  1. Hello, I don't use a parity disk but somehow accidently initiated a check (probably when i was first setting up unraid). Ever since, the following has persisted on my dashboard: How can I get rid of this? Thank you
  2. Would there be any issue with DNS leaks if I ran win8 in a VM? I'd like to run a torrent/nzb client.
  3. Hi, I'm not sure was worth it's own thread and I thought this was the most relevant. I'm currently decommissioning my server to move to a new setup (new drives and all). I'm at the last two drives in my current setup (1 Data, 1 Parity). Once I've removed all data from disk1, is all of the data from the server removed? So at this point, I can just remove the parity drive without worrying about losing anything?
  4. Thanks! I've got it set up pulling air away. Part of my reasoning for this was that I think it was getting warm because of the PSU blowing warm onto it. I don't know how sound my logic is though!
  5. Hi Guys, nothing too exciting, but I thought I'd post my build here. Specs: -Sapphire E350 motherboard + CPU -4GB RAM -Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 -(My favorite) MPCI-E 2 port sata card based on asmedia ASM1061 -7 x 3TB + 1 x 2TB Seagate barracuda -Samsung 840 120GB cache (that apparently doesn't work - see my other thread) -Sharkoon Rebel 9 -2 x Lian Li 4 in 3 HDD bays -TX650 -2 x Aerocool shark fans (140 + 120mm)+ whatever fans are in the Lain Li bays. Other network items: Asus RT-N66U running merlin's build Samsung CCTV RasbPi running seafile APC Smart UPS etc So currently I have 7 x data, 1 x parity and 1 x cache with capacity to add another 6 drives (15 drives on a mini itx! 13 if you take into account case constraints). Just by chance, all of the ports are 6gbps even though I know it isn't necessary. I've always gone by the rule of thumb that if you can't hold your finger on something for more than a couple of seconds, it's getting too hot! This was the case with the AOC, so I decided to add a fan. The kit, which cost about £8 on Amazon is definitely a bargain even though I plan on using just the heat sink for now. It comes with paste, heat sink with fan fitted, heat sink for SB/NB, cable and fixings. You can see that I am replacing the fan with a fractal design one which produces slightly less noise. I am also using artic silver instead of the paste supplied. Cleaning the chip and heat sink with isopropanol The fitted fan. Now I don't know if the AOC has got temp sensors but the heat sink certainly feels a lot cooler to the touch. Maybe I will bring home the VT02 if I get chance and produce some thermal images.
  6. Wow, I completely forgot about this thread until I decided I was going to look into it again, so I thought I'd update it with where I'm at. I'm still having the same problem, all though I've found something even more weird. Copying from a single PC direct to the cache drive yields 85-95MB/s Copying from a single PC to share without cache yields around 30MB/s Copying from a single PC to a share with cache enabled yields around 42MB/s (Here is the strange part) Copying from multiple PCs to share with cache enabled yields around 35MB/s per PC as shown here: These speeds were all tested with m2ts files of around 20-25GB. Unraid version is 5.0-rc8a. System is an e350 + 4GB RAM.
  7. Hi GaryCase, I've seen the SSD peak at closer to 100MB/s, but 88-90 seems closer to the average. No, I don't think so. There is only really my HTPC and my desktop connected and only one is switched on at a time. My server has 4GB of RAM.
  8. Hi there, I'm having a weird problem, before I got a cache drive I was getting about 32MB/s write. I added a cache drive (Samsung 840 SSD) but when writing to a share, I only get about 40-43MB/s. I know the cache drive is being utilised because I can browse the files on the cache drive. I have also made sure to select the option to use cache disk under each share. If I export the cache drive and write to it directly I get around 88MB/s. What gives?
  9. Hi I've just bought the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 and I have a few questions. 1) What is INT13? 2) Do I still have to disable it on this card? 3) If I still need to disable it, can I plug it into my desktop, disable it from there, then move it to my server? (Will the setting stick)?
  10. I'm also interested in this. They seem to be going for half the price of the supermicro cards.
  11. I'm building an unraid server for my friend and put him the latest RC on. I also had problems installing the plugins. I had to telnet to the server and install each module individually, which isn't a problem but wouldn't be immediately obvious to some one who is new to unraid. For you copy and pasting pleasure (make sure you start with the top one): installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.core.webGUI-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.active.streams-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.activity.monitor-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.cache.dirs-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.disk.health-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.dns.server-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.email.notify-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.log.viewer-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.s3.sleep-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.system.info-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.system.stats-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg installplg /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures.web.server-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg Also, with the latest RC, I had issues adding a new disk to the array but that is for another thread. I've downgraded my buddy to rc8a which seems to be relatively stable for me.
  12. Hi guys, has anyone had experience with the above card or can anyone confirm that it will work with unraid? Also, I'll be plugging it in to a sapphire e350 mobo http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?leg=&psn=000102&pid=1034&lid=1, will the mini pci-e interface cause a botttleneck? (I plan on using one port for an array drive and another port for a cache drive).
  13. I've just logged into my unRaid server and was messing with the shares and realized that my split level was set to 5 on every one. I've tried reading the wiki, but for some reason I cannot grasp the idea of split level . Is having a split level of 5 detrimental in any way? If so, can I change it now or only when I create a new share?
