  1. Sorry You know you focus so hard on what your mind set is, you forget to see what is right in front of you.
  2. I mean my plex server running now I transcode the files local , on the cloud the clients would be transcoding or direct stream of those same files not my server local. Why would my upload speed affect the clients? They would be downloading from the cloud. My files would be on that cloud, What would I be uploading?
  3. One other thing, will a plex pass be needed for setting this up?
  4. Thanks for the replies. I use Kodi for my front end and would like to keep my files but with setting this up, I imagine I would have less buffering on my server once all files are on cloud and family members start to access those files instead of on my server. Missing the steps in here for set up and skipping to my concerns. In order to preserve my files I could just copy them to the upload folder correct? Then point Plex to the cloud drive. This would then take the load off of my server and place it on the clients. Correct on this?
  5. Just finished reading every post in this thread and a big thumbs up to @DZMM for creating these scripts. Before I start on this a few questions: 1) Since Plex is running on your server, and you might share your content with family members, the path in plex goes to your google drive, does that mean that your family members now will get the content from the cloud share or does your server download it first and then send it to the family members? 2) If the cloud drive downloads right to the family members, couldn't they set their own Plex up if you gave them access to the shared folder? 3) Would trans coding be a thing of the past, since everything would now becoming from the cloud only dictated by family download speeds? I /myself might not use this but is very interesting for a combining of media on multiple plex servers.
  6. I installed this yesterday and after a few hiccups am now scanning my music dir. on the server. Here are some screenshots of my docker. Had to edit the music dir to show absolute valve of where it was. So putting i my lan address where all my user shares are shown worked. This does work.
  7. Thanks Johnnie, I had been looking on server supply website and came across that one. Little pricey but I can then sell both my other cards.
  8. Wondering is @johnnieblack would have any recommendations on a card
  9. Do not have a card yet. Do you have a recommendation on a good one? Thanks
  10. Thank you for that info. I guess I will go and find out. Will post some info once I have everything re-adjusted to the new controller.
  11. You should be fine. I have the same drive but the 250 one and have over 90TB lbas written in 21/2 years. Mine shows no signs of slow down or errors.
  12. Thank you for this. I like how I can determine how many drives on which controller I can saturate, while maintaining a descent speed for a parity check. Question I have is, how do I know if I can replace a 8 controller with a 16 controller and still maintain my speed before the 16 get saturated? I am looking at placing 12 or 13 drives on the 16 but would like to keep the 200+ speed. This would be on my 1 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot. Would this be possible? My specs are in my signature.
  13. Why not just move data right to the array instead of using the cache drive and mover do that? Might have a little buffering while that is going on but shouldn't become unresponsive.
  14. Just for my understanding and thanks jonathanm for correcting me. If he only had 1 parity drive, the order of the data drives do not matter but with the second parity drive, he needs all the correct data drives in the correct slot assignments. If I am understanding this and if a person wouldn't know where any data drives were assigned and didn't know exactly which parity drive went, but knew which drive/s were used for parity, would it be safe to assign 1 of those drives as parity and let the server rebuild and the add the second parity and rebuild again? After second parity is added a new text file is added in flash drive under config folder called "DISK_ASSIGNMENTS.txt". Now if I understand instead of backing up my whole flash drive I could just print this txt file out along with a screen shot of my web gui main page to get all the correct assignments of drives going forward. Rinse and repeat after drives are upgraded so I would have a current list of all drives and assignments. Reason asking is I am in the process of adding 6 new drives and plan on rebuilding 2 at a time and want a fast way to record my drives, just in case.
  15. If you can set your parity or parity drives in the correct slots, meaning the correct parity drive for slot 1 and or correct for slot 2, it should not matter which slots the other drives are in. Reboot and make sure box for write parity corrections is not checked. Parity will rebuild at that point. Good idea about a UPS. I have 2 running, one each on my servers. Has saved me a few times.
  16. When I see I/O errors, I always check my cables and replace just to rule them out. Just a thought.
  17. If you have a current back up of your flash drive. I would copy that over to your usb drive and start your server again. Otherwise, and I am not as qualified on this as others, if you know which drives are your parity drives, assign them to those slots and the other drives can be populated in whatever order in the array. A parity check will start after a restart.
  18. Newegg has the WD My Book 10TB USB 3.0 External Desktop Hard Drive on sale for 209.99. 16 hour sale limit 2 add this code ( EMCTCUB37 ) for an added 50.00 off per drive. total 159.99 per drive. https://www.newegg.com/black-wd-my-book-10tb/p/N82E16822234346
  19. Amazon sold me 2 for the sale price. I bought another on Newegg and BHphoto for a total of 4. There was a seller on Ebay offering the same price but all sold out.
  20. I called them (BHPhoto) and the 159.49 price is good for only 1 drive. Any more than 1 drive the price jumps to 219. per drive.
  21. This has happened to me also. Rebooted and installed the newest rc release over the 6.7.0 installed, All good so far. But it was the exact errors 1812 submitted. Couldn't download diagnostics, array would go to green, orange and log gave me the same errors.
  22. This will work fine for a few camera's. I have 26 cameras and it will bog down the system when viewing them.
  23. Currently at 114 TB. Starting to replace my 8 TB with 10's. Once complete 150 TB, but that will take the rest of the year I believe. Update 12-16-2019 Finished upgrading hard drives to 10 TB's. With my old 8 TB drives created a second server. 230 total TB's between the 2. I now am done. Specs are in signature. added picture of my 150 server..AKA Landfill Edit : This is my current storage and as you can see , I have upgraded to the 10 TB drives. If I do go larger next step would be to the 16TB drives.
