Yes, exactly what I noticed, too. As soon as Fan Crtl Plus is running, my CPU fan no longer works as intended (bios controlled). BTW: I just noticed a bug. Is it possible that Fan Crtl Plus wakes up my array from sleep although I did not access it?

That would be great! Does FanCrtl Plus autostart after a restart?

plugin is not starting automatically on 7.1.4. it needs a manual user input to start.

I can confirm the update broke this great plugin (at least for me) and it does not control the fans anymore. maybe @bonienl can take a look at this issue?

plugin seemed to stop working since the last 7.1.0 update. fans do not stop spinning. did not change anything else except update unraid.

btrfs left me with almost 100% usable space, but after copying two files with a total of 25GB to it, it tells me it used 50GB on the drive?!? Why is that?

what is the best file system in that case? I cannot waste space on my drives. It is a simple gaming-ISO dumpster server that serves as my steam-library backup. so it is a one time written to and from there only read NAS. I am going to add a parity drive later on after the drives have been filled. and 4x 200GB is a lot of space wasted for nothing.

Hi at all, I just added 4 empty 10TB drives and every drive as almost 200GB reserved (=being used, although there is no single file written to it, yet). How can I reduce this behaviour? I almost lost a full TeryByte without even touching the xfs array. Best wishes!

Ich habe Keyfile (Endgerät) und Passwort (Kopf) immer dabei. Eine Cloud kommt mir nicht in die Tüte. Nicht mal die doppelt geschützte Datenbankdatei liegt in einer Cloud. Das mache ich ganz altmodisch per Kabel.

Danke für deinen Beitrag. Ich nutze Tailscale, um per VPN auf mein Unraid-System zuzugreifen. Also die Keydatei ruhig mit der Database im Docker ablegen? Oder lieber auf dem Smartphone/Endgerät, weil ich von dort aus meine Database öffne?

Hi liebe Unraider, ich habe eine .kdbx, die neben dem Passwort auf eine (nur mir bekannte) Token-Datei setzt, um geöffnet zu werden. Da ich diese auf einem USB Datenträger habe, möchte ich sie ungern in den Docker legen. Denn dann bräuchte ich die Datei ja nicht, wenn ich sie mit meiner Datenbank im selben Docker hoste. Ist ja sonst wie die PIN, die man logischerweise NICHT auf seine EC-Karte draufschreibt oder auf einem Zettel im Portemonnaie mitführt. Nun meine Frage: Wie kann ich im Docker eine solche USB-Datenträgerdatei mounten? Oder verstehe ich den Sinn des KeePassXC-Docker falsch? Viele Grüße

hi, every now and then my cache drive keeps getting "empty". It is happening when the TEMPERATURE only shows a "*" and no number anymore. Then the drive becomes "empty" and is only recoverable when going offline and reconnecting physically on the board again. why is that? Is there a method to never let it go to sleep? best wishes

Hi at all, my cache drive (NVME samsung) is empty although it says 50GB is used. In the file explorer there is nothing shown. So I tried to move my docker-images to it from another drive, but I get this error "rsync: [generator] recv_generator: failed to stat "/mnt/cache/vdisk1.img": Input/output error (5) rsync error: some files/attrs were not transferred (see previous errors) (code 23) at main.c(1336) [sender=3.2.7]" what could it be? any help is highly appreciated. thanks in advance. update: smart attributes show me "Smartctl open device: /dev/nvme0 failed: No such device" UPDATE: put it into the server again and it works again. maybe it is dying?

I did disable jumbo frames on my network adapter and restarted the client OS (windows 10) to see the problem gone. I am getting 50-60MB write speeds now (because of parity, I guess) and can navigate to other drives while transfer without lock ups. thanks so much. why is jumbo frames ON per default?

I guess I will swap one HDD at a time and only when needed. this way I keep the other drives parity protected. how often do you „stress“ your drive with parity procedure? once a year?

HI there, I have a few 4TB HDDs (EMPTY) in my array and want to replace those with a 8TB one without rebuilding. is that possible? from my understanding I can only replace one HDD at a time (because of 1 level parity). So i would have to rebuilt those empty drives for every single swapped HDD which really makes no sense (because they are empty and because it would strain every HDD at rebuilding for a day). best wishes.

how to test if every drive is already shared? delete and share again?

I did new permissions on every disk. problem is still: I can copy internally using the unraid file manager without a problem. but as soon as I WRITE data to the SMB, it does time out. reading from SMB is not a problem. permissions are fine. disks are fine. I have no idea what is going on. network card broken maybe? cable was already replaced, was not the problem.

I just did a 100GB file read, no problem. But writing to any disk from any device is not possible over network.
