  1. My apologies. I saw your quoting me and I thought it was directed at me. I'll delete that post because I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. I'm so sorry, I'm so new to forums. I usually work directly with people.
  2. Who exactly is spreading false info and I never once said the plug-in doesn’t work. I explained how it affects me, so before you tell someone off for spreading false information, get the facts correct and quote the specific comment. Me stating “I just need to get the system to recognise the fan controller” does not indicate that the app does not work. Nor is it spreading false information.
  3. If I could just get the system to recognise the motherboard controller, it would save much hassles.
  4. I was only seeing up to 47 degrees Celsius and was only during parity check. I can do what you suggested, it’s not going to bother me to have the fans at a set amount constantly. Thanks for your advice.
  5. I found this https://www.amazon.com.au/EZDIY-FAB-Moonlight-10-Port-Motherboard-Computer/dp/B081SWGD5Y/ref=sr_1_5?crid=KRAKU5NYZIWT&keywords=remote%2Bcontrol%2Bpc%2Bfan%2Bspeed&qid=1642512873&sprefix=remote%2Bcontrol%2Bpc%2Bfan%2Bspeed%2Caps%2C214&sr=8-5&th=1 It may not be the best solution and it may have unnecessary RGB, but it allows me to control the fans. The only annoying thing is that I need to manually adjust it, but I'm happy to do that. This looks like the next best thing. If you know when the period is that your HDD will increase, then you can plan for it.
  6. I did find this article, but the command doesn’t work from the beginning. This was the best thing that Fractal was able to provide me. I was told one of those fan speed knob devices might be better. I think they called it a fan curve. But I might just set the fan in the bios to run at 65% or 70% and be happy with the sound. Who needs the silent when it’s a server anyway. I have mine in the Study, where my gaming computer is. So it ain’t like it’s going to keep me up all night. Is it bad for the fans to be running at 70% constantly? https://kmwoley.com/blog/controlling-case-fans-based-on-hard-drive-temperature/
  7. Thank you for your swift reply. I have messaged Fractal with the information and hopefully they can advise me on a part I can get as an addition. I currently have 3x 140 mm fans pulling air into the drive area. Up top, I have 2 x 120 mm pulling air down ontop the HDD and the last as the rear exhaust.
  8. Is there something I can purchase to add to my system? I'm not that knowledgable about how the system can get the HDD temp to control the fan speed. Can you offer some suggestions? The only time I have seen the HDD temp go up is during a Parity check. Generally the HDD stays within 30-40 degrees Celcius on a warm day. Ive seen it go up to 47 degrees during Parity Check. Thanks
  9. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics @ 3900 MHz Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS (WI-FI) Noctura PWM 4 Pin fans with built in fan hub wirh Meshify 2 Case. Running Kernal: Linux 5.10.28-Unraid x86_64 UNRAID Version: Version 6.9.2 I am trying to set the system up so it will adjust the fans based on the HDD temperatures. This seems a bit more complicated than I originally thought. I installed the Dynamix System Auto Fan plugin and the Nuvoton NCT6687 Driver but the Controller still isn't detected. I had another post on hardware section, but it appears to be a dead post. Is there something I am missing or another app/plugin that will help? I can view the temperature perfectly fine and UNRAID notifies me the moment the HDD's temp increases, but it feels like only half a solution if I can't do anything with the fans. I set the Fans in BIOS, but since BIOS doesn't detect HDD temp, I cannot get it to operate as I would like.
  10. I have rotated the above fans to pull air in. I noticed the temperature of the HDD only increased when a Parity check was being done. I only do this once a month, so I'm not worried. The drives generally sit around 32 degrees celcius. I still have no control over the fans though. Hoping someone somewhere has some advice. From how I understand it, the driver needs to be installed for the PWN controller to be recognised, but how do I install the necessary drivers to get Dynamix Auto Fan to recognise the controller?
