  1. Noob Q : It looks like OpenFlixr by default looks for all the dir mount points used by all the services/apps to be local to the OpenFlixrVM - so /mnt/movies , /mnt/downloads etc. If I already have all these as shares in unraid would it make sense to just mount them as NFS? So unraidserver/movies would be NFS mounted to /mnt/movies on the OpenFlixr server. Is that Linux 101 and I will get flamed for bringing it up ? Any pitfalls to that? Looking forward to playing with this new server - it looks great! Thanks, Mark
  2. Thanks for the responses - I ran a parity check and chose the option "Write corrections to parity disk". Which I guess is different than a rebuild. I have since run 2 parity checks with that option enabled and found zero errors. Is the only way to do a parity rebuild to go to Utils and do a New Config and then assign the drives? Is this the next step I should do? I was planning on running it for a while - I am a little chicken to try and reproduce the problem. Thanks, Mark
  3. I ran Memtest for a few passes and that was error free. Then I ran dosfsck on the SD Card - came up with a bunch of differences. I told it to repair them and it seemed to work. Then I rebooted but it would not boot to Unraid. I replaced the Unraid SD card with another one and formatted it restored my Unraid 5 config files. After the array came up I put it in maintenance mode and let it rebuild parity just because it hadnt had a chance and with all the issues it seemed like a good idea. Plus it would stress the drives a bit and I wanted to exercise them a bit to see if they were OK. Parity check finished - Last checked on Thu Jul 9 14:33:05 2015 PDT (today), finding 9595317 errors. > Duration: 16 hours, 47 minutes, 38 seconds. Average speed: 66.2 MB/sec 9.5 Million parity errors seems pretty high.... After the parity finished I started reiserfsck the disks. One of my drives had some errors that needed fixing which I did using the rebuild-tree command. I reran reiserfsck on it again and it came up clean. Since the errors/crashes I was having seemed to be during heavy writes - I copied a few large files to some shares. Including some to the cache drive. Nothing seemed to go wrong.... I will update when I get brave enough to start using the VM again and DL NZBs. Thanks for all the help so far. Mark
  4. So I downgraded to version 5 smoothly. But as soon as I started up my VM and starting DL NZBs ....bang, lost all access to the server - I couldn't even ping it let aside telnet to it. I captured a screen from the console that was connected to it and there are a bunch of reiserfs i/o calls? At this point it isn't a v6 issue maybe some sort of corruption in the file system. Looks like I am going to FSCK until I am SICK of it.
  5. Here is the diag files - whilst the issue is still occurring before I reboot the PC. vader-diagnostics-20150708-1117.zip
  6. Hi All - thanks for the reply. I used the 'wget' command to fetch the unRAIDServer.plg file and copied over the config files per the instructions, which seemed to work fine. I came from 5.06. I had a drive go red ball after the initial upgrade but a reboot fixed it. During another reboot it red balled again so I played around with drive/slots and cables and eventually it seems to have come back - or at least it has persistently stayed up. I had the same thing happen to another drive slot and that I am ignoring for now since it doesn't have any data on it and I may just remove it from the array once I downgrade. I have also have had issues with permissions and not being able to access my Public shares so I ran the New Permissions script a few times and then rebooted which seemed to fix it. I thought it was strange a reboot was required. I am also running a VM on another PC but it uses the Unraid server to host its VMDKs (on cache not Moved) and to access the Unraid shares where most of my NW files are stored. As soon as I start DL an NZB with SABNZB on the VMPlayer, I lose access to the Unraid Webgui and the drives shares and have to hard power down the Unraid server to get it back. I have access to the telnet console but the powerdown script wont work. I have had zero systematic issues on 5 or 4 over the years but seemed to have pressed my luck with 6. I love Unraid but need to roll back for stability purposes. It is actually in the hung up state right now - I have no Webgui, no Shares but do have telnet access. I telneted in and made a copy of my syslog so on reboot it wouldn't be deleted. I further discovered - it looks like the shares come in and out of responsiveness. Meaning you \\share and it hangs up explorer for 10-15mins but then shows up for a minute or 2 and then is gone again. I felt I should explain my situation a little better and post a syslog since it may help the team discover the bugs. I think after a reboot to clear it up the GUI and shares I should run fsck/reiserfsck cause of all the dirty powerdowns I have had. Thanks All. Mark syslog_markro1.zip
  7. How do I go about downgrading from 6.01 back to 5.0 (Stable)? I have had issues all over the place; drives disappearing, shares unresponsive/disappearing, WEBGUI unresponsive, it has been a massive pain. I have had to reset or power down my system 10 times in 4 days because of all the crashes/issues. If I hadn't been an unraid user for the past 5 years I would be looking elsewhere. All my shares are reiserfs. I just want to go back to my safe and happy place. If all my shares are reiserfs and I have a copy of my flash dir before I upgraded to 6 can I just recopy over the flash dir again? Thanks, Mark
