[Support] Linuxserver.io - Plex Media Server
I only have a plex server up for my family to access it from outside my lan and for when I am on a road trip and want something to watch. Otherwise I use Kodi solely for all my media. I like the presentation on my large screen with all the art work etc..

I probably jumped to a misunderstood conclusion on that. Yes it was running in RAM (even though memory usage never went up, only CPU usage).I would post a screen shot again but at the moment rebuilding a drive. I understand that Unraid once booted runs in RAM. Once I had the setting for plex and the container set. Host path /tmp and container path :/transcode . I restarted docker. Later that night got a phone call from sister asking why plex on her roku kept crashing back to the home screen once she started a stream. Thought that was odd and since plex was running for her with out a problem before, I could only come to the conclusion that it was the settings I had done in the morning to the container.I open the web gui for plex and see her stream as paused and my nephews stream as direct with no converting. My cpu is pegged at 100% and memory usage is stable at 20%. I then go into editing the container for plex to check those settings i put in. While all the streams are still active and I am in the edit for the host path which is just /tmp, clicking on that box will bring a drop down showing what seemed to be the contents of my flash drive. But looking back now probably was just the tmp ram directory.I could see the transcode folder and streams inside that. So I just assumed at that point it was holding that /tmp on flash drive, which at the time made sense to me with the cpu usage and what plex was doing on the clients end. With over 5 gig in sessions from the transcode folder and if the flash drive was dishing that out I could understand the problems clients were having.(This was all my thinking at this time). Mapping the host path inside the cache folder solved all these problems with my family's plex outside my lan. This is how i came to the conclusion that the /tmp doesn't work for me unless I map that tmp to a folder.

Yes I did see the /tmp/transcode folder and inside the sessions folder for each stream. with my cpu pegged at 100%. To me it makes no difference since I stream everything from my Unraid server on lan to Kodi, but for the few family members that have outside access to my plex server those transcode setting made their viewing horrible. So I converted back to the cache directory(SSD) for transcoding for them. Their feed back said that the viewing now is flawless. This was basically an experiment within the last 2 weeks if I could make plex better for them and RAM transcoding was a fail, as far as I am concerned.

I agree with you and was expecting to see my ram usage going up with that setting (/tmp) but it did not but what I saw was a tmp folder created on flash drive and a trans-code folder created inside that. So that lead me to map that /tmp to my cache drive inside. So I have to think that trans-coding on RAM is not working on my end.

I had tried this also (mapped the /transcode folder to /tmp) and what I had found out from my sister that has access to my plex server was that the stream she was watching was really bad. Bad meaning that playing the file would cause the video to buffer every 5-10 secs. I could see that the trans-coding was going on using with my server because all my cores were pegged at 100%. I do believe that /tmp if not mapped to anything it will then default to the flash drive. Those with more knowledge please correct me if this is wrong. Anyway I mapped a tmp folder to my appdata folder on my cache drive (ssd). My sister tried again and I could see under the /mnt/user/appdata/tmp/transcode folder that a new folder was created called sessions. Opening that folder up I could see the trans-coded files being delivered for the stream. Now my sister tells me that the file plays wonderful and all is good. On my end I no longer see a 100% CPU usage throughout the trans-coding operation . Thought I would give my thoughts on the subject.

[Plugin] CA Appdata Backup / Restore - Deprecated
I have been trying to delete old backups also to no avail. I have had to do 2 unclean shutdowns to get the system back to respond. Delete starts ok but after a few mins it just freezes my system. I have tried in windows but holy moly the plex docker in itself is over 30 gigs with folder after folder of junk. SSH and rmdir does not work. and krusader does not work. I am going to move everything but my backup folder off the drive I have configured and pull the drive out, shrink the array and reformat that drive. Just too many folders taking up way to much space. And with a weekly backup running since July, it is getting out of hand. If anyone reads this, I recommend to not backup your plex folder. Seems all the other dockers delete ok.

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
After much google and many, many different files, I have decided that this is the best I can do on my HP H220 cards.Version:15.10.10.00 (17 Apr 2017) from the HP site. I did all the changes in UEFI shell. That download is an .exe file but with 7 zip you can extract it to a folder and pull the H220_it.fw and mptsas2.rom. Put those into your bootable usb along with Shellx64.efi and sas2flash.efi . My m/b can boot into the shell. Once booted in shell, type "fs0:" well it was for me but your usb might be different. Once in FS0: type "sas2flash -list" will show you all the adapters. To be on the safe side I had taken out all but the one adapter I was flashing and had no connections to hard drives attached to it. So now I flash with "sas2flash -o -f h220_it.fw -b mptsas2.rom" and hope all goes well which it did. Try "sas2flash -list" again and now see my firmware is V15.10.10.00 . Shut down and place my other adapter in and do the same.. Done I hope.

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
Need some advise or help on this. Started having problems with my server. Per Johnnie.Blacks advise I am trying to upgrade the firmware of my controllers to p20. I have a launch EFI from a system device in the asrock uefi utility. I plug in my usb with the files I got from SAS 9207 . I get into the shell and dir to fs0 dir and proceed to use x64sas2.efi -listall and am greeted with image is not an application. Dunno this may/probably be over my head.

[Support] Linuxserver.io - Kodi-Headless
Thanks for the replies. Another question: I thought I had read a long time back on KODI forum on the headless thread that you could move your addons to the headless container, restart and then you would be able to use those addons under the headless container. You would also have to adjust that in the advanced xml also. Can this still be done?

