  1. That's good to know that PCIe 1x slot cards can be 3x? I wonder if some can be 4x?
  2. Sorry if this is asked elsewhere. I do have experience setting up shared folders at work as I was a system admin for 30 years via Novell Netware, Windows servers, Novell Suse. At home I've been using an Ubuntu variant Zorin-Os for file sharing. So the shares I've created on Unraid I have set the following Export Yes (hidden) Security "Private" I have read write, other user accounts read-only My question is about the default Unraid shares. I've set them to domains appdata isos system Export "No" and Security "Public" But wondering if I should set Export to "Hidden" and Security to "Private" giving no one access? On my Ubuntu server using the default firewall, ufw I would close all Samba ports udp 137, 138 & tcp 139, 445. Then open them up for the hosts on my private home network using the following syntax for each of the client's computers who required access. The shares were also accessed via an username and password like Unraid. sudo ufw allow proto udp to any port 137,138 from 10,x,x,x sudo ufw allow proto tcp to any port 139,445 from 10,x,x,x Is this doable or advisable to do in Unraid? Not sure what firewall Unraid is using? I found using "host allow" or "host deny" in the smb.conf did not work for me, So I used the ufw rules which worked 100% of the time after resarting the firewall. Cheers & many thanks... Vetteman
  3. As a newbie to Unraid and a new member to this forum, I find the reply from Trurl very confusing. Is @Switchblade the member responsible for Unraid issues or are we supposed to address @Limetech? Secondly if we are supposed to address it to the attention of the member responsible, how is a newbie supposed to know which member to address his issue to? Is there an index of members and what area of Unraid to send issues to? Thanks kindly...
  4. I do not know what the syntax of this script would look like. No idea. I understand the inittab config is in RAM. But RAM is volatile. So isn't the inittab file loaded from a disk into RAM? Where is this inittab stored at? It must be on the flash drive some where. But I can not seem to locate it.
  5. Not sure what commands or syntax a script would contain to disable Ctrl-Alt-Del. IMHO it would be simpler just to comment out the appropriate line in the inittab config. Thanks kindly...
  6. I was running the vm from the keyboard, monitor and mouse of my Unraid server as I had the vm configured for video & sound passthrough. Cheers
  7. I've had a couple of vms seem to hang so I pressed the three finger salute to reboot the vm guest and my Unraid server rebooted. I did this while accessing the vm from the Unraid server's keyboard, monitor and mouse as I was using pass through for video & sound card. I did some poking arround in the \etc\inittab config and commented out the line ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t5 -r now I did edit \etc\inittab via terminal seesion webgui using, nano putting hashmark "#" in front of line ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t5 -r now I Pressed Ctrl O to save & Ctrl X to exit. I re-opened nano to verify if my changes were indeed saved and they were saved. Next I rebooted the server via the webgui and once the server came back, again via nano I opened the inittab config file and there was NO # in front of "ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t5 -r now". What am I doing wrong? How can I make this a permanent change to the inittab config? Also, this should disable control alt delete from rebooting the host. But will it still allow a reboot of the VM guest? Also are there any good reasons for NOT commenting out this line? Cheers from Nova Scotia & many thanks...
  8. Since there is no way to disable Ctrl-Alt-Del in KVM I will repost this in a different forum here at Unraid as perhaps really be looking at disabling the three finger salute for Unraid.
  9. Is there a way to disable Control Alt Delete in a Virtual Machine? I've had a couple of vms seem to be hung so I pressed the three finger salute and rebooted the Unraid server. I did this while access the vm from the Unraid server as I was using passthrough for gpu, sound card and keyboard & mouse. Thanks very much. Love Unraid...
  10. Sorry to revive this old thread, but I've got this marked on my Amazon wish list. Is anyone using this? I already have a Mediasonic Probox 4 with the Mediasonic e-sata card and it worked fine with Windows 10. I recently had it attached to my Zorin-os PC (based on Ubuntu 20.04) where I had zero issues. Now it's attached to my Unraid server.

Pducharme - I just noticed you live in Sherbrooke, Quebec which is the home of one of my favorite NHL players, David Perron. I believe he had the Stanley Cup in Sherbrooke. Been to Sherbrooke, very nice place and quite hilly in certain areas.

Pducharme - Thanks very much. Looking forward to the journey. Unraid certainly is a very slick and polished program. Made the purchase today for the pro version. The 20% Cyber Monday certainly made it lucrative as an USA dollar is equal to 1.27. So the 20% discount put a nice dent into the exchange rate.

Retired computer tech support for 32 years. Started as a dBase/Visual Basic database programmer for the first 5 years but the rest of my time as system administrator for file & print servers. First with Novell Netware & Citrix Winframe later with Windows server & SUSE samba servers. At home I have a small network of Windows 10 Home PC (used for photo editing of my raw photos shot with Nikon & Olympus DSLRs via Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop), digital illustrations via Photoshop, Corel Painter, ArtRage & Rebelle, 3D modeling via 3DCoat, Blender, Silo3d 2.5, Moi3D, DAZ Studio and 3D rendering in e-onsoftware's Vue, 2nd Windows 10 Home PC using as a NAS via Windows storage space and a linux PC running Zorin-Os which is a Ubuntu 20.04 derivative. All computers were built by me. I take many photos at local classic car shows during the summer as well as landscape photos throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Maine. I also have lots of 3D models I've created or purchased as well as digital illustrations. All assets reside on my photo editing PC and backed up to a mess of 9 external drives plus several portable drives. I stated shucking some of the older 3 & 4TB WD external drives and placing them into a new Corsair 200R case with a Seasonic 650 powersupply. I had an older Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H socket 1150 mobo with I-7-4770S cpu and 32 gbs of memory on my shelf (used to be my photo editing PC). My first thought was about building another Windows 10 storage spaces box or an Ubuntu server using mdadm raid 5 or 6 OR ZFS raidz1 / raidz2. But raid 5/6 seemed too old school. And ZFS raid seemed to waste too much disk space. Then I ran ran into SpaceInvaders youtube channel when I started searching for NAS solutions and alternatives to Windows storage space and Linux mdadm or ZFS pools. After much youtube watching, I downloaded the trial yesterday and was hooked. I'll be purchasing soon. Maybe tomorrow. My hobbies are digital photography, 3D modeling/rendering, digital illustrating, watching NHL hockey (played the sport unit I was 52), antique and classic cars (restored an antique car in 1983 and still own it) and of course computer technology. Cheers and many thanks for creating this wonderful product Unraid.
