  1. If you delete something from hard drive, do you receive the exact same amount of space as the amount of space the deleted file occupied in the hard drive?
  2. How do you store your hard drives? Please share a picture of your setup so I can get an idea on how to store them properly. I’ll share mine first. Here is my setup. https://imgur.com/a/O2pm5fr https://imgur.com/a/mYp3Hop https://imgur.com/a/kU0k3bc Thanks!

  5. Thanks for the info! 🙂 I guess I'm being so paranoid maybe because sometimes I bang the cabinet door without realizing that my external HDDs are inside of it.
  6. Is Seagate’s SeaTools reliable and data-safe?
  7. I know that shock and vibration are the reasons why there is G-Sense Error Rate, but my question is that does it occur only when HDD is in use or in operation or even not in use? For example my external HDD is just sitting peacefully inside my cabinet (not in use) then when I open and close my cabinet to get my other stuff it creates small vibration, does G-Sense Error Rate sense that vibration? Here is where I keep my external HDDs. https://imgur.com/a/mYp3Hop Thanks in advance!

  12. Here is the scenario. I will format my laptop and will backup my files in it. I cut my files and paste it on my Seagate HDD. When I finished formating my laptop, I cut and paste back again the same files back to my laptop. I noticed there is a changed in size on my Seagate HDD. USED SPACE Before: 1,101,750,411,264 After: 1,101,750,415,360 There is 4,096 bytes difference. What do you think it is? Please check these pictures. 15. Should I be worried on G-Sense Error Rate 51 and Write Error Rate 15 on my Seagate External HDD CDI report? G-Sense Error Rate Current Worst Threshold Raw Values 100 100 0 000000000051 Write Error Rate Current Worst Threshold Raw Values 100 100 0 000000000015 https://imgur.com/a/yOKpUcy
  16. Thanks again. How about Read Error Rate and Seek Error Rate? CDI reports random numbers and letters. Should I be worry on that instead?
  17. Thanks JorgeB. But Backblaze says Command Timeout is 1 of the 5 critical attributes of SMART. And it is supposed to be zero on raw value.
  18. My Seagate external HDD has a raw value of 4 on Command Timeout. Should I be worry? Here is my CDI result Current Worst Threshold Raw Value 100 99 0 000000000004
