  1. What is the problem? Is everything working?... Cutting power to an "array" isn't recommended, but doesn't have to be fatal. Check everything. Do you have backups? MrGrey.
  2. Can you confirm that everything works accept the WebUI showing that nothing is there? Rephrase: Everything works but the WebUI? MrGrey.
  3. If people (other than you; only knowing windoze) might have to recover information and plug a USB drive into a windows computer and hope to recover data, then NTSF is the way to go. I backup stuff that way... I hate admitting it. <preaching> Teach your family that Windows is a very, very bad, bad way </preaching> MrGrey.
  4. Is the RAM ECC?... Clutching at straws Again, clutching at straws... Does the server keep working and/while the UI stops working? Hope it helps. MGrey.
  5. I'm probably missing something, but what USB stick are you using to boot? MrGrey.
  6. Better to just ask people that have a "use case" and installation. I can confirm that cat5e will max 2.5G in "some" cases. (I was very surprised). MrGrey.
  7. What is Unraid running on (going to sleep) and what are you trying to connect to it with? UnRaid is very bad personal computer, but a pretty good server. MrGrey.
  8. Plex takes over everything like a "phone" app (imho) and doesn't rely on smb (depending on your setup/resources). Maybe setup your photos in Plex and make everything public? Smb works very, very well in Unraid. I hope Jonathan finds something simple (he probably will) to solve your slow smb. I won't look at your diagnostics, but I'll ask for the build and OS running on your server and every client you've tested. MrGrey.
  9. Old news... Anyone with their own router knows that "bots" search or attack or look or whatever you want to call it. No one can stop "attacks" on the Internet. The Internet was actually created to stop "attacks" from being able to stop it. MrGrey.
  10. SSH is disabled on every machine I know/manage. I'm sure you can fix everything when you plug a real cable into it. MrGrey
  11. No... I would trade SSDs for RAM. Your storage needs (Plex, etc.) don't match your VM needs (Windows/BlueIris). An SSD is $100/tb and a mechanical HD is $25/tb (close in most parts of the world). In short... Screw the SSD/M2 crap and get RAM and mechanical drives (storage). Just my humble opinion... shit...jmho... right? MrGrey.
  12. > Power Outage Caused Cache Pool to become Unmountable... > what to do to limit the impact if it happens again in the future Get a UPS and ensure *every* drive that your server expects to be there is powered and working (including unassigned devices [usb, etc.]) during a power failure/spike/brown-out, etc. Unraid will shut down well, if needed, in an extended power failure (in my experience). I wish I could help with recovery stuff, but I can't. I hope everything works out. MrGrey.
  13. I find people misundterstanding VPN too often. PIA only matters if you want to spoof yourself. A VPN "tunnel" to your server is completely different (imho). One is a public VPN and the other is a private VPN. If you're worried about traffic to your "private" server then you need a "private" VPN and not a public one (like PIA). Clear as mud?... I use PIA (not affiliated in any way), but NOT for access to my server (local/private VPN for that). MrGrey
  14. A single drive should never be filled beyond 80-90%. I'm not going to explain why. MrGrey.
  15. Apparently not. I tell my family it will work forever if you don't touch it. It's a lie. MrGrey.
  16. Just use the public ones that share wishes with everyone, everywhere. I think you've got everything under control. No one uses ftp anymore (so I'm told). MrGrey.
  17. You are son / daughter? Pretty capable son / daughter? MrGrey.
  18. Plex has be hammering. Emby is doing similar as a preventative measure? I see Sabrent, but they don't make drives, do they? What drives, brand & make, are, "Dying at Incredible Rate"? MrGrey.
