  1. Don't forget that XBMC has an option to sort all movies beginning with The by what is after that word. For example, The Dark Night could very well be listed as Dark Knight, The.
  2. I have a dedicated machine for downloading and ripping. My Revo is 100% HTPC dedicated.
  3. I finally ordered the hardware: Case: Cooler Master Centurion 590 Motherboard: MSI 785GTM-E45 CPU: AMD Sempron 140 HDD: 1x WD Cavier Green 1.5Tb to be used as parity drive RAM: 1Gb Can't wait
  4. You are right. Sorry if I sounded aggressive, didn't mean to. I am on the XBMC forums as well and I'm just tired of those people that only have "use XBMC live" as an answer. When you know a little bit of Windows, it really is easy to configure it for XBMC to work properly.
  5. Why is everybody saying to go the Linux way? The *only* pro imo is native support of GPU use. That's it. Since this is a complete computer, I want to use other features than XBMC from time to time, such as MSN, Skype, etc... I don't know Linux and I just DON'T want to go that way. I am very pleased with how XBMC works under Win7 and I really don't mind at all using an external player. So to answer Rajahal's question, I have uninstalled all the preinstalled Acer crapware and disabled anything that could potentially slow down the machine.
  6. Yeah I don't know jack about Linux and honestly I don't want to get into it. You can do whatever you want with Windows when you know how to do it. I use MPC-HC as the external player, works great. I also use a generic MCE remote with EventGhost and it's the perfect setup.
  7. My turn to help I have the Revo 3610 with Win7 and XBMC. You have to use an external player to watch HD content using GPU. I am VERY satisfied with it.
  8. Really appreciate your help, thanks!
  9. Which case do you have Rajahal? I like the Antec Nine/Twelve Hundred but they're expensive. The Cooler Master Elite 310 seems appealing...
  10. Yeah it's not nearly as complete as the US version... But you can show me the US link, I will shop around later
  11. It should be close to stock as I only plan for it to be a file server. I might add a couple of addons/scripts but right now I'm only thinking about the shutdown script as well as the addon to work with the UPS in case of power failure, that's it. I am really not familiar with AMD cpu's so can I ask you to point me to a MoBo/CPU combo that would be cheap and good? If possible I'd like the MoBo to have 6 SATA ports. Thanks again!
  12. I'm getting closer, so I haev another question =) I will most likely go with the GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3 mobo, the E5200 CPU and will most likely have 5-6 drives installed. I will probably add 1-2 drives later on. What is the PSU I should get? Is 450W enough? Or is it better to go safe and choose 600W right away? Again : thanks
  13. Awesome, thanks for the quick reply.
  14. Can anyone tell me if a CPU cooler is really necessary on such a server, ir is the standard fan sufficient? Although my server will be up 24/7, I will access it "meaning write to it, and read from it" only 2-3 hours per day.
  15. Thanks, looking forward to your update. I am in Canada so I need to buy from Canada to avoid stupid custom fees. I just used newegg's link for reference anyway. Once I'm decided, I'll shop for the cheapest deal
