  1. How do I do a syslog without a gui or unmenu. My only access is putty.
  2. I have tried rebooting both systems. I also did a ipconfig /flushdns as well still not luck I can get to the system via tower using telnet but the website
  3. I just tried upgrading to 5.0 final from 4.7 I formatted the flash and copied the files for 5.0 ran makeboot, copied old config folder. I verified the ip address of the server. I can telnet to it and login. The web page with ip address or name does not work and times out. I also tried an empty config folder only with a key file and that has not worked any better. Ideas
  4. Thank you for the help I ran the rebuild tree and took 13 hours to finish. It completed with a lost and fould that i expected. about 30 gig lost and 40 or directories to fix. All in all not to bad considering how bad it looked from the beginning. I wonder why it happened, as I had run a parity check on the system only days prior and it was clear. Do love unraid as it this was raid5 I would have kissed 16 terabytes bye bye.. John
  5. I got capture of most of the output of reiserfs. It scrolls the screens server times and tried to add them together. John reiserfsck-best.txt
  6. Thanks for you help. When I ran reiserfs it went for many screens and scrolled off the top so I posted the bottom. How I gather all the info? Edit I figured how to log the full session. I will post it about 20 min that it takes to run. Thanks
  7. I am running 4.7 and had a drive crash this week. I had run a parity check days before with no errors. I replaced the disk and did a preclear on it. The disk was rebuild as I thought was normal. I say a bunch of errors scrolling on the screen. Do I need to run reiserfsck with the rebuild tree option or something else ? the last part of the reiserfsck report -root@Tower:/# root@Tower:/# the problem in the internal node occured (62420499), / 70 (of 168|/ 18 (of 170- block 75922546: The level of the node (58391) is not correct, (1) expected -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' root@Tower:/# -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' > root@Tower:/# the problem in the internal node occured (75922546), /103 (of 168|block 1769144 35: The level of the node (16136) is not correct, (2) expected > -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' > root@Tower:/# the problem in the internal node occured (176914435),/ 14 (of 21// 88 (of 138/ /159 (of 164|block 6271956: The level of the node (50999) is not correct, (1) ex pected > -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' root@Tower:/# root@Tower:/# the problem in the internal node occured/ 15 (of 21|block 219705351: The level of the node (56732) is not correct, (3) expected -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' root@Tower:/# -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' > root@Tower:/# the problem in the internal node occured (219705351), whole subtrfinished > -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' > root@Tower:/# Comparing bitmaps..vpf-10640: The on-disk and the correct bitmaps differs. > -bash: Comparing: command not found > root@Tower:/# Bad nodes were found, Semantic pass skipped > -bash: Bad: command not found > root@Tower:/# 41 found corruptions can be fixed only when running with --rebuild-tree > -bash: 41: command not found > root@Tower:/# ########### > root@Tower:/# reiserfsck finished at Sat Aug 31 16:41:48 2013 > Usage: reiserfsck [mode] [options] device reiserfs-check-partial.txt
  8. I reran reiserfsck and I got many errors. They scrolled off the screen. It took about 20 min to run. reiserfs-check-partial.txt
  9. I had a working 4.7 system on Tuesday with 10 disk. A party check had been run recently with no errors. I lost a disk on a night that I had added a lot of data to it. When I noticed it, I shutdown the system properly. I replaced with a new drive and did a preclear. I put the new drive in the array and started a rebuild. The rebuild looked good but now the replaced disk has many reiserfs errors. I would to be either able to copy most of data off the simulated drive with party or rin a reiserfsck to fix/ I am wondering what is the best course from here. 10. MyMovies can do a scan of all drives to download metadata and fanart. It might doing that scan after you open it. I have mine set to only scan from one pc and when it opens it will spin up all drives. It accesses all the drives to get new farart and check what is still in the libary. you might try opening collection management first and let it run to add all the new movies and fanart. When it is finised then try a movie. John
  11. Just guessing but i would think it would be your issue as there is a reason why it dropped to 100. Dropping packets and resending will kill network speed. One bluray alone can use over 40 percent of a 100 connetion. Copying to the server will use 100% leaving nothing for the playback. Ripping a bluray uses 150% of 100 meg or 15% of 1 gig. Unmemu has some nice tests built in it for real time speed for disks and network speeds. john
  12. It apears that you have a 10/100 network card in the system. When you copy a file to the system, you would saturate the network. This would cause problems for other connections as they would have to wait for network time. I can record in HD on a disk, play back HD from that same disk. My system at the sametime will have an exchange server running in a virual machine as well as a untangle router package. This is not a problem on it. My will slow down at times when it is scanning for new media and setting up fan art for Mymovies or xmbc with its database also on the server. My system specs are a core 2 duo proc 8 gigs of ram, 9 2 tb drives all green. The big difference it is all 1 gig. When ripping blurays I see about 15% network usages which is 150% of what a 100 meg connection can handle. John
