Problems with shrinking array and other issues.
@JorgeB I really appreciate the suggestion to go back through the cables. The first time went through them with the first drive failure I had been using one of those sata power extensions. My power supply only has 6 sata power connectors and I have 7 drives in the machine. I guess the extensions were causing problems because as soon as I reconfigured the power for each drive to come straight from the power supply cables, the parity sync kicked off just the way it was supposed to. I still had to use an extension for one drive but I will keep an eye on it. Thanks again for the suggestion. I will be adding in the previous drive that I thought was bad. When I ran the smart on that drive, it never showed any errors or failures. I thought that was weird but of course I didn't know the cables were an issue. Parity sync did finish successfully.

Problems with shrinking array and other issues.
I will go through it again in a little while and check the cables. I did that early on with the first disk but hopefully I missed something. Thank you for the response.

Problems with shrinking array and other issues.
I have been digging through the forums here and trying to find answers to my specific issue. Initially I had what I saw as a failing drive. Because I had enough space to absorb the loss, I went through the documented process for shrinking the array and removing the affected drive outlined here https://docs.unraid.net/legacy/FAQ/shrink-array/ The problem I have had is one that seems to be a moving target. I completed the process outlined above but then the parity rebuild just hangs forever and I am now seeing errors on a different drive from what I saw before. initially the problems were with disk 4(sdb). Now, during parity rebuild the errors seem to be on disk 1(sdg). Again, parity seems to be getting stuck and my fear is that I am going to lose some or all of my data. If there is something I have missed in my efforts please let me know. My log is attached. Your help is appreciated. unraid-diagnostics-20240528-1235.zip

Data is viewable on individual disks but not in shares or over SMB
As soon as I repaired the file system for disk 2, most of what had disappeared was available again in the share. I guess this shows that I really do not understand how unraid works and what to do to fix the issues I have. There are still some items missing but I think I had backed them up before I did the fs repair on disk 2. I may still have some issues restoring the data that is missing but if I can get that sorted I will mark this problem as solved in the next few days. I appreciate the help and suggestions!

Data is viewable on individual disks but not in shares or over SMB
This is the output of the command. File check on disk 2 gave me a huge output of stuff that I didn't understand but definitely did not look good. I guess I need to figure out how to repair that single disk now? Trying to wrap my head around a lot of this. I do ok with smaller issues but this has been an issue that has really kept me from using unraid for anything the last couple of weeks. I don't want to do something that loses a bunch of data that, for now, is present but is in the wrong place. disk2_FS_check.rtf ls -la :mnt:user.rtf

I did try New Permissions but that did not change anything. I have not checked the filesystem yet but will try that in a little while.

Data is viewable on individual disks but not in shares or over SMB
The data shows if I go into the web UI and click on specific disks. For instance disk1/4kmovies shows all content as I had it before. If I go to user/4kmovies data is not viewable. unraid-diagnostics-20231012-1257.zip

Data is viewable on individual disks but not in shares or over SMB
I have been searching through a lot of posts to see if I could find my exact issue and do my best to get a solution. About 2 weeks ago I used the unbalance plugin to try and even out some usage on the disks I have. Once that was completed, I realized that the data on some of my shares was gone. If I log in directly to the web UI and just view each disk, the data is there. The shares are empty. I am not sure what happened and how to fix it. I (wrongly) was under the impression that if I moved the data to a different disk, it would still be visible in the share it was in. If there is something I can do so that I don't completely lose my data I would be very grateful to anyone who could point me in a good direction for a fix. Thank you.

iCloud Picture Downloader Docker Template
I got it working now. Not sure how I did it but the data is downloading to the share correctly.

iCloud Picture Downloader Docker Template
I am so lost. I do not understand how to create or where to place this .mounted file everyone is talking about. I am scouring all of the comments and the official information but I am missing something completely. I have a share named iCloud on the array. Does the .mounted file go in the share? Again, I feel like I am missing something. Sorry if I have overlooked the information I am looking for.

[Support] SpaceinvaderOne - Macinabox
This could have been the problem with some users but for me, it gave the error from the first time I tried this method. The extra 3 times I tried this it gave varying errors along with the usage error. What I get from this is the fact that there are a lot of people trying this and the Apple ecosystem doesn't like it. I appreciate the response. Maybe I will give it another go in the future but for now I will stick with my macbook. Thanks!

First, let me say that the guide from Spaceinvader One is thorough and well explained. Second, I am either experiencing difficulties with hardware or configuration. I have gone through the process 4 times and have difficulties every time. I change only the items that need to be changed at the appropriate step. I can get through the install process of Big Sur but, once complete, I cannot get the vm to consistently boot correctly and, once it does boot into BigSur, I am unable to login with my apple id. At one point, after complete installation, I got an error that the machine had been used too many times to complete the appleid login. You might ask if I verified that I had an invalid serial number when checking coverage in Opencore Configurator. The answer is yes, I made sure I had an invalid serial number. So, not sure what any of this means but not sure I will try again. I have a 2017 macbook air but my hope was that I could have the vm run in the background from my Windows machine to have iMessage and other apps available. I have not added any real specifics about my issue because I am no longer trying to get this working. Maybe I will try again in a few weeks. Good luck to you guys who are getting it figured out. I run a dual xeon 5630 system with 20GB of ram.
