MacOS Time machine
Hi. So my issue does not seem to be mapping or that my MacBook can not make backups, it does. However, when I enter Time Machine I only see backups going back about 2-3 days, even if it has done backups for a long time... any help/tips on this would be really appreciated.

MacOS Time machine
Hi. I am a new unraid user. I set up time-machine as per instructions (the ability built in not an application). Backups work fine. Plenty of space on drive/share. However Time Machine only backs up a day or two. That is when going into Time Machine I can only access current day and maybe 1-2 day back, even if I backup every day for months. Please advise.

So if anyone is interested. I actually just changed my torrent client on the Mac (from u-torrent) and it solved my problem. Go figure.

SMB Share to Unraid NAS dropping all the time (Mac)
I have an unraid NAS, no issues as far as I know. BUT... when I map a share to my Mac 1 Mini it works fine, but... then it drops, simetimes in 10min sometimes in a day... It just disconnects. Then I map the drive again, and it works.. then it starts over. Any tips welcome.

Some problems with warnings: pool BTRFS too many profiles...
So I did that. Seemed to work (to be honest I do not know other than I have not got any errors). But, I did a "balance" on my plex cache and then got an error. REALLY sorry for being such a nube guys...

Storage only case for lots of storage
Hi. I am looking for a good (high quality) Mini SAS SFF-8088 to SAS36P SFF-8087 card (to convert my LSIBroadcom SAS 9305-24iPCIe 3.0 x8) to expansion to one external case to fit more discs (I assume I need an additional card in the other case too)... the Silverstone solution looks good... BUT can not get hold of it. DO you have any tips on new cards that are available?

UnRaid speeds
Read up on that. Two things, can you enable turbo write for a while (e.g. during large transfers) then disable it? (obviously wo having to redo all stuff)...?

UnRaid speeds
Hi. The way I ”measure” is on dashboard it says inbound for the NIC. It states ”361.0 Mbps” for ex. So assumed it is bit.

UnRaid speeds
Hi. I have a Epyc, 128GB RAM, Supermicro MB with 10Gbit LAN, running 10Gbit... and running Ironwolf PROs 18TBs disks (five in array, no cache), no other items or VMs (Krusader docker). I am copying from a high end RAID5 NAS to the UnRaid server (using Krusader, mounted the RAID5 NAS into Unraid). I get transfer speeds constantly of about 250Mbps... I understand Unraid is not raid. But this seems a slow to me. Tips would really be appreciated.

SAS, HBA, Expansion card, LSI - help
Guys, need some guidance. Building a unRaid server (Epyc, Supermicro MBD-H12SSL-NT-O, 12-16 Seagate Ironwolf Pro 18TB, x2 SSDs x2 TB). I was looking at the LSI Broadcom SAS 9305-24i to connect all my drives. I want something rock solid, one card, that has ability for expansion, but just will work and does not bottle neck the performance in any way. The issue: the 9305-24i is not in stock here. Is there a good alternative (better is fine, more expensive is fine) Overkill is preferable ;). New not used please... and optimally works in unRaid... Please advise.

High end-ish nas
So an update: This is my config so far: - MB: Asrock ROMED8-2T - CPU: AMD EPYC 7282 2.8GHz Socket SP3 Processor - RAM: Looking for 128GB, 3200, ECC - Controller: LSI Broadcom SAS 9305-24i PCIe 3.0 x8 - Cache disks: Samsung 980 PRO 2000GB M.2 2280 PCI Express 4.0 x4 (NVMe) x2 in RAID 1 - Power: Corsair HX Series HX1200 1,200W 80 PLUS Platinum - UPS: APC Smart-UPS 1500VA LCD 230V With Smartconnect - Drives: Seagate Ironwolf Pro 18TB x 12 (incl. x2 for parity) - Case: Corsair 7000D AIRFLOW (will do some modding - but can not find an unugly case that is non-rack that fits ... suggestions welcome) - lots of airflow, quiet build enables with large fans on low rpm) Questions: for the ROMED8-2T: since I will not be using a GPU, I assume I can (and should use) one of the x16 slots for the LSI controller. Will this be enough band-width for the disks? Should I use the on-board M2 slots for the cache disks or buy an extension card for best stability/performance? Ideas on which one if so? The AMD EPYC 7282 is chosen for many PCI lanes and OK performance. Is there any other alternative for lower power consumption but the keeping lanes and performance? (prefer not to venture into older intel) but newish HW that is available new and at the approx price point as for the 7282. RAM: Looking at the compatibility list ( https://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=ROMED8-2T#Memory ) and seeing what I can find in stock. Do any of you have an idea if it is better to go with 4 or 8 sticks (does it matter?) and rec would be great here on which to use and where to get hold of it Thank you very much for any input.

is a Ryzen 9 5950X any good for Unraid
Hi. Sorry for being a newbie. I am in the build stage. I need a fast NAS (should be able to access my 4K/Atmos stuff) and also backup, maybe little VMs, but not sure. No gaming. No GPU. I want to use 12-18 discus (Seagate Ironworlf Pros 18TB). So given this. Do I need more PCI lanes than offered by a AMD Ryzen Cpu? Or should I buy a low-end Xeon? Any CPU/card recommendations are appreciated. Oh, thinking of the Broadcom SAS 9305-24iPCIe 3.0 x8 for the drives.

High end-ish nas
Hi. Lolight: liked your build So I have been tinkering and thinking. Hardware thoughts are many. Thinking of: (and please be patient): - Corsair HX Series HX1200 1,200W 80 PLUS Platinum - LSI Broadcom SAS 9305-24i PCIe 3.0 x8 - Startech1m Internal Mini SAS to SATA Cable1m 36-stifts 4x mini-SAS HD (SFF-8643) Kontakt 7-stifts seriell ATA - 12x Seagate Ironwolf Pros 18TB (this is the only thing I have already) - 7000D airflow case (I have xtra drive cages for this one)... but optimally looking for a good case that fits A LOT of drives (R7 maybe, but would prefer a cube) Now, to my issues... I love AMD, know almost nothing about intel. I would like to have this machine as a server and where I place my 4k Atmos movies (play with wired Apple TV and other streamers)... and for backup etc. So a NAS really. Maybe play with some other stuff like surveillance and a VM or two, but nothing heavy, no gaming. I am worried about PCI lanes of a "normal" ryzen, but then a threadripper eats a lot of money (coming close to buying a QNAP)... Would a low end Xeon be better (I can only do new parts as I buy it via my company so no 2nd hand stuff). Any tips on a good MB and CPU combo would be great (I do not want this devise to be slower than my previous 3622 synology) Tnx

The Enclosure Thread
Hi. I have had synnology solutions. It is a small box really (the desktop ones like 3622). Why are there not any cases like that to buy? I mean it is a box….

I was thinking of AMD to gett ECC support wo having to go ”all server”. If inte what would you choose?

High end-ish nas
Hi. i have used Synology but got so angry when thry tried to force me to use their disks. I am moving to unraid (i hope). Buildling my own which is going to be fun (again i hope would really appreciate some tips. Can anyone give some tips? Money is not really an issue (company) so would like high end stable low power amd. I have 12x seagate ironwolf pro 18TB already. want a desktop nas not rack. would love some tips on good HW combo.
