I have very bad experience with btrfs and would like to avoid it - but might be an option as I would not create a raid with it. Do you happen to have some scripts to tinker around with?

Hi Guys, I'm using the usual script to backup several VM's every day. I have about 700GB of images and the backup takes very long. Sure, it's writing images to a hdd which doesn't go beyond 150mb/s. I'm wondering what strategies/solutions you use to improve that process? What I have in mind right now is backing up to cache and having the mover transfer the files "later" to the hdd's, but I'm hoping for better ideas.

Hi guys, I'm experiencing some weird behaviour. The second day in a row my server has become unresponsive over night. It drops from the network. I can access the local console, but nothing will be executed -> I can log in, but neither diagnostics, nor shutdown or reboot will do anything. I attached the syslog and I'll add a diagnostics if required, but it's gonna be after the reboot. Is there something visable in the log or is there something I can do to get more details on these "crashes"? syslog

Is it possible to run a Docker container, that can access and manage another Container? What I want to do is, to check if a container is running, and if not just start it - maybe I don't need another docker for that

It's loud, but that goes for every UPS of that size. Don't even think of putting it anywhere close to the livingroom.

Works like a charm, no issues. Had several power downs and my server just kept running - switch without any trouble. Unraid integration works just fine. Maybe I'll get an extra batteries to go to 5400watt as it would cover 99% of the outages on the Powergrid here. Right now the server will shut down in 50% of the cases... I'm wondering if it could boot up once power is restored

I already enabled it - is there a way to get a diagnostic on kernel panic? Or shall I try to create some kind of scheduler to grad diagnostics every xx minutes?

Hi Guys, I just had a kernel panic and the server crashed - I could take a pic of what was on the screen, but I don't have the system log. Diagnostics are attached - anything I can investigate or is something visable on the data I provided? knowlage-diagnostics-20200909-0948.zip

Hi Guys, I can hear a disk failing (this evil spinning sound), but I cant figure out which one it is. My parity is stuck at 86% and tell me it need another 14 days to complete. I attached the diagnostics, but maybe someone has an idea how to figure out the evil disk..? knowlage-diagnostics-20200902-2342.zip P.S. Hi Guys, I'm running an Adaptec HBA 1000 and it's doning fine. But what about the "better" Adaptec controller, like the SmartRAID series or even the HBA 1100 - are those supported by unraid?

My PSU is quite overpowered (corsair 1200) and I seem not to have ran into those kind of issues yet. I'm trying to use mostly the PSU power cables, some adapters are needed. Worst case would be around 8 drives at one PSU rail.

Not sure what's happening. Disks keeps dropping and today the suspicious parity disk dropped. @johnnie.black I had a hard time finishing even the short test, but I'll try and trigger the extended. Waiting for a spare to arrive and start replacing disks just to verify if they are good.

So basically a 'maybe'. Time to replace it then. Not the first time that guy dropped. If someone with more understanding of smart reads this, I'd welcome more input. Meanwhile waiting for that spare to arrive

I had a dropped disk (disk1) and found out it had tons of CRC errors. So I changed the cables. Here I attached the recent diagnostics - what do you think? Keep it or replace it? knowlage-diagnostics-20200816-1418.zip P.S: I'm trying to run a simple smart test, but it seems to hang at 90%... doesn't look good?...

I'd like to create a windows VM which can not access the Lan nor the server itself. My scenario is like this: Send a WoL to the machine (done) VPN into the network with only access to the VM (the VM will probably have a static IP... and now?) VM can go to the internet, but can't do anything local This is probably possible, but I don't really know where to start... Wireguard is up and running and I do have access to all kind of router configrations.
