  1. Upgraded server from 4.7 to RC6-R8168. I followed the upgrade instructions found here for 4.7 http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=UnRAID_Server_Version_5.0-beta_Release_Notes. I ran the new permissions util and added my new user. I have been reading / writing / mofying data on the array from my win7 machine with no issues. I just ran into an issue when attempting to rescan yamj from a telnet session - something I have done many times on 4.7 I tried logging into telnet with my custom user but when I enter my password I get a message "Connection to host lost" (I know I'm typing my password correctly) While attempting to troubleshoot I noticed this message attempting to access the flash share. On 4.7 I've had access to this. Could someone please help.
  2. +1 That is exactly what I was thinking... I was going to ask the same question and and Mr. soup already asked... While I know I am guilty of it myself. how much of my 60TB server do I use in a week, month or even a year? I use my unraid box for storing movies that are played back with a popcorn hour. When I go into the theater I want to select any movie and not worry if the that movie is stored on a server that is not powered up. The ability to have my entire collection online all the time using less than 100w is one of the biggest advantages I see with unraid.
  3. Can anyone tell me if this version is working OK with multiple SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards?
  4. How many drives do you want to install in a single server? I'd like to fill my Norco case without the use of a cache drive. So 1 parity and 23 data.
  5. All my drives report as 100% filled with 16-20gb free space and the only time I have ever seen anything close to the issue you describe is when I was ripping and/or running clown_DB on a movie while watching another movie. The one thing I do regularly see, is that a movie will start and 5-10 seconds in will pause for 20 seconds or so then continue on with no issues. I'm fairly certain this only happens when the disc where the movie is located was sleeping before I start to play it.
  6. Might anyone be able to tell me if the primary server in my signature can run V5, and if so which bxx should I use?

    Move News

I do believe the forum has an ignore feature.
  8. The last two months I've gotten 10 parity errors almost immediately (15s) after the check starts. Everything else seems to run just fine. Just curious if there is some underlying problem or something I need to do:
  9. You redeem gift cards to amazon as a credit to your account so there is really only one amount. You just add to it with each card you redeem. Short answer - yes
  10. DOH ... that is what I should do!!! Hmm maybe I WILL buy another drive EDIT: wait huh ... how do you do that? How do you get newegg.com to allow you to pay with multiple cards? That's what I would like to know. It's painful sometimes to deal with the rebate cards. I actually prefered the checks. at least then I received the whole amount. How do you make an exact purchase of $10.00? Or how do you extract them into a paypal account? I dunno how this plastic card is any more efficient then a check, nor is it better for the environment. More efficient - nope. More profitable - you bet your a..! Check the terms that come with them. After a few months they start charging fees just to have the card. Then people don't use the whole thing - leave $1.50 on the card and that $1.50 more than they would have paid out with a check. This is why I immediately turn them into Amazon or Newegg gift cards - no strings there and I'm always buying something from these guys.
  11. DOH ... that is what I should do!!! Hmm maybe I WILL buy another drive EDIT: wait huh ... how do you do that? How do you get newegg.com to allow you to pay with multiple cards? Use the Hitachi rebate card to buy a newegg gift card. You can use multiple newegg gift cards per purchase.
  12. Purchased 2 more - used rebate cards from the last four toward the cost.
  13. I don't find the Norco any more or less difficult to lift or move than the Antec 1200.
  14. The #1 reason I have not being able to stop one of my unRAID servers is that Cache Dirs is running. Once I quit that I can then shut down.
  15. Norco is a rack mount case which for me was a con - still got it though due to cost. My $.02 - If the max drives you anticipate is 10-12 forget the Norco, but be sure that's th most you may ever need.
  16. A 1 male to 7 female molex splitter is just ridiculous. It is also a single point a failure and I suggest NOT using something like that. Generally I agree but I'm not sure that it really matters. It's not possible to have each drive on completely independent power runs so the failure of any power cable will affect more than one drive.
  17. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145475 Rebate is for purchases in August and limited to two drives.

    Norco 4224 Thread

I find this really hard to believe but I'm seeing a good difference in temperature just from covering these case holes with tape - I have not done anything with the holes in the fanwall yet. In the first image I'm rebuilding the parity drive and in the second I'm rebuilding drive7. In both instances the rebuild is due to swapping a 7200 drive with a 5400 drive.
  19. If you are planning to upgrade to a monster Norco sometime later get the 750 watt power supply . The 650 would probably do fine but that little extra gives some peace of mind especially if you have any 7200 rpm drives. It's also $5 cheaper than the 650 today only http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL080411&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL080411-_-EMC-080411-Latest-_-PowerSupplies-_-17139021-L0C
  20. These worked well for me http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220790124517&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
  21. Interesting, they showed $99 for me earlier today (no $20 off which has pretty much been standard for months). $79 now though. I'll still wait for a better price. Also got 5 $10 visa cards (turned into 5 $10 Newegg gift cards) a couple days ago from my last round of purchasing this drive.
  22. Yep, I was debating this for a while myself and decided to go ahead and do it. I went to order them and noticed the rebate only allowed 2 drives rather than 5. Odd as it may seem this made me change my mind and I decided to stick with the 2tb drives.
