  1. Sorry if this is a silly question, as it seems obvious.  I've scanned through the Github docs, and don't see any ref there either...

How do I get access to computers on my local network, to choose them as the source/target for a sync?

In my situation, I need to sync from a folder on a PC on my LAN (old server) to my new server (unraid).

This seems super basic, but the docker doesn't seem to be able to see my network devices at all.

Thanks for the cool docker, and any help you can provide.

  2. So this is super weird.  I recently switched ISPs at home, and now have cellular internet through T-Mobile.  I previously had DSL.
My new service is WAY faster (both down and up) than the DSL.  However, when I connect via ZT to my office, things are super slow.

I mean, even basic Windows explorer directory browsing takes much longer than it used to, and transferring files is almost not worth doing. A common workflow would be to copy a batch of photos from my work server to my local machine.  Let's say it's 20 files, totaling around 120MB.  On my old (terrible) connection, this transfer would take maybe 2-3 minutes.  On my new, much faster, setup, it takes maybe 20 minutes.  Transfers stutter and pause, and when they do work, the speeds are in the low KB/s.

Nothing has changed on either end of the config, except for me switching to the new ISP.
Any ideas what may be choking ZT?

  3. First off, thanks for the awesome plugin!

Second, I'm so sorry if this was already covered somewhere back on page 20 or whatever. :)

I read the last 3-4 pages and didn't see anything...

    Anyway, here's the issue:
TS is up and running, and I can access my unraid GUI and shares remotely.  However, this is only the case if I disable my Windows firewall on my client machine.  I thought TS was supposed to pierce firewalls and such?
I use Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control (awesome free software, btw), which allows me to quickly toggle states on and off.  If I toggle it off (or even lower the profile from 'medium' to 'low' filtering), I can connect without issue.  If I go back to my default 'medium' filtering state, it blocks TS completely, and I get a Windows "unable to connect"-type error.
I've already given TS express permission for both inbound and outbound traffic, so I'm not sure why it's not working.  Any ideas?

  4. That does sound nice, and I may give it a shot for personal testing purposes.  However, I'm using ZT for work, and all our client devices are already configured.  It would be nontrivial to convert to TS, and convincing the owners to drop our ZT license and jump to another provider would also be a challenge.  I need to use whatever they use, for ease of setup and compatibility.

I have reviewed all the previous posts and unable to find one that allows me to access my unRaid server through the zeroTier Docker container.
    .....
I am not looking to just access the unRaid webGUI, but also the network shares I have setup.

I asked the same question, and got no answers.
I spoke to ZeroTier support about this, and they directed me to this support article: https://docs.zerotier.com/integrating-physical-networks/

I did not find it helpful, perhaps you will.  If you get it figured out, please share! :)

As I recall, this being enabled has given problems in the past...     (I assume that you have macOS computers on the network otherwise its use can cause be problematic.)

Oh? Interesting.  I can turn it off, it just seemed like a good idea to have on, for performance.  As for macOS, no, we don't have any Macs in the office.  We do have iPads and iPhones, so I figured it couldn't hurt.  That may have been in error, though.

EDIT:  I was wrong, SMB multichannel is OFF.  I had intended to turn it on, but never did.  Only the macOS switch is on.

Honestly that doesn't look like an Unraid issue to me, but see if you can get diags from when the issue is occurring.

All due respect, but I don't see how it can be anything but.  The rest of the office has no issues connecting to the old server, or each other.  It's only the 'new' (unraid) machine that has issues.  My definition, that almost has to mean that it's the problem, no?

It has been so long since I used WIN7....

The Win7 box has no problems connecting to the office.  It's the new unraid machine that is having trouble maintaining a connection to the rest of the office, including the old server.

But to answer your question, the old Win7 server is running SMBv2 and a lightweight sFTP server for our our large format scanner.

  8. Not really.  It's a bit random.  Sometimes the shares will remain available for hours, other times, I'll lose access within a few minutes.  After a while, they will come back.  It's very odd.  I'm pretty sure it's not a general network environment issue, since our old server, sitting right beside the unraid box, and connected to the same switch, has no issues.  The only difference is that's it's running Win7.  Unraid is the only major variable.

Unless there was a glitch at some time, I don't think that's the case.

As stated by itimpi, it is only to be used when debugging a specific mover issue, not constantly as it will flood your log and prevent proper anonymizing.

