  1. hey all - just tagging along. I can't believe there isn't an easy way to backup synology nas to an unraid server. I assumed I could mount my unraid share as a network directory and just backup to it, but nope. Scripts scare the pi$$ out of me so that's a no go. If anyone has found a way to do this, please tag in and let me know. I've got like 40TB of space on my unraid box just sitting here and a synology that I would like to copy over to it.
  2. I've been off unraid for probably 18 months or so, but I've got a Threadripper 12 bay server that's just sitting in my office in pieces and I've got excess electricity from my solar array so I'm going to fire it up to mine some monero. Debating a windows VM with nicehash or monero mining vs. this docker - can this docker still be used in 2023? Looks like it's kinda abandoned. I might just install portainer, but figured chucking in all my extra drives into unraid would be a bit easier.
  3. Unmanic install - under libraries click plus to add. Browse to folder that I wish. When I get into the folder that I want there is no save button so I click close. Message pops up: Failed to save settings and new library cannot be created.
  4. Thank you - was able to boot up a linux dist on an old machine and that seems to be working. Will look at that above further as will be easier on mac. Appreciated.
  5. Unraid system is down. One of the benefits (I thought) of unraid is that the data is all contained within an individual disk. However my plan to put the disk in an external USB caddy and transfer files off is not working because my (Mac) computer doesn't recognize the disk. How can I get the data off the disks? I tried to create a new USB unraid disk and startup a new system but I got the dreaded Unraid installer doesn't recognize the usb drive problem. I've spent all afternoon trying to copy data off this disk and have jumped from one problem to another - really appreciate if anyone can help. I do not have any windows machines in my home, but in a pinch I could run parallels if that is what is needed - was my next step but one more hassle.
  6. I am going to install Truenas scale as I've been unable to nail down the instability of my thread ripper based system on Unraid. However I'm not completely confident it will go well - the support seems to be pretty dicey. So if I decide to come back to Unraid, is there a way to backup my system before I wipe it that will allow me to basically restore everything to the way it is right now (all my dockers settings, plugins, etc) if I reinstall Unraid?
  7. Running a server board with all ram timings default. Never overclock. All memory is ECC, on the approved list for my motherboard and memtested.
  8. So I ran in safe mode no plugins - about 3 days and it just crashed again. Server went offline 15:42. new diagnostics attached. Unless I can get an explanation as to the instability, I'm afraid I'm going to have to install Truenas Scale. monster-diagnostics-20220327-1748.zip
  9. @bonienl Rebooted to safe mode - will see. Unfortunately that seems to have disabled the Nvidia plugin so some of my dockers are not working as they rely on it. Is it possible to enable just some plugins?
  10. I moved to RC2 to fix docker networking problem that was crashing my server. Seemed to be better for some time. Have since updated to rc3/4 when available. Having almost daily crashes often overnight when nobody is using server. Completely offline and off the network, cannot connect. Server went offline again 06:36 am today. I've got syslog server turned on but in the syslog the last entry was from 2 hours before it went offline. diagnostics attached. I'm beyond frustrated at the instability of my server. About ready to give up. appreciate any help. monster-diagnostics-20220324-0948.zip
  11. If you are pulling from rust you may be seeing the max transfer speed of the drive. Remember it’s not raid. did you try a nvme or ssd cache drive transfer?
  12. I think he means don’t assign from unraid. It will acquire from DHCP server
  13. "Coin prices are unavailable from AllTheBlocks, so no fiat conversion in Machinaris currently." that's ok, you don't want to look anyway...
  14. Too simple but you aren’t using a breakout cable from mini sas card are you?
  15. I've had this error. I have multiple 16TB drives filled mostly up (100-200GB left). No idea why is there but I don't like the sounds of it either.
  16. Had this before and it wasn't showing reason for locks. Set up a syslog share on cache SSD set to cache only and activated via local syslog server: not seeing any files in the share, how often is this updated?
  17. I'm about ready to ditch this project. Although changing to RC2 and macvlan to ipvlan changes seems to have decreased the number of hard locks of my server I had yet another one overnight and now when booting I get the message seen below and server won't boot. I'm using a server board, ECC ram that has all been tested, top quality hardware. It's extremely disappointing that when the server crashes I can't do troubleshooting of what happened because the logs all disappear. Server right now is completely offline . Can anyone explain :
  18. Have you installed the network drivers within the VM? Maybe this is wrong, but if you install the virt_io drivers in the os then you should be able to add the NIC from there and select which one you want to use. At least that's how it works in Windows VM, not sure what OS you're trying to VM.
  19. I had the same issue with at least weekly crashes and unclean shutdowns. The docker network fix suggested by JorgeB was what was recommended to me and after doing it, I've not had the same issue. I'm not happy about having to run a RC OS on my main data storage, but it is what it is. (have had no other issues, AFAIK) - been running probably 1-2 months that way now.
  20. So after changing to the new NIC everything else works on the LAN when the unraid server is plugged in or not? Definitely do not enable any VLANS that must makes more things that can go wrong. If everything else is working except the unraid server: You need to look at your MAC address of the server (or the new ethernet card if you’re using that). Make sure that only 1 port from the computer is plugged in at a time. Look in your router to see where that MAC address is assigned and see if it’s reserved or any other settings are applied. See if you can ping that address from another device on the network. Check your firewall rules to make sure no rules are being applied to that MAC address/IP I dont run unifi routing so can’t help you with any specific settings. If you have the same problem where everything goes down on the network when you plug a single cable into the NIC in your unraid server then make sure you try other ports on your router. If that fixes it then you’ve either got a bad port or you have a setting messed up (like an uplink or something). If that doesn’t fix it then it would seem you’ve got something misconfigured in your router or switching.
  21. Sounds like a bad NIC. Reset /update bios network options, try a PCIE one if you happen to have. I suppose the unraid driver could be corrupt so a reinstall might fix as well. You could do a Rufus USB linux boot and try with that, if everything works with same hardware / cables and bios then I would reinstall Unraid or look further into unraid networking settings. I know I’ve had issues with it and had to change to the latest release candidate and change ipvlan settings to fix some stability issues there.
  22. You are making these changes to reserved in your router? What is your subnet defined as? Have you tried setting IP fixed to .107 on the Unraid box?
  23. Have you tried a different cable? could be a network loop. Do your router ports LEDs show nonstop traffic when you plug in the unraid server? Do you get the same issue if you don't run docker or VM but just unraid itself?
  24. Yes you do not need two NICS. those with more expertise might argue using a second would be more secure as there are some potential security issues but unless you are setting up actual separated subnets with different physical switching most of those are going to exist in the vlan world anyway and unless you’re a very high value target those with the skills to actually penetrate those vulnerabilities will likely be looking elsewhere.
