Unraid 7.2.3 - Share Names: Can't use spaces or any special characters
๐ก There has to be some setting or config somewhere in Unraid I can change this! If it can or will conflict with ZFS, then logic dictates that any existing shares with conflicting characters shouldn't be allowed either. If those shares are still allowed then....I don't know what else to tell ya

Unraid 7.2.3 - Share Names: Can't use spaces or any special characters
This is a bit of a weird one and it probably seems pretty basic, but it's pretty important to me ๐ฃ I'm not sure what changed, but for some reason I can't create shares with spaces or '-' anymore. As you can see, I have literally *heaps* of shares with spaces, '-' and special characters but now it won't let me create anything like that. It's a feature I *desperately* want / need. Can anyone help me out with this please? Thanks!

AMD Threadripper - Can't Boot From USB - Missing Operating System
* turn off secure boot (the "EFI" Folder is not used then anymore) completely = Tried this * turn on CSM with booting from legacy devices = Tried this * use an USB-2 port for the stick (this is mainly to save electricity and to keep it cool. It will live longer this way) = Tried this * try to boot from the stick = Tried this

AMD Threadripper - Can't Boot From USB - Missing Operating System
Ok, that didn't work A) Had an old USB 2.0 bracket. Plugged that in and ran the USB from that, but I still get the error B) With Secure Boot enabled and the keys installed, it doesn't pick up any bootable drives

...I'm going to try something. Not something you've suggested but something else. Get back to you.

AMD Threadripper - Can't Boot From USB - Missing Operating System
Secure Boot has always been disabled. CSM was enabled, I tried disabling it but then it didn't pick up any bootable drives. For my BIOS, I don't get any options like that for Secure Boot. I've just enabled it and cleared / reset the keys, I'll try saving these settings.

AMD Threadripper - Can't Boot From USB - Missing Operating System
Got a Threadripper system that's kinda spare and I want to try out Unraid 7.0. My plan is to trial Unraid using the free 30 days thing. I've tried a bunch of different USB sticks, but every single time when I try to boot from the USB drive, I get: "Missing Operating System. Reboot and select proper boot device." It's picking up the right USB drive. I'm using the official Unraid USB creator and I'm not changing any default settings. I've even tried running that "make_bootable.bat" file when the USB is created. Motherboard is running the latest BIOS. CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920x MOTHERBOARD: ASRock X399 Taichi RAM: 32GB DDR4 (2x 16GB) What am I missing here?

Upgrade Parity Drives (x2)
What's the best way to upgrade the parity drives? I currently have 2x 10tb drives and I've picked up 2x 12tb drives. Do I just shut the server down, remove and replace the parity drives and have it do a rebuild? Or are there some settings / configs I have to change before I power the server down? Thanks all!

Unraid in VMWare Workstation - Device eth0 does not exist
Yes, yes, yes...I know! This is *very* left of centre and probably not at all how it's intended to be used. BUT it's a project I'm playing around with and I'd really like to see if I can get it working. *Device eth0 does not exist* - VMWare Workstation Pro 17 I'm trying to get Unraid working as a VM on my Windows 11 machine. It's booting successfully from my USB stick but no matter what I do, it won't get an IP address. I've tried: Changing from NAT to Bridged (onboard NIC is 2.5gbe) Tried a USB-C 1gbe adapter Tried an Intel 1gbe PCIE NIC I disabled all other NICs aside from the Intel one Sooo.......?

VDisk Bus - Virtio: Windows 10 Doesn't Detect Drive To Install To
The frusrating thing about this whole situation was that I already had a Windows 10 VM, but it crashed. I'd start it up but it wouldn't boot into Windows. It would either go to the recovery menu or BSOD with inaccessible boot device. I'd had it for months and I'd followed a couple of SI1 videos setting up VirtFS but for the life of me, I couldn't remember how I got it to install Windows in the first place. Now I'll remember - change IDE to SATA for the install CD / iso

I have been banging my head against this for like...two DAYS straight. That was me just facerolling over the keyboard. I switched it from IDE to SATA and now it's detecting the drive as it should. What the fudge cake banana.

