settings I then typed the user. However connected locally to the LAN, and using a different PC - I cannot login to the FTP server. I use a local LAN IP as the host. I use the username and password which is the same as above. I use port 21. It says connection refused by server. Any ideas?
  2. So this is what I learnt for anyone else using the post. eth0 is the primary and eth1 is the secondary. 1. The one you need to be primary - select the MAC address in "Interface Rules". 2. In "Interface eth0" select bonding members of bond0 and select eth0 and eth1 with all the settings correct, and active-backup enabled. 3. eth1 then changes its layout and just says member of bond0. 4. plug both ethernet cables in and check the router which MAC address is correct, for me the 10G was (after adjusting it to eth0)
  3. Hi All I am on the very last part of my build; and I have a small issue with the Ethernet ports. eth0 is 2.5G eth1 is 10G I would like eth1 to be my primary port, and should it fail for any reason eth0 becomes a backup. Current Settings: eth0 eth1 When I plug the network cable in the 10G and drop the cable from the 2.5G - I loose connection via the web browser on another networked PC. I know the answer is somewhere in these settings but I'm not exactly sure which things are wrong. At a guess possibly bonding members of bond0 and should I set eth1 to bond? If so which bonding mode should be set for eth1. Thanks Chris
  4. Weirdly had the same error at 160 Smart Report of Extended Test added. TBH i have no idea what I'm looking for - nothing jumps out in surprise! ST6000VN0001-1SF17Z_Z4D2SDV0-20210603-2236.txt
  5. Extended test about to be started, great thinking!
  6. Hi All I've had the following occur - 197 Current pending sector 0x0012 100 100 000 old age always never 152 198 Offline uncorrectable 0x0010 100 100 000 old age offline never 152 Its not long happened after a full parity check which found 17,496 errors - I'm guessing this is far from normal. I've had so much happen over the last few weeks from a large transfer from to NAS's to multiple hard drives. Backing up all data as backup drives. Memory failure and all. I appreciate this means a sector has died from reading other posts and it is no longer being used; I'm assuming this is the start of a decay of the hard drive. I get the next question will be how long is a piece of string - but I'm still going to ask, roughly how long have I got to replace. I'm conscious that replacing a parity drive; I want to buy new and large. Given Chia - HDD prices have rocketed (I've been tracking prices for a few months especially 14 and 16TB Exo's). I'm wondering if its best to hold off. Given current costs I very much doubt I'd Parity drive 2 shows old age as well 187 report uncorrect. I know the gold star is to buy, but I would probably consider a interim power down term for a few months until I can afford and repair. Would appreciate your thoughts, have I got a time bomb here, am I in panic mode, or when would you suggest the optimal point is to replace? Cheers Chris haccnas-diagnostics-20210602-2105.zip
  7. Hi just an update before I close the post; I was fairly lucky as a lot of the files I had transferred to the cache but not transferred cache to the array as I thought. I was easily able to identify corrupted stuff as the moves left on the cache - were the corrupted files (the move from cache to array was done with the new ram in). So I have no idea, but its sorted now. I lost about 40GB overall. I have slowly been working my way back to repairing the damaged of the corrupt VMs taking regular backups - this is where it hit me hardest (in time and effort). Unfortunately I received a new error tonight which I'm going to no doubt raise with you pro's again (I'm not having much luck!) Thank you all for you kind help and support.
  8. I'm having a really bad day. Neither VM worked; I have decided to format. But for now the server is OOA, and wont be switched on until new memory modules are bought. I'm purely to blame for this; I bought second hand DDR4 and now paying for it! 30208 errors at 21%. I wouldn't mind if you could just tell me what you meant about corrupt data in the other pool. I sent over a number of TV shows to the download_cache then ran mover to the array. Is it safe to say that that now my array has some corrupt data as well? Sounds to me like I need to delete the files I sent across to my data drives, and will need to format the system_cache and download_cache all again (after replacing ram). Once I hear back, I'll mark this as SOLVED and want to thank you for your help.
  9. Ok I will give it a shot, would it be worth trying mounting the other nvme? Or does it mount in a mirrored pair? With the RAM should I run memtest?
  10. I have spoken to soon. appdata and system no issues with the copy 1 of 3 VM's transferred, but the 2 I really needed did not. 2 of the 3 ISOs did not - but in fairness I can redownload (I'm not excessively worried) but would like to recover the VMs. Should I move onto init log tree, or should I try something else?
  11. Oh thank goodness; honestly my nerves! I'm copying everything across in MC (as per your instructions) into a new usr/share now. Copying it. What would you suggest my next step? Should I move to step2 - BTRFS restore (safe to use) or should I format which I think is what I need to do, and then once formatted move it all back, and restart the server? Please PM me or let me know your paypal email too, buying you a few pints - its the least I can do for not loosing my VMs.
  12. Hi @JorgeB Forgive me, my ability isn't there. Here's what I tried: mkdir / x mount -o degraded, usebackuproot,ro /dev/nvme0n1 /x I just want to check before I move to BTRFS restore (safe to use) step - that I've done the command correct? I'm happy to pay for your time on this, with the help you've provided - you deserve a couple of pints anyway for it all.

