Never had any problems with my 6 month old server. Today I lost 1 of the parity drives and Disk 2 (both 14tb). I am copying all my files as we speak onto my 2nd unraid server. There is a red X on parity 1, and disk 2 says Unmountable: not mounted All of the drives were purchased in November/December 2021 - I don't know what happened. I don't want to make the issue worse so i am asking for some assistance before i make a critical mistake. Please let me know what to do next. I have attached a screenshot of the drive array, not sure if this provides anything but let me know

This weekend I went and removed the past and redid it and got the same result, but i noticed when I put the D15 Fan back in, i had it backwards just this time. But the temps were almost exactly the same (being that the used a spreader like i normally do) and did the exact same thing. Maybe even better this time but it would be at 41c and i would boot a VM and instantly temp jumps to 52, 60, and quickly jumps back down.... So I went and did the 3rd attempt, this time doing an X but it seems like the results are EXACTLY the same. I also used the thermal paste included with D15 fan. The previous 2 times, i used something else. I think this just how it behaves with the 5950x. Very different then my 3700g which slowly ramps up. Need some more input if there are better solutions. Temp also jumped up when using Unmanic (3 tasks) but it was using P2000 card not any of the CPU.

Interesting, i was thinking it might be that but i never seen that much of a jump. I used hq paste, i forgot which brand but i didnt use what the fan came with. I don't really want to have to take the mb out of case and pull off fan, etc but i will need to check.. It might even be the wrong sensor as i been having lots of problems with this x570S MSI board with fan controllers/temp.

I have a 5950x and a 5700g both in unraid. The 5700G NEVER got above 50C (with fan cooling). The 5950x idles at 38c to 43c but any activity pushes to 60-70c instantly. Example: I started to install ubuntu server as a VM and as soon as it started the install it went to 65c. Doesn't exceed 70c so far for anything but i have 7 Bequiet (silent wing 3) fans in this case but its a big difference from the 5700g. a BIG difference. One is using deep rock 4 (5700g) and Noctua HN D15 in the 5950x. So i would assume it's ok as long as it doesn't get over 95c.

So i kind of figured out what is occurring. The unmanic docker upgraded to newer version, but did not force the plugin to update so i was on .09 (I think), it did not give any errors but everything that ran thru that, even though the size is bigger, is flagged with HVEC (so the system thinks it's already done) and if you run it again, it won't change it. (.11 of the plugin came out but the system again didnt tell me to upgrade and kept the problem going). I am going to try to force handbrake into converting these, but it was a TON of files that i did this to before realizing the issue. Not sure how to fix these video files. There is a either something I am doing wrong or there is a bug where the files sizes are all 20% bigger than original source. I did not have any issues until the new release last week(10 days ago?) I have a P2000 card and these are my settings for H265(very basic). I am hoping some can give me some assistance. I have a ASUS X570 TUF Gaming Plus motherboard and I purchased a NVIDIA PNY VCQP2000-PB Quadro Pro professional graphics card. The issue I have is on my motherboard, there is no place to install the card because the fan housing on the back of the card from the P2000 all bump into the chipset fan. The way the chipset fan is, it's blocking all the card slots (2) for PCI-16x. This is strictly for Encoding and no video output is needed. Is there another card that is recommended to accomplish this and have the clearance of the chipset fan. Thanks,