VDisk Bus - Virtio: Windows 10 Doesn't Detect Drive To Install To
Errr....what's the syntax for listing the directory? It's in my 'isos' folder but I can't figure out how to write the directory properly in the Unraid console. I keep getting 'no such file or directory'

VDisk Bus - Virtio: Windows 10 Doesn't Detect Drive To Install To
I'm doing something wrong here but I just can't figure it out. I'm trying to create a brand new Windows 10 VM from scratch. I have the latest VirtIO driver iso and set the following: Primary vDisk Location: Auto Primary vDisk Bus: VirtIO Boot Order: 1 Windows doesn't detect any drives to install to, even when I try loading drivers from the VirtIO iso. If I change the vDisk Bus to SATA, it works and Windows shows a drive to install to. My understanding is that VirtIO is superior but regardless...what am I doing wrong? Why can't I install Windows 10 using VirtIO? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Weird Error When Creating A Share With Special Characters
Hi All, This has been bugging me for agggggeeeeees but I thought I'd finally see if I can get to the bottom of it. When I create a new share AND put a special character in the name, I get this weird error. The special character is usually '&' or '-' or '()' The share is actually created, so I can't figure out where this error is coming from or why. I really would like it to go away! Thanks all!

Unraid Game Streaming
Unraid Game Streaming Does anyone here use their Unraid server to stream / play games on other computers? If you do, what's your setup and how well does it work? Currently all my Unraid server does is run Plex but I'd really, really like to expand and build on its capabilities to stream games. I've got an AMD Radeon 6900XT that's currently being unused. I tried to follow this guide, but I've gotten stumped at one of the later steps so I've currently abandoned that particular approach: https://forums.serverbuilds.net/t/guide-remote-gaming-on-unraid/4248/199 Thanks!

Remote Gaming On Unraid - Editing XML Assistance Requested
This is really, really niche so I completely understand if no one can help. This is my side project with my spare PLUS license: https://forums.serverbuilds.net/t/guide-remote-gaming-on-unraid/4248/2 I'm stuck on Section 8, part 11: Each device starts with <hostdev mode=... and ends with </hostdev> The black brackets are host devices. There should be one host device for each device we passed through earlier. The red line is the physical bus, slot, and function the device is assigned. The blue line is the virtual bus, slot, and function the device is assigned. Note they are all on the same physical bus (magenta circle) --- Coding is NOT my strong suit. Here's my XML file / output and I'm really confused...lost at what parts to edit. I have an AMD 6900XT: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <domain type='kvm'> <name>Windows 10 - Gaming Streaming</name> <uuid>766e0ccd-d5a3-a8af-d88b-1217f02f6f36</uuid> <description>Windows 10 VM For Gaming Streaming Test</description> <metadata> <vmtemplate xmlns="unraid" name="Windows 10" icon="windows.png" os="windows10"/> </metadata> <memory unit='KiB'>16777216</memory> <currentMemory unit='KiB'>16777216</currentMemory> <memoryBacking> <nosharepages/> </memoryBacking> <vcpu placement='static'>11</vcpu> <cputune> <vcpupin vcpu='0' cpuset='6'/> <vcpupin vcpu='1' cpuset='1'/> <vcpupin vcpu='2' cpuset='7'/> <vcpupin vcpu='3' cpuset='2'/> <vcpupin vcpu='4' cpuset='8'/> <vcpupin vcpu='5' cpuset='3'/> <vcpupin vcpu='6' cpuset='9'/> <vcpupin vcpu='7' cpuset='4'/> <vcpupin vcpu='8' cpuset='10'/> <vcpupin vcpu='9' cpuset='5'/> <vcpupin vcpu='10' cpuset='11'/> <emulatorpin cpuset='4'/> </cputune> <os> <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-i440fx-7.1'>hvm</type> <loader readonly='yes' type='pflash'>/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x64/OVMF_CODE-pure-efi.fd</loader> <nvram>/etc/libvirt/qemu/nvram/766e0ccd-d5a3-a8af-d88b-1217f02f6f36_VARS-pure-efi.fd</nvram> </os> <features> <acpi/> <apic/> </features> <cpu mode='host-passthrough' check='none' migratable='on'> <topology sockets='1' dies='1' cores='11' threads='1'/> <cache mode='passthrough'/> </cpu> <clock offset='localtime'> <timer name='rtc' tickpolicy='catchup'/> <timer name='pit' tickpolicy='delay'/> <timer name='hpet' present='no'/> </clock> <on_poweroff>destroy</on_poweroff> <on_reboot>restart</on_reboot> <on_crash>restart</on_crash> <devices> <emulator>/usr/local/sbin/qemu</emulator> <disk type='file' device='disk'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw' cache='writeback'/> <source file='/mnt/user/domains/Windows 10 - Gaming Streaming/vdisk1.img'/> <target dev='hdc' bus='virtio'/> <boot order='1'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x03' function='0x0'/> </disk> <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source file='/mnt/user/isos/virtio-win-0.1.229-1.iso'/> <target dev='hdb' bus='sata'/> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='1'/> </disk> <controller type='pci' index='0' model='pci-root'/> <controller type='sata' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x0'/> </controller> <controller type='virtio-serial' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x05' function='0x0'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='qemu-xhci' ports='15'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x0'/> </controller> <interface type='bridge'> <mac address='52:54:00:6f:f8:5c'/> <source bridge='br0'/> <model type='virtio-net'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02' function='0x0'/> </interface> <serial type='pty'> <target type='isa-serial' port='0'> <model name='isa-serial'/> </target> </serial> <console type='pty'> <target type='serial' port='0'/> </console> <channel type='unix'> <target type='virtio' name='org.qemu.guest_agent.0'/> <address type='virtio-serial' controller='0' bus='0' port='1'/> </channel> <input type='tablet' bus='usb'> <address type='usb' bus='0' port='1'/> </input> <input type='mouse' bus='ps2'/> <input type='keyboard' bus='ps2'/> <audio id='1' type='none'/> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <driver name='vfio'/> <source> <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x03' slot='0x00' function='0x0'/> </source> <rom file='/mnt/wd500gbnvme/Navi 21.rom'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x06' function='0x0' multifunction='on'/> </hostdev> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <driver name='vfio'/> <source> <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x06' function='0x1'/> </source> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x06' function='0x0'/> </hostdev> <memballoon model='none'/> </devices> </domain>

