  1. process worked as planned, system is back and happy with a 4T parity so going forward any failed data drives should be much easier to swap.
  2. perfect! Sorry I was scared with a dead data drive and didn't want to mess with the parity drive while the data drive was dead but thanks for confirming. I will make sure to start the array without the 2T parity so it forgets about it and stop it again and add it back as a data drive.
  3. I have a setup as follows: 5X2T Data Drives 1X2T Parity Drive 1XSSD Cache Drive Data Disk #5 died and its running on parity so all is well as far as data access. Went to store and got 1X4T drive cause 4T is same price now as 2T was when I first built this. I want to make the 4T drive my new parity so that as additional 2T drives fail I can swap them with 4T. Not sure the best approach but I stopped the array and added a second parity and am rebuilding the parity and my plan is once parity is rebuilt I was going to down the array and remove the 2T parity drive and try to assign it as data drive #5. Is this going to work? is there a better way to do this? is this even possible? I found this link below but since I had a failed data drive I didn't want to chance anything so took my approach https://lime-technology.com/wiki/The_parity_swap_procedure Thanks again!
  4. Parity check finished, system rebooted and all happy. Thanks again!
  5. Cool! I pulled The USB Flash and popped it into a windows machine and was able to repair and back it up on the windows machine. It said any jacked up files were put in a folder called "Found" but I saw no "Found" folder so hopefully its good. I put it back into a USB2 port (it was in a Blue USB3) I am gonna wait for the parity check to complete and try a reboot. Thanks again I really appreciate your guidance and assistance.
  6. Thanks @Frank1940 I guess I am more concerned with if its NOT OK or fixed and at that point my system is powered down and I am assuming unable to boot - I have intolerable children and would like to avoid any unnecessary down time Can I pull the drive while the system is running to test it instead of powering down?!?! Should/Could I have a new FlashDrive prepared in someway? I have a paid for version (6 drives and a cache) and I recall the serial of the drive being tied to the registration and having to transfer? Maybe it came with a 30 day trial but I don't recall that was so long ago. If it is dead and I have no backup now what as far as config? I usually live by the motto of expect the worst and hope for the best! I tried to search for a basic how to when your flash drive is corrupt and found a few things in the forum but again just want to be prepared so I am not searching the forums while calling a bonds man to get my kid out of jail for attempted murder on his brother Again many thanks!
  7. Sorry I read a few posts but want to see if I can get clear directions. I have an Unraid box 6.3.5 that I believe the flash drive is corrupt I have this Error and /boot has nothing. System is happy as far as NAS and is currently running a scheduled weekly parity check. What steps should I take before booting this thing and what are my options to get this back into a healthy state? Thanks again!
  8. What did you do to solve the problem so others can learn? Not 100% sure what the fix was but - Deleted the preclear plugin - Deleted the rclone plugin not sure but was also just upgraded I have 3 network devices that write via FTP to /mnt/user/Nokdim as RobJ eluded to (I stopped FTP on those devices since I saw that directory being created even though the user share wasn't available?!?!?! seemed bad... I am using the built in FTPd so yeah it accepted connection but not sure how to stop that besides maybe write to a none user share) - Removed the cache drive from the array After a reboot the cache drive was back in as a cache drive on the array on its own and all user shares came back. All my docker/VM depended on user shares so they spun right up once the user shares came online. I do believe the user shares had an issue possibly due to preclear or rclone most likely preclear The FTPd issue probably added fuel to the fire. Lesson learned is probably upgrade each plugin and verify with reboot prior to unRAID plugin update itself. Dockerize as much as possible, I feel that saved me hours since it seemed plugin related and all my dockers spun right up after. Update one thing at a time or else it is a guessing game on the culprit. And most importantly be thankful for a community like this one for a second set of eyes and support!!! Thanks Again...
  9. That's a Preclear bug spotted and reported to gfjardim earlier. In the earlier case, it was harmless, in that the resumed preclear was of sdp, a symbol that did not and had never existed on that user's system. In this case, you need to reboot as quickly as possible, then check whether your Cache drive has been partially cleared. I would uninstall the Preclear plugin. I removed the preclear plugin and rebooted and still dont see user shares. Also I dont care about data loss on cache drive worse comes to worse a show I had on DVR will get lost. I just want my user shares back... Try stopping the array, and selecting No Device for the cache drive and then restarting the array I stopped the array and took the cache drive out. I started the array but still no user shares. I stopped the array again and rebooted. After the reboot it is in the same state.

  11. yep all user shares show up in safe mode... I did also update the pre-clear plugin just before upgrading in case that helps.
  12. shareUser="e" on file share.cfg I think thats the issue... please confirm...
  13. Here is the diagnostics file. nokdim-nas-diagnostics-20170205-1530.zip
  14. Yes that is the whole file. Prior to the upgrade I had user shares, after the upgrade I do not. I will try disabling disk shares and see if user shares show up. It seems you can have disk and user shares enabled so one should not stop the other. All I want is my shares back to the way it was prior to the upgrade.
