  1. anyone know how passthrough works with AMD cards and say kodibuntu since it doesnt work with OE?
  2. OK, figured it out. Seems I was looking for the disk label and never saw the item "disks" . After looking at your post a few times. It finally clicked. Thanks
  3. So when using it, use it from the mnt point I see in Windows as unRAID won't list it as a disk to put a share onto on the shares page, yes?
  4. Am I able to place my vm disks and or docker image/folders on an unassigned disk? I added a SSD as an unassigned disk to my array, I can see the disk/share from a remote system just fine, but when I go to add a share within unraid that I can use within the system, the disk is not listed for use. Is this outside of the scope for the unassigned disk plugin or am I doing something wrong? All I want is to be able to mainly use the SSD for VM disks as opposed to leaving them on my cache disk which is a standard HDD and houses my docker image and app folders.
  5. I remember seeing a guide with all the post install steps that are recommended but I cannot seem to find it. It discussed things like disable sleep, disk spin down, and some other basic tweaks to make the vm run better. I know it is out there, but I am having issue finding it at the moment
  6. I want to add my vms (vdisk folder) to my unassigned disk, but want to be sure I am doing it correctly. First, I added the disk and I formatted it and mounted it. In my main view, i now see the disk and also the formatted volume underneath. I then mounted the disk. 2 things at this point. 1. I assume I need a volume formatted to user the thing 2. do I have to share the volume to use it and add a share to it I do not want the disk to show up when browsing shares on my server, not sure if it is possible to hide it or not. I really just want to use it for vms and nothing else. Am I doing it right and just have to share the disk or is there a better way to do it?
  7. Yeah, plus it sucks running Windows in the basement to get to kodi. I can get by, but it is utter crap. The only plus is, I have force stopped it and it comes back fine.
  8. are you telling us you have bitstreaming with OE and and AMD video card in a VM on unraid?
  9. so, I finally finished doing it. installed windows 10 with kodi, win10 native AMD drivers give me perfect passthrough and HD audio bitstreaming in a VM. so yes, as we know, the linux AMD drivers suck and until they are fixed, used the Nvidia 720. or wait for the noted above news for maybe a real fix from AMD, but who knows when that will be.
  10. I am seeing this message on the console over and over. My assumption would be that it is from the system temp plugin, but I am not sure. If I go to the plugin settings and click detect drivers, nothing happens.
  11. Ah, makes sense. I was thinking that would want a reboot and I would have to run an actual command via SSH. Thanks . back in business
  12. you are correct. I did not. I saw mention of a hotfix last night, but never thought to install it. now if only I knew the command to restart libvirt via ssh.
  13. what is the command to actually restart libvirt via ssh?
  14. what do i do with this, just add it once? 07:00.0 0200: 8086:1533 (rev 03) 08:00.0 0200: 8086:1533 (rev 03)
  15. I had some vms created and working before my flash drive went bad. replaced the flash, but now when unraid comes up, my vms will not start. 16. yes for the flash device with the OS. I was looking to purchase a new flash drive and the question was between the 8GB 2.0 and the 16GB 3.0 and if the $2 was worth it. Not a huge savings, but if it is for something that will never be touched, then why bother with the 3.0. @john_M I have my flash stick plugged into the USB 3 port right now, so booting from the port would appear supported.
  17. Does unRAID benefit at all from the increased speed provided by USB 3.0?
  18. That's perfect, thanks And that's automatic right?
  19. I assume with unraid the disks are thick provisioned as opposed to thin? Is this the only option for disk format/creation within unraid/KVM?
  20. By the way, it seems my issue with the mobo dimm slot was that I had a mount post where it shouldn't be and when dimm c was populated, I was shorting it out... Also, the message telling me I'm running at 1867mhz for memory is simply because that's what my processor supports and not because of some issue, so accept and continue, right,?
  21. gary, with this mobo, can I put 6 dimms into the 8 slots or is is better to be at 4/8?
  22. Do you have any vms that work or is this your only vm? Also, as mentioned about the video card,do you have 2 physical cards or onboard video + the one being passed?
  23. is there any way to get the discogs plugin added to the container? every time things update you need to install it again. not hard, but I see it as an essential plugin for times musicbrainz doesnt have the goods album in the DB