  13. It would depend on use. If your were ripping to the same drive as trying to play a bluray from there would be issues as the disk is trying to write and read and read the bluray at the same time. If your were ripping to one and reading on the other than no issue. Spindles do help to distrubite the load around. I have one disk for sage recording that are live or just been recorded ( PVR if you will).I then have other disks with material by by type blu, dvd or recordings from sage that are saved off. Plus one more disk for crashplan backups, exchange server VM vmdk, and online videos saved. I also use a Cache drive for a XP vm for goofing with and an Untangle VM for routing and spam filtering. Scanning of media is the biggest unknown load on the system and will cause a hickup or 2 during playback of movies/recordings. When copying a recording off the live disk to the archive disk and trying to watch a recording and record at the sametime has issues too, but that can be expected. John
  14. The most likely reason it did not see it with a wrong subnet mask is the broadcast address was wrong. IP networking will broadcast on the highest ip (ie 192.168.1.255 with a mask of 255.255.255.0) of your mask was 255.255.0.0 then is would broadcast on 192.168.255.255. The broadcast is looking for other pc on the same subnet. A DNS server on the network would return those not needing to broadcast for the LAN. Networking is fun so they tell me. John
  15. I have an UnRaid server running 24/7. It hosts 3 VMs from virual box. I also record in HD realtime using SAGETV. My system is growing with about 1200 movies as a mix of DVD, Bluray, and Dishnetwork recordings. The NAS as holds database for XBMC, Popcorn hour, music, and backups with crashplan. I do not have performance issues enless scanning the media for adding new fanart using MYMovies. I can playback HD on one SAGETV while recording in HD. HD playback while ripping a movie and recording still not a problem. I will also transcode using airvideo to me iphone while doing the others with pefection. I am using a core2 duo processer with 8 gigs of ram and 10 seagate low power 2 terabyte drives. dont worry be happy as they say. John
  16. On version 4.7, you should be able to log in via telnet or on the system console type /root/mdcmd initconfig then, answer "Yes" to its prompt. (capital "Y", lower case "es") then type: /root/mdcmd set invalidslot 8 Next, refresh the management web-page. It should show disk8 as red, the others as green. Then, start the array. It should reconstruct disk8. (you should be able to press "Refresh" to follow the progress) If you do not see "writes" to disk 8, press "Stop" as quickly as possible. (It should be reading from all disks other than 8, and writing to 8.) NOTE: these instructions will NOT work as described for any of the unRAID 5.X series. Joe L. Thank you for the help. It Worked and and the server is rebuild disk8 now. I did not need the mccmd part of the command . It made a few write to parity and disk4 when it first started then went to only write to disk 8. I owe you a beer or 2 or 3 ... john
  17. its is 4.7 I tried to post the syslog but it not show here it is syslog-2011-12-29.txt
  18. My unraid server lost disk4 in the middle of the night. When I stopped and restarted the server a second disk failed. Disk 8 the second disk failure does not past POST. I have put a new precleared disk in the system to replace disk8. Disk 4 passes post and passes smart test. I would like to know if there is a way to reset disk4 to make it valid again. I would then be able to rebuild disk8 from parity. If that is not possible my next step would be to copy off data off disk 4 and save it to another disk. that is not the est option as I would then loose all of disk8 because I would loose all of the data on disk8
  19. New drive for disk 8 is precleared and ready to go. The syslog is in the second post. How do I make disk4 live again since it is intact and available. No changes were written to since it failed that I care about. I want use all the drives and parity to rebuild drive 8. Right now both 4 and 8 are showing as missing. help john
  20. More questions I believe one of the drives is good. I will bite the bullet and pay 170 for a new drive (ouch) to replace the known bad drive (drive . During the power on self test it waits till the timeout then continues on. Unraid does not see the drive as working. Unraid right now has drive 4 as not installed. This drive was working but fell out of the array. When unraid is started it sees that drive as available to add to the array to replace the drive 4 slot. I think i need to tell unraid that drive 4 is good. No major changes were done to drive 4. It should when in the middle of the night. Drive 8 needs a rebuild from parity. How do I tell unraid to use drive 4 as is ? John edit I added syslog after a boot replacing dead drive 8. I still to enable disk 4 and use parity to rebuild drive 8 after the preclear v syslog-2011-12-29.txt
  21. My 4.7 unraid box was running happily along and then one of the drives failed (disk 4). It did it about 3 weeks ago. I removed it and put it back and rebuilt parity and was working great This morning it did it again, disk 4 failed. So I stopped it and moved to a different sata port. When I restarted it drive number 8 failed completely and will not start. It sits on it during post for a about a minute then during unraid bootup it tries to use the disk but cant and fails. Disk 4 is a working disk but unraid thinks it is bad as it was a disk disable before i shut it down. Is there a way to make the system think disk 4 good again and simulate disk8 ? Thanks John
  22. How did you get the md5 number. I looked on the site for couch potato and could not find it anywhere. I look like the programmer changes it frequently.
  23. guest what they changed it again augh now it ends in 774945d.tar.gz I wonder what is going on 3 updatas in 3days
  24. I did a manual download and got this file about an hour ago RuudBurger-CouchPotato-666fd8b.tar.gz Not sure if that helps much. Thanks