  14. Hi This morning my place had a power cut, after rebooting - I am now no longer able to mount my system_cache. My system cache had: appdata domains isos system It was mirrored to harden it on loss of a drive. I only transferred across to the new setup on Monday, yesterday I spent my time sorting the remaining files, and plex. The only backups I managed was libvert.img and my usb drive - it was on my to do list today. I don't want to loose those VM's really. One had HomeAutomation software which I had all registered. Brand new server and this happens, I am gutted 😔 Can someone please give advice?
  15. I'm going to mark this as solved and say thank you, there's 96GB of data to transfer so it may take a bit! But now you've explained it - I've realised why it wasn't moving. Use Cache Yes (but ensure its on Download_cache - the prior SSD). Before I had System_cache on so nothing was moving; sort of obvious with hindsight but very confusing no knowing the above! Then when this is complete - I will select prefer but with System_cache (NVME), and hit move the 2nd time. @jonathanm thank you for your kind help again 👍
  16. Hi All I've created a new pool of 2x FireCuda's at 1TB - this will be for system cache. I have 3 shares in this example - appdata, domains and isos which are stored on Download_cache I want to move them to System_cache. Docker and VMs are disabled. I have tried YES: Systen_cache and Prefer: System_cache, goto Main and hit Move. Nothing is moving across. Am i missing something really simple? Thanks Chris
  17. Awesome thank you. I uninstalled NVIDIA driver. Reinstalled Nvidia GPU Top. Restarted the machine in normal GUI. And yes its booted correctly into the GUI. Thanks @SimonF
  18. I will do but I thought this was only for dockers?
  19. Hi All I have changed my motherboard and removed my graphics card (GTX 770) - I am now using a HDMI port on the motherboard with a 10900K. However now I cannot boot the GUI - I just see a black screen on the HDMI out with a flashing white CarriageReturn space. I'm sure this is fairly simple but if you could help I would appreciate it. It happens in GUI (normal) and GUI Safe Mode (No plugins). Thanks Chris
  20. Hi terribly sorry to bother but I did an additional full parity check and got the followings errors - is this something I should be concerned about? I don't really know what this means?
  21. Hi Morning I ran a parity check and a question popped into my head. My current understanding is that drives are rebuilt from a check done based on an even number of bits which can reconstruct missing data, when the data is shared across multiple drives. The parity fills in the gaps with a check and can essentially be used to rebuild data. This is my fairly low understanding. I have set up nearly all my drives with shares in a folder stored on single drives within my pool, for example: movies are only on drive A. TV shows on drive C, documents will only be saved on drive e. Now because of this one drive setup, I couldn't work out how data could be rebuilt, because its not rebuilding gaps of data but whole pieces of data? I guess this is a quick sanity check to ensure I haven't completely undermined the point of having the parity drives, and data shared across multiple drives. Cheers for answering what probably is a daft question. Chris
  22. Hard drives changed, no data loss and parity 2 rebuilt Topic marked as solved.
  23. Ah! Right well I like your plugins too! 😁🤣 I have installed intel-gpu-top and nvidia-driver (I used spaceinvaders videos) and just stumbled on intel_gpu_top. Terminal currently tells me nothing working with a very old quad core2 @2400MHz as youd expect. So I haven't actually tested intel-gpu-top as I haven't installed my new CPU yet but from what I see it looks good and the NVIDIA driver plugin is brilliant (not sure i fully understand but it seems essential for the equipment and it foung the GTX750 drivers). I bought the 10900K and I'm waiting on a super micro motherboard C9Z490 to ship from US. 2Pcie will be for HBA controllers (16 hard disks). 2PCie for the 750 and 1660 I have. So the motherboard has both DP and HDMI ports on it. So the idea (and remember I've not tested yet) HomeSeer Ubuntu VM - baremetal GTX750 - hdmi used for automation control screens. Plex Server/Kodi FrontEnd in VM Ubuntu using HDMI port for Kodi (it goes into 4K HDBT matrix distributed around house) - baremetal GTX1660 (I believe manages 5 transcodes unlocked but locked at 3). Then either the (usb-c to hdmi adapter) OR motherboard HDMI (iGPU) will probably be for the UNRAID GUI (which i may be able to utilise as part of the VM). The 10900K has QuickSync for transcoding and I believe is considered iGPU. I now believe although still cant find info on - that transcoding is done either on NVEC or IGPU, but not both! So if I've completely got it wrong - bare with me, do educate me! Just remember I've not got the motherboard yet to learn and there is so much info out there!!! I've no idea which will be better for transcoding. That said my original post was just about seeing multiple graphics cards on the dashboard 😂 and thank you b3rs3rk
  24. Yes I clearly didn't do it; isn't it funny how nerves can throw you so much! I am resyncing now, and will look at fixing my shares "Included disks" - also now have a pro licence and the next big one will be the real migration to the new motherboard and case Thank you for your help
