  1. Well, I guess I'm confused between UnMenu and unRaid Main..... When I log in with Tower:8080, I have those different tabs. When I click on "unRaid Main", it works. But when I click on another tab (myMain for example) and come back to unRaid Main, the page is blank However, when I log in with Tower, I get the right page with the tabs Main, Shares, Users, Settings, Utils By the way, unRaid 5.0.5 is not beeping twice anymore when the array is ready?
  2. I did it.....it doesn't change anything!!! I'm using Firefox
  3. OK, new permissions is completed.....took 35 min But i still have the issue with unRaid Main: it's a blank page !!!!
  4. Grrr........... Yes, I have a bunch of file (especially all those TV shows with so many seasons and up to 25 episodes by season) However, it's not millions of course I have something like 4TB of data Wait a minute: to check how much data I had, I went onto MyMain tab. And now, when I go back to UnRaid Main tab, it's a blank page again !!!!
  5. Well, I rebooted the server, and now it seems to be fine Array is started, and I have set "enable auto start" in disk settings Now, I'm running New Permissions............it says it can be long, depending on the qty of files. Are we talking about a few minutes, 30 min, 1 hour or the whole night? Thanks
  6. I'm upgrading from 4.7 to 5.0.5...............finally But after I restarted the array, unRaid Main is now blank !!! What should I do?
  7. Who knows if this item allows to access network shares, such as Unraid? http://www.roku.com/products/streaming-stick My WD TV Live works perfectly, but I saw that Roku and was wondering if it will work the same............
  8. Hello I’ve just upgraded my desktop with a bigger SSD The “old” one, a Kingston 64GB, still has Windows 7 installed on it, and I’m planning to use it as a cache drive Should I format it before, or Unraid will take care of it?
  9. I will try with different cables. I could even try with another router (I have a spare DIR655) However, a bad cable or port would affect both Read AND Write speeds, don't you think?
  10. I mainly copy my files (videos) to my Unraid by wifi. I usually have speed around 8-10MB/sec...not bad over wifi I wanted to verify the speeds out of my desktop, wired (gigabit network) All my tests were done by copy/paste a 1,4Gb file between my desktop and the server, with Windows 7 explorer 1st test: read and write around 11MB/sec.............hurghhh!!! I guess i have something wrong in my cabling 2nd test: I plugged my desktop directly into my router, were the server is already hooked up. Read speed @ ~35MB/sec and write speed @ ~26MB/sec 3rd test: server and desktop plugged on a gigabit switch after the router - approximately the same speeds 4th test: with Teracopy - no improvement in the write speed, but read speed is slower (~28MB/sec vs 35MB/sec) So I think I'm happy. My next test will be with a cache drive Are those speeds from test 2 and 3 normal speeds? Is there something to do to have higher speeds? All my drives are green drives, my main router is a Dlink DIR655 and the gigabit switch is a Trendnet green 5 ports Thanks
  11. In my version of unMENU (Ver 1.6), it is on the 'Array Management' page. Called "Verify Parity but do NOT Correct it" That's what I was referring to ... and it's very prominent on the Array Management page (as I noted before). If you don't see it, you likely have an older version of UnMenu. You can either upgrade your UnMenu version before you start with the UnRAID upgrades (you'll want v1.6 anyway with v5 UnRAID) ... or you can simply run the normal parity check (which is what I'd do). What is impacting the parity check duration? Is it CPU, or the speed of the drives? I've approximately 4Tb of data....How long should it last, roughly?
  12. I'd do a "regular" check, but as you can see from a variety of posts, many prefer to do non-correcting checks. This is simple with v5, but v4.7 does not provide for a non-correcting check. If you want to do a non-correcting check, you need to install UnMenu (unless you already have it installed) ... and there's an option on the Array Management page to do a non-correcting parity check. I do have UnMenu installed, but I don't see where to select a non-corrective parity check !!!
  13. No, i haven't done the upgrade yet.....I've been busy today. But the backup of the flash drive is done, and also the screenshot of the web GUI's main page (i've learned all of that by reading different posts ) I will do a parity check as recommended, but: should i do a non-correcting (if yes, how by the way) or a regular parity check? Thanks
  14. OK, I will try today to upgrade from 4.7 to 5.0.5 I need to add a data drive, so I want to install at least a 3TB drive (well, I will probably start with a new 3TB for parity, and reuse the current 2TB parity drive as a data drive) I will strictly follow the instructions from the wiki: Version 4.7 1) Prepare the flash: either shutdown your server and plug the flash into your PC or Stop the array and perform the following actions referencing the flash share on your network: - Copy the files bzimage and bzroot from the zip file to the root of your flash device, overwriting the same-named files already there. - If present, delete these files from the flash (sorry, you will have to re-enter all your users after booting this release): config/passwd config/shadow config/smbpasswd 2) Reboot your server. Once boot-up has completed, you should see "Stopped. Configuration valid." array status with all disks assigned correctly except for the Cache disk. If you previously had a Cache disk assigned, you will need to re-assign it manually and re-apply any unique configuration settings for it. 3) Carefully examine the Identification strings for each disk. If you see "MBR: error", or "MBR: unknown" for any disk, do not Start the array; instead post your finding in the Forum announcement thread for this release. If everything looks ok, click Start to bring the array on-line. Note: there is a new configuration setting on the Disk Settings page called "Enable auto start". If you set this to "Yes", then upon next server boot, if the array is valid, then it will be automatically Started (this is the old behavior). 4) Go to Utils/New Permissions and execute that utility to change file ownership and permission settings. This is necessary for proper operation of the 5.0 security model. 5) Go to Users page and re-enter all of your users. If you plan on using SMB and/or AFP with either Secure or Private security mode, you must enter at least one user because the 'root' user name is no longer permitted for network share authentication. For step (1), bzimage and bzroot files must be extracted before being copied on the flash, is that right?
  15. I did shutdown the server yesterday night (pressed the power button briefly) and started it again and I could access my shares. This morning, it says Parity OK, and everything looks good Don't know what happened Thanks......