I don't know what to tell you.  I know I never enabled it, since I didn't even know it was there until it was pointed out to me in this thread.

This is basically a brand new install.  I've only done basic setup, installed a couple containers, and started copying data over from my old server.

I'm guessing I should turn it off and try the diagnostic export again?

  10. I would have, but I didn't know how, until you just linked that helpful guide. :)

I tried dumping the diags, but it took forever, then gave an 'out of memory' error and failed.

It seemed to be trying to index the entire contents of the cache drive for some reason.  Is that normal?

I'm not really comfortable with it sending a full file list of everything on that drive anyway, since my company does work for the DoD, and there are rules about what data I can and can't release.  I have read the regs closely enough to see if it extends to file names, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

  11. So I'm setting up a new unraid server for my company's office.  Everything is working okay, except that their old 'server' as well as several of their desktop workstations are Win7 boxes.  I can connect to the unraid shares just fine...for a while;  maybe 20 minutes or so.  However, when I'm trying to transfer data from the old server to the new one, after a few minutes, I lose connectivity to the new unraid box.  I can still see it in Windows explorer on a Win7 box, but I can't browse it.  I get an error that "the connection has not been restored", or similar.  Oddly, after a while, the connection will come back for a bit.  Any idea what might be going on here?

syncthing is a replication tool, not a true backup

Noted, thanks.  I'm not really trying to 'back up' these photos, per se.  I'm just trying to avoid having to plug in a cable, launch explorer and wait for the thumbnails to index every time I need to download photos from my phone to my desktop, which is often.  This way, all the photos I take will eventually end up on my server, and I can just pull them from there.

    Try Resilio.

Thanks, I'll look into that.  I'm playing around with SyncThing right now, and so far, it's working okay.  It's a bit more complicated that I'd prefer to get set up, and I don't love the android app, but it appears to be doing the basic backup fairly well.

  14. So I've done quite a bit of searching, and oddly, haven't found a clear answer to this.

All I want is to be able to automatically dump any and all photos from my Android phone to a specific share folder on my unraid server.

I used to use Dropbox, and it had pretty much this exact feature, but it came with a lot of extra baggage, so I ditched it.

Lots of the older links I found suggested NextCloud, but that seems to be just as bloated and cumbersome to set up as Dropbox, and is probably way overkill for this one simple task.

I thought about Seafile, but looking at the 2 available dockers; 1 is outdated, and the other looks sorta complicated, as it requires a custom network and a separate DB/SQL server.

Surely there must be a simple solution for this, no?

Someone please tell me I'm missing an obvious solution! :)

To be clear, this is for an Android phone, and needs to sync continuously (or on-demand would be okay also) over wifi.

EDIT:  For anyone coming across this later, the solution (for me) is SyncThing.  It's not the most intuitive thing to set up, but it works fine once you get it all sorted.  The Android app kinda sucks.  I can't comment on the iOS version, since I don't use Apple products.

so the container is running just fine and your qbittorrent app running in your vm is not

The container is connecting correctly at the moment, but it wasn't as of last night.  I have no idea why it suddenly started working, unless there was an update overnight and I didn't notice?  I'm concerned that it'll break again in the background and I may not notice.

As for the VM, I get that it's not directly in-scope for this thread, but I thought maybe since the config was so similar, you might have some insights.

  16. Here's my Docker run and log file again.  Seems to maybe have gotten lost in the shuffle. :)

Anyone have suggestions for helping clear the firewalled status of my qBT?

I did figure out that my VM isn't really involved, although it's firewalled as well.  I'm actually running 2 instances of qBT.  One is the one that's hosted by this docker, and is accessed via the webUI.  It's connected to my *arrs.  The other is a desktop client I have installed within a VM, that I use for various random manual downloads like Linux distros and such.  I had confused myself by forgetting that I had it set up that way. lol

Regardless, they are both listed as 'firewalled' now, so something has changed recently on the backend.  I'm guessing it might be related to my change over from Mullvad to PIA, except that it's been working with PIA just fine for the past couple weeks, and the firewall icon has only appeared in the last couple days.  The only changes I'm aware of have been container updates to this docker.

EDIT:  OK, super weird.  I just checked, and the webUI for this container is now showing connected, no firewalled icon.  However, the one on my VM is still firewalled.  I've checked that I have the correct forwarded port (from PIA) entered into qBT.  Not sure what else I'd need to do...