Been toying with the idea of this docker. I am wondering how the database handles a large collection? Does it bog down or crash with a large amount of movies, tv shows along with music videos and just music? Does the database actually hold the artwork or just links to the artwork in the media folders (movies, tv, music etc..)? Lastly if a large collection , how much space will be required of the docker if running in mnt/cache/appdata/ folder?

The 5X3 Cage review - Norco, SuperMicro, iStarUSA and Icy Dock
Haha...ya the server finally came out.. but then went right back in. I have been monitoring the temps since the fan replacements and it seem that the temp are holding well within specs. 30 - 40 C, When I have no one over I keep the closet door open now since the noise level is very low. So far I am very impressed and also happy with how quite these fans are.

The 5X3 Cage review - Norco, SuperMicro, iStarUSA and Icy Dock
I recently moved and had to find a place for my server. I settled for a closet off my living room for the server. . I have three Norco 5x3 cages in my server and have never modified them. So the fans in the cages sound like jet engines ramping up. LOUD. Even with my closet door shut, I could still hear the server running. Tired of that I finally pulled the fans out of the cages and went with 3 of the Coolink SWiF2-800 Quiet PC Cooling Fan 80mm Proceeded to pull the fans out of the cages and made a few blunders. If anyone is familiar with the fans in the Norco cages, you know that the fan mounting holes slide through a plastic sleeve. I broke one off on my first fan and then two on my second and just a half of one on the third.Wow..I suck. Put in put in the new fans but missed either one or 2 screws to hold the fans in on each one.Powered up the server and wow a huge difference in noise. Quit now. But with only 2 or t3 screws holding each fan, I was concerned about them moving. I pulled case apart again and took the fans back out. The new fans had come with mounting screws, so I thought I would use those but fasten the fan from the outside in. I took a 1/16 in drill and drilled through the hole in the plastic sleeve. Drilling from the inside out. I then turned the rear mount of cage over and used a 3/16 in drill to drill through my pilot hole. I then mounted the fan back I could then use the screws that came with the fan and screw from the outside of housing through to the new fan. Nice and tight. I have attached pictures.

[Support] Linuxserver.io - SWAG - Secure Web Application Gateway (Nginx/PHP/Certbot/Fail2ban)
Thank jonathanm. I have it up and running. took some time with restarting router and dvr to new ports but I think it will be worth while in the long run.

[Support] Linuxserver.io - SWAG - Secure Web Application Gateway (Nginx/PHP/Certbot/Fail2ban)
Even if that dvr is using port 443? Or can sub-domains be set up?
-
[Support] Linuxserver.io - SWAG - Secure Web Application Gateway (Nginx/PHP/Certbot/Fail2ban)
I guess that is what I am confused about. If I use duckdns for a domain to my static ip. Any connection to that domain name will open the dvr viewer. How to get other internal ip's on lan available to the static ip is where I am confused on. Whether that be on port 80 or whatever.

[Support] Linuxserver.io - SWAG - Secure Web Application Gateway (Nginx/PHP/Certbot/Fail2ban)
I would like to set this docker up but have some issues involving conflicting ports. I have a stand alone dvr recording 18 security cameras, This dvr has port 80, 8082 and 443 used for outside access. I have a static IP which the dvr forwards to. I think I can change ports on the dvr and then set the router to forward those ports but the 80 port for web access gets me messed up with how to distinguish between the dvr internal ip and and my other computers on the network, Any help on this or direction would be appreciated..

[Support] Linuxserver.io - Plex Media Server
I have had no problems with linuxserver/plex for the past year or so. I just was thinking that most of the media info was probably in those folders (cache, media and metadata) and might shorten the scan time down on if ashman70 were to switch containers to the linuxserver/plex container. I know that scanning a large library in can take a looooooooong time.
-
[Support] Linuxserver.io - Plex Media Server
Should copy your cache, media and metadata folders to another location and set up the new container. then copy those folders back into the new container and no need to index media.

Will this also work with sickbeard instead of sickrage? Have over 350 tv shows and I dont want to rebuild a database again.

Re: Format XFS on replacement drive / Convert from RFS to XFS (discussion only)
I started with the drive with the least amount of data on it and used unbalance to spread that out between the drives. I chose the share folders to move on that drive. I do not use disk shares and have user shares. With that said, I set the setting in unbalanced to 50% instead of the 450 Mb size. I calculated and could see where all the files would go and to which drives. Happy I hit the move button. It was taking about 4 - 5 hours for each TB to move, depending on how much activity was going on with the server. IE Plex or Kodi streaming. I would normally start my move at night and by morning it was complete. Once the move in unbalance was done, I went to main array tab and looked at the disk I had just emptied to make sure no files were left. My user share folders were still on the disk but nothing inside of them. Make sure to check them since at one point my mover had moved files into those share folders. Once satisfied everything was empty and only user shares remained, I stopped array. I then set the format on the empty disk to xfs and restarted the array. Once array was started Fix Common Problems plugins pops a message up in red, ignore that and down by stop/start button for array, you will see the empty disk on left side and a format box. Check the format box and the disk will now format to xfs. Takes a few minutes. Once done I re-run Fix problems plugin and make sure all is good. Now you have an empty disk formatted in xfs. You can use unbalance again to continue until done with your array. Parity was valid through out the whole process My conversion took roughly 2 weeks to finish 17 drives. I did not stay at it all the time though. Good luck.

How much RAM do you have installed in your unRAID server?
16GB for me with running some dockers and plugins and have never run into any problems so far with lack of memory. Highest usage I have seen is 3GB.