  11. I have a Fractal Design Meshify 2 case running 3 front fans pulling air in, 1 at rear to pull air out and 2 on top pulling air out. This is how I decided it would best work, ensuring rising heat would be removed, but as you pointed out, few are dedicated to multiple HDD. I can change the top fans to pull air in, but I would still like to be able to control the fans as necessary
  12. I have just rebuilt my NAS. I went with the CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics @ 3900 MHz and the Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. TUF GAMING B550-PLUS (WI-FI), Version Rev X.0x Running Kernal: Linux 5.10.28-Unraid x86_64 UNRAID Version: Version 6.9.2 I have the CPU fan, then an additional 6 fans, which 3 are pull and 3 are push configuration (All running from same header) I am trying to set the system up so it will adjust the fans based on the HDD temperatures. This seems a bit more complicated than I originally thought. I installed the Dynamix System Auto Fan plugin and the Nuvoton NCT6687 Driver (as I had read that this is the best plugin for this board), but I am still struggling to get the driver installed for the temperature sensors. My system uses the onboard 4 pin PWN fan header, and the Dynamix System Auto Fan cannot detect my PWN controller. I may sound a little confused with what I am explaining, but I am trying to allow UNRAID to control the fans based on the HDD temperature. Not using the settings in Bios as I need to enter Bios setup to adjust settings everytime. Can anyone please help me with what I need? I have included system logs in case they are needed. alisonnas-syslog-20220113-1412.zip
  13. Now it is allowing me to edit a file, buit wont let me copy to the drive. I am so confused with whats happening.
  14. I am not good at explain the way you all do with this stuff, so I will try my best. I originally had my SMB share user as MovieAdmin, then I had some issues connecting and the permission settings were not being righted on Windows, I had dificulty accessing the shares folders. I then changed the share user to movieadmin and the password was changed. Again I had issues, so I changed it again to transfer and again changed the password. It seems that I get a partial connection for some time (sometimes a day) and then I cannot edit files etc. The issue is, my Infuse application is connected to the SMB share usinf the movieadmin credentials. I know this user was deleted, so how is it connecting still. Also my access to read/write is still disconnecting and I don't understand why. I will add the logs. I am new to UNRAID and only want 1 share for viewing/watching the movies and 1 to edit the movies (rename) etc. I only changed the share details because my access via SMB keeps stopping, telling me that I need permssion to edit the file. The strange thing is, I may have edited 10 files just moments before, then I get blocked for some unknown reason. Any help would be appreciated. alisonnas-diagnostics-20211204-0018.zip
  15. I have a 27 TB Movie Collection and I was hoping that there was a faster way to copy files directly from disc? Am I able to temporarily connect a HDD from one device, which is just all movies and plug it in as an Unassigned Drive and just copy all content directly from that? I ask this because I have been using SMB share transferring and it randomly stops after about 15 minutes, requiring me to manually continue the copy proceedure. Of course the amount of hours with only copying at 180 MB/s and until I get my new cables, I cannot copy any faster. I usually have someone who does the copying for me, but I think it's time I learnt to handle it. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
  16. Everything is all set the way I want it. It is now doing the parity synch/ data rebuild. Thank you for all your help.
  17. Thank you, the reboot worked. I have been able to set the 10 TB in Parity 1 and 8 TB in Disk 1. However, I still have no Cache Disk section to be able to assign the SSD.
  18. Yes I did. I selected the right tick option to confirm I wanted to do this. Then selected apply, then done. But I didn't see nothing occur. I would think there would be some visability acknowledging it was happenng.
  19. I don't know why, but it literally will not let me set it how I would like. I have tried using New Config, no change.
  20. Yes, yesterday before I decided to happily rip appart my old NAS for parts I figured I should just be able to reassign the drive accordingly.
  21. I have only just started using NAS systems. I was using a QNAP NAS prior to now, but I wanted some more flexibility when it comes to the amount of drivers etc. I currently have 3 Drives installed in my Chasis. 1 is a 10 TB HDD and another is a 8 TB HDD, the 3rd is a 280 GB SSD. I would like to have the SSD for a cache drive and the 10 TB as the Parity drive, while using the 8 TB HDD as the storage drive things are copied to and read from. The problem I am having is being able to configure the setup correctly. It allows me to set the 10 TB as the parity, but it keeps making me select the SSD as disk 1. I would like the SSD as a chache and as I understand it, I cannot have that assigned to a drive slot if I want to do that. If I leave it unassigned and put the 8 TB in disk 1 spot, it tells me wrong disk, but not much more information. I am having some difficulty formatting too, I can't seem to locate it and I suspect it has to do with the drive issue. I cannot start the array either. I am completely new to UNRAID and currently own a Basic liscence. I learn fast when given the right help, hopefully this can get resolved quickly. I will post the logs. Thank you. tower-diagnostics-20211130-0200.zip