***URGENT ASSISTANCE*** - Activated & Transferred wrong license!!
2 hours, 43 minutes. It's an old 8TB Seagate drive. It's been running since last night. I'm in Australia. I may as well let it finish.

***URGENT ASSISTANCE*** - Activated & Transferred wrong license!!
Hi There, I need **URGENT** assistance. I have TWO Unraid licenses - one is Plus and the other is Pro. My main Unraid server uses the Pro license. The Plus license has been unused for over a year once I upgraded and built a completely new server for the Pro license. Last night I spun up and built another Unraid server to use the Plus license for a project I'm working on. As I needed a new flash GUID thing, I've accidently activated and transferred the wrong license. So instead of activating the unused PLUS license on a new USB drive, I've activated and transferred the PRO license!!!!!!!!! This means I can't activate, reach or use my MAIN unraid SERVER! I need URGENT URGENT help please! This means that the current USB drive for the main server has now been blacklisted. MAIN Unraid Server - PRO license now with a blacklisted USB drive PROJECT Unraid Server - PLUS license I need to transfer the server with the Pro license BACK down to the PLUS license I need to REACTIVATE my MAIN server with the PRO license and REACTIVATE the USB drive it's currently using. Thanks!

Just A Little Bit Of A Random Question About Unraid...
Just got a really, really, really quick...easy question I'm trying to figure out about the Unraid USB installer...trying to wrap my admitedly small, simple brain around and figure the logic here So apparently Unraid / MyServers doesn't like and won't work with Firefox..... SO WHY DOES IT SHIP WITH IT AS THE INBUILT BROWSER?! I have an old, unused Plus key and I'm TRYING to spin up a new server for a project. But I can't replace the key and assign it to a new USB drive...BECAUSE THE GUI DOESN'T LIKE THE BROWSER IT'S SHIPPED WITH.