This was bad ram. Very bizarre results which thru me off, but all is good ==================================== Please read this carefully as I tried to put as much detail as needed and desperately need some guidance. First off, I am not a PRO, this is an Unraid server I built in December. After reading for months and testing unraid on a smaller machine, decided to get all new equipment: Ryzen 5700G 64g of Corsair Ram - with 115TB's, 2 Parity drives Everything was working without any issue from December until Saturday 2/13 and I decided to add 2 more 14TB's and upgrade the RAM to 128 (same exact 2 sticks of 32g Corsair). However, to install the new ram, I needed to remove the motherboard from the case because I have a Be Quiet Dark Rock 4 CPU fan that was blocking the memory slot so I needed to remove the motherboard and remove one of the fans from the CPU fan to get under the cooler (it's big) to get the ram installed. Once I did this, I put everything back and rebooted. It booted up just fine and I started preclear on the new drives. It got to 2.0% done and the system stopped responding. I looked at the monitor attached to the screen and it was scrolling crazy in a loop and not able to read it. Forced to hard reboot on the PC, when it came back up (all in a 1 hour or so period so I knew preclear was not done) it said preclear is finished, but obviously it wasn't. So I tried to format the new drives and it said it needs to be cleared, so I let the process start and between 2-4% it froze up, there was a bunch of kernel messages on the monitor. This time, not knowing what the issue was and did not want to deal with preclear/clear issue, I disconnected the new drives so the array was in the original format, but when starting, it said it was an unclear shutdown and it said it needs to run parity check. It started finding around 70000+ errors and left it alone (nothing running) and got to 5% and froze up again. Ran Memtest64+ on the machine - Test it still running but i wanted to post this (memtest at 91% and no errors so far) Update: 13 Addr 1E763BA78 Expected: 938A6F19 Actual: 978A6F19 CPU: 0 (So this might indicate bad ram after all) - REPLACED THE 64G with new 64G and working correctly again. Not sure what to do, need some guidance and I am in a slight panic. I would think, remove the 2 sticks of ram, but it's so difficult to do with removing the motherboard from the case, and if that is not the problem. It would be a waste of a lot of time for nothing. (if this was easy, I would have done this but it's a whole ordeal).

I have several disks in my array, i went to add another 14tb drive as parity 2, but i added it as a data drive (it's already cleared and online). When i change to assigned. It says disk missing. How can i remove it and make it my 2nd parity disk without causing any problems. I looked at New Config but i want to be absolutely sure how to do this before i cause a problem with the rest of the array.

Yes, but It's resolved. The trick was renaming the EFI- to EFI and it booted up correctly. Only issue now is with the temps inside and fan control in unraid not working but thats a different thread.

I'm just starting to follow this thread as I just switched from Intel to AMD and Temp Control and Fans are not working on my Asus X570. Tempature is detecting the M.2 drives and Fan control is not have anything in drop down box. I am going to try to follow this backwards but its 130 pages I added a few drives to the system and while it's doing the clear and preclear, the 14tb drive is reporting 48/49 temp. But the process is only 20% done. Using a fractal meshify case with 6 fans so i would really like to get the fan control working if possible. When in bios, it shows the CPU is 29 but from unraid it shows 44.

OMG - I been fuxing around with a new PC and trying to get my flash drive to work for the last 6 hours. Had a perfectly working machine but needed to expand storage so went from I7 from 2012. Moved all the drives 6x14TB and 2 10TB in a new AMD & Fractal Meshify 2XL case and Windows, Linux booted from flash but unraid did not and I checked all the settings.. SVM was ok but the issue was the old machine EFI- and i had to change to EFI then it booted. I luckily found this message, tested on another flash doing custom from the unraid creator setup and it Viola! There was no USB 2.0 on the board only 3's. I was going crazy! Now it's booted up and fine. This freaking fly's with this AMD 3700 compared to the 2012 I7-975. I even started looking online (but all deliveries seems to have delays now) to get a USB 2.0 addon card. Trurl - THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION.

I have 1 6 Port SATA 6 Card, is that the bottle neck? My MB is an old ASUS Sabertooth x58 and only has 6 SATA ports (2 are SATA-6 but the rest are SATA-3) - I have the 2 10 TB's on those 2 ports. The card I am using is from Amazon: Rivo PCIe SATA Card, 6 Port - It was only 65.00 card. But I tried another one before this and it wouldn't even see all my drives. I want to get a AMD 5700 with a nice size case (Currently using Cooler Master HAF912 Plus) remember this PC is from 2011 The main issue was getting the bigger drives which i got this week thanks to BB sale. (259.00) each (shucked) Update: Once it passed the 10 TB size, the speed shot up from 55 to 110mb/sec - I don't quite understand why but now there is only 6 hours to go instead of 12+ hours.

As I am awaiting the parity check to finish I was reading these messages in the forum. You guys are getting great speeds. My set up is 62TB Server (couldn't resist the price of the 14tb this week) - I used to use 10tb parity, 10tb drive and 3x6TB drives (the parity build for the 10tb took about 1 day). For the one below it's on day 2 of 3 (only getting 55mb/sec) But i am using an old I7-950 with 24gb (from 2011) so this might be my issue. I need to upgrade the equipment soon. 14 TB - Parity 14 TB - Drive 1 14 TB - Drive 2 14 TB - Drive 3 10 TB - Drive 4 10 TB - Drive 5 1 TB - Cache
