  1. The crashes are rare so hard to test. I hope the BIOS update ended up fixing it otherwise not sure what else to do. Oddly the crashed only happened when pre-clearing.
  2. Just did 2 passes with no errors so I assume RAM not the issue. Is there a good way to test the CPU on Unraid?
  3. Had another crash, this time num lock worked and GUI was not frozen but unraid would not prompt for password after entering username. System froze after starting pre-clear on a second disk. After reset I was able to start pre-clearing all 6 disks with no freezing. I see segfaults in the log, is this the cause of my issues? Would appreciate advise how I should proceed at this point. Please see attached syslog. syslog-192.168.0.100.log
  4. I should add that it appears the parity sync progress is actually working fine while pre-clearing a disk until formatting a disk, then you loose progress. Cancelling pre-clearing fixes it again.
  5. No crash so far but I found another issue that's potentially related. I figured I should create a new topic as the symptoms are very different: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/187971-parity-sync-progress-and-pausestop-stuck-when-pre-clearing-another-disk/
  6. I am syncing parity and later started to pre-clear another 18tb disk. I later notices that the parity progress was stuck at 3.5% / 991GB even though all disks were being read/written to at around 250mbps. I tried hitting pause several times and then stop but neither had any effect. Diagnostics download also got stuck on the smartctl command for the 18tb disk being pre-cleared. I then stopped the pre-clearing which seems to have fixed both issues though annoyingly cancelled my sync even though the button had no effect when pressed at the time. I also tried formatting a disk multiple times but it had no effect, just shower it as formatting but then nothing not even an error. After I stopped pre-clearing disk is formatted already. Is this a bug with Unraid or something I can fix on my end? unraid-diagnostics-20250310-1330.zip
  7. I have a really frustrating issue that happened 3 times now. The most recent happened overnight when I started parity sync after replacing all drives I wanted to upgrade (had no parity drive for a couple of weeks). The Web UI and SSH were unreachable, the GUI over iGPU (slim command) was frozen (at parity 7.5% sync so it happened after a few hours). Even the num-lock wasn't working on the keyboard or the power button. I had to hold the power button to force a shutdown. The drives were still active so I assume parity and pre-clearing were still happening. What can cause Unraid to freeze like this but still continue parity sync and pre-clearing? I have recently upgraded motherboard/cpu/ram/psu though had no crashes for about a week after that while transferring data. Anyone have any idea where to start looking for the cause? Unraid version 7.0.1 Diagnostics don't appear to have anything from before latest boot. unraid-diagnostics-20250310-1054.zip
  8. I have been trying to add a parity disk for almost 3 months now but it seems there is always an issue with this. Previously I used some sata ports on the motherboards which definitely caused some problems with un-mountable disks, seemingly failing disks and even data corruption. Parity rebuild would be so slow it would take over a year to complete. I have now added 16-port Adaptec 71605 controller in HBA mode and for a few days now no errors and all drives work perfectly with no smart errors or any indication of failing at all. The issue is that as soon as I added a parity disk I had millions of errors in a few seconds on 4 of the disks. Trying to browse it showed "No listing: Too many files" though I did see some root folders just nothing listed under them. I tried stopping the array and then disk 6 was actually missing from the system entirely. Rebooting allowed me to mount all drives as normal with no apparent corruption or un-mountable disks. Starting parity check again worked for a few minutes with all drives being read/written from/to at their max speed but few minutes later millions of errors on 2 of the drives again. Disk 9 was missing this time until reboot. What is going on here? System has 400W PSU and no issues during boot with even 12 drives attached (now 10) so unlikely to be power related. Parity disk is new and like all disks have been pre-cleared. No SMART errors and no disk errors (since HBA installed). I am lost as to what else this could be... unraid-diagnostics-20210826-1045.zip
