unraid suddenly not working
Got the array started but my app-data cache seems to be missing or not mounted or mounted in read only for some reason? nas-diagnostics-20230226-1402.zip

unraid suddenly not working
I ended up editing the eth rules config file and renaming te interfaces to eth0 and eth1 and it booted and runs the webpage now... the array wont start because of a stale configuration though... not sure how to fix that. I don't understand how all of the disks can be offline but my docker containers are running...

unraid suddenly not working
Sorry I did not understand from the article that you just type diagnostics at the command prompt, how wonderfully simple! nas-diagnostics-20230224-1407.zip The 10GB add in network card with MAC address 00:02:C9:28:7F:D0 should be getting an IP address of 192.168.0.5 from the DHCP server. I think something is wrong because that should be ETH0 and its not... I dont understand how that could have suddenly changed. I should probably disable the unused Ethernet ports built into the motherboard as they are only 1GB...

unraid suddenly not working
Is there an article somewhere on how to get the diagnostics from the terminal? I've tried searching here and with google with no luck. I even tried searching on how to use the linux diagnostics command with no luck...

unraid suddenly not working
I went to my server rack and found the server running and could login. So I asked unraid to restart which it did and I chose GUI mode during boot. The gui came up and opened a web browser, and could not display the webpage. During bootup I did see that the OS was looking for a file for ethernet config and could not find it. I suspect the HDD with that information died? Is that stored on the USB drive? Theres not much in the GUI... Any help on fixing this would be awesome. I do not see a network control panel anywhere like I'm used to in linux mint on my workstation.

add a new disk to a cache to expand storage and not upset data on current cache disk
Can I just add the new physical disk as BTRFS move data to it, and then format the existing drive and add it as RAID 0?

add a new disk to a cache to expand storage and not upset data on current cache disk
I have a cache for appdata to speed up video recording performance for zoneminder, unfortunately it has all my appdata and VM and docker stuff on it. Right now it is one 3TB HDD, and I would like to add a matching drive to expand it to 6TB. I want to make sure I do this right so I dont upset any of my data on it currently. Also I need to check, but I think my 3 parity array disks and my appdata disk are on my SAS expansion car, and it only has one cable with four ports on it. Can I get a second cable for it and move the current 3TB cache disk to the new cable and add the second disk or will that mess things up? At some point, perhaps first?, It would likely be a good idea to move VMs and other apps off the drive except for zoneminder. I have an 8TB parity array, and I guess I'm just using it for movies, songs, and pictures, storage... I dont think any of the other dockers need to be on the appdata cache I made, it has no redundancy. I do run piehole and unbound as dockers on my unraid, but I think its on the appdata cache, with no redundancy. I dont know if other dockers and VMs will take a huge hit in performance being on the parity array? This is an older 40 thread XEON machine, so not super fast, but lots of threads. nas-diagnostics-20230212-2136.zip

70MB/s Throughput
ok so, bit of an update, but I wonder if the speed issues I'm having are a limitation of the GUI file copy utility I'm using in Linux mint? I happened to be booted into windows on my pc, which you can see the transfer speeds for in linux up above, and in windows I'm basically getting line speed transfers minus over head, so about 100-113 MB/s to and from the unraid server from windows on my PC over a gigibit connection. Has anyone run into this limitation and have a fix? Everything is up to date, except for unraid is on 6.9 I believe...

70MB/s Throughput
Ok, so I went and used my older dell with an ssd in it. Not sure any more of the sata interface speed its using. I got about 80-88 MB/s download from server to my PC off the array using a 9GB file. I then uploaded the file from my pc back to the unraid server onto a cache share using an NVME drive and got 74-75MB/s the whole time... I also tried using a share back to the array directly and got 72-73 MB/s I guess its not the cable in the wall going upstairs to my wifes pc? Not sure what else to test to narrow my problem down.

70MB/s Throughput
The client pc only has one NIC, but I added in a 10GB mellanox card, and put a mikrotik 305 switch inline to hookup the DAC cable to. Not ideal, but it can't possibly be worse. I also setup the brocade 6610 in the rack that the server is in, and connected the unraid server to the 6610 with a DAC. Iperf is similar. I can't get the FSP+ adapters that connect to the RJ45 copper cables in the wall to negotiate between the mikrotik 305 and the brocade 6610 at 10GB, or 1GB, which is odd. I did have a problem in the past with 1GB switches on either side of the cable run in the wall where they would only negotiate 100MB. I discovered that the jack upstairs wasn't punched down correctly and so wasn't using all 4 pairs of wires. Ever since I fixed that I have been getting 1GB to negotiate between the switches on that cable run. So to get communication going I had to attach that cable run to the brocade on a 1GB ethernet port, and hook the mikrotik switch upstairs to the port on the wall through its 1GB port. I'm still only getting 65-72 MB/s data transfer. I wonder if the cable run in the wall is damaged somehow or maybe runs by something causing some sort of EMI interference... I'm thinking its not the NIC or the switches, maybe cable related, and its not a cable I can easily bypass or replace as its a three story house, drywall would have to be cut in several places to run a new cable. I think next step is I go to the second floor and test speeds with my old I7 computer and see what it can transfer at. It only has a SATA SSD in it though, I think that should be fast enough to eclipse GB speeds on the network, I hope...

70MB/s Throughput
the server has four ports, I have two hooked up in fail over mode, would this cause the issue? This PC only has one 2.5GB nic running at 1GB, as I dont have any 2.5GB switches. I could try my PC downstairs. it only has a SATA SSD though... Is there another network throughput test I could run? I have to run and service my bobcat and start laying a gravel road for a neighbor... I'll check in again when I'm done.

70MB/s Throughput
I haven’t tried writing to array directly. The other machine is a fairly modern amd 5600x with a fast nvme drive and 32mn of ram. The iperf tests indicate the network switches are not the problem right? I do have turbo write enabled. I don’t think I have any shares setup for direct copy. I guess I could change one and test it?

70MB/s Throughput
I have confirmed I get near line speed with iperf. 970 down and 850 up. However no matter if I use an SSD cache or an NVME cache, I can only transfer files to my server at about 70MB/s, which is about half line speed 500-550mb/s I can't find the bottle neck. Help? Am I just expecting to much from such an old machine? nas-diagnostics-20220929-2339.zip

Trying to move appdata, domains, and system to a different share
I can’t find the files I need, theres no domains on disk 1 or disk 2, and the appdata folders are empty... as far as I can see... I did see the libvert file in /home/user/system folder I'm, not sure if I should move or where to move it to... the location column lists it as being on the "cach_appdata" folder which is where it should be??? The VM image is looking for it here: '/mnt/user/domains/Ubuntu Server for Kaspa Node/vdisk1.img' and I found it here: /mnt/cache_appdata/system/Ubuntu Server for Kaspa Node Im totally lost on my docker for zoneminder, as its a docker so I expect it to work like all the others and yet it doesnt and gives me an error about its database... I tried removing and reinstalling the docker, which usually helps, and it did not help this time...