  8. I upgraded from 5.05 to 6.01 yesterday and have been running into a few missing drive / red ball issues with a particular slot. At first I thought maybe it was a bad drive - I had some unclean reboots after I upgraded but now I am leaning towards a Unraid issue or a bad slot in the cage/controller. I have replaced the drive once and it doesn't seem to have resolved the issue. Attached is my diagnostic files, a screen of my main drives and my system info. At this point I am looking for some more experienced eyes but I don't have many options besides try another slot. I upgraded using the plugin method which seemed to work fine - "Use 'wget' command to fetch the unRAIDServer.plg file" Thanks for the help! Mark markro1_missingdrive_diags.zip
  9. Here is my disk status before the upgrade (from 4.7) The recent Parity Check came back fine. Thanks Mark
  10. I just upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0-rc3 and when the server came back up one of my disks was missing - "Stopped. Missing disk." It is an Intel SS4200-E that I have been running unraid on for a few years now and running 4.7 for a year with no known issues. I tried selecting the drive (sdc) from the drop down on the main screen where it should be but it didnt seem to do anything. Attached is my syslog. I disabled any addons from the go script and rebooted with no change. The drive is a WDC_WD20EARS. This stands out in the syslog or maybe it is just a consequence of the drive being missing: (I removed a bunch of these redundant errors from the syslog to reduce the attachment size) May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: ata4.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x0 May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: ata4.00: irq_stat 0x40000001 May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: ata4.00: failed command: READ DMA EXT May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: ata4.00: cmd 25/00:01:af:88:e0/00:00:e8:00:00/e0 tag 0 dma 512 in May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: res 51/01:01:af:88:e0/00:00:e8:00:00/e0 Emask 0x1 (device error) May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: ata4.00: status: { DRDY ERR } May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: ata4.00: configured for UDMA/33 May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Unhandled sense code May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Result: hostbyte=0x00 driverbyte=0x08 May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Sense Key : 0x3 [current] [descriptor] May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: Descriptor sense data with sense descriptors (in hex): May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: 72 03 13 00 00 00 00 0c 00 0a 80 00 00 00 00 00 May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: e8 e0 88 af May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] ASC=0x13 ASCQ=0x0 May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] CDB: cdb[0]=0x28: 28 00 e8 e0 88 af 00 00 01 00 May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 3907029167 May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: Buffer I/O error on device sdc1, logical block 3907029104 May 19 13:24:47 Tower kernel: ata4: EH complete When I roll back to 4.7 everything seems to work fine. I just noticed I havent done a parity check in a year - could that have anything to do with it? Maybe if I do it will uncover a disk problem? I am currently running a parity check. Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark syslog.txt
  11. http://www.newegg.com/Special/ShellShocker.aspx?cm_sp=ShellShocker-_-559282-_-11192010 This is what I run my unraid NAS off. Perfect for those just starting and need a 'small' (it isnt really small) 4 Drive Nas. It is a fully functioning quiet 4 drive server that is unraid capable. Getting it to boot off USB permanently requires an older video card however or an adapter - google it. But for 179 bucks you get a Unraid Capable Quiet server and a 1TB drive.
  12. I have used Boxee on the AppleTv with Unraid - works fine as far as Unraid is concerned. Any limitations I found were usually on the ATV/Boxee side. Like Atv doesnt do 720p easily or the Boxee being a little buggy. I flip flip between ATV and the PS3 Media server on my PS3. You should try PS3Media server - it is a generic UPNP server and will work for a ton of players including the 360. There is a detailed forum post on it somewhere. I tried Twonky and Tversity but always seem to go back to PS3MS. When the Boxee Box is realized I will probably ditch my ATV and get one of those. Since I have never used the ATV for ATV stuff.
  13. This worked like gangbusters for me! I love it. I just downloaded the All in One package Romir posted on Page 4 http://www.bibliognome.com/unraid/SABnzbd-0.5.0-i586-unRAID.tgz Copied it to the dir on the flash Added this to my Go Script # SABnzbd Install cd /boot/custom/usr/share/packages/SABnzbd/ installpkg *.tgz python SABnzbd.py -d -f /boot/custom/SABnzbd/SABnzbd.ini And then opened up http://tower:88 and it was done. Awesome Job folks.
  14. I got a SS4200 Yesterday - Unraid installed last night. So far all I have done is getting it up and running with a 300GB Sata Drive and 1TB Parity and got PS3MS running on it. The PS3MS thing is HUGE for me. Still mucking around with it. If you read online alot people had to do messed up stuff to get it to boot from USB cause the default is IDE-SATA-USB i nthe bios. So at first I though I would need a video card to go into bios and change the boot order. But there is not slot video for just a 1x pcie. If you do end up getting it - You can get by with out a Video Card PCI-E 1x hack install. Just hold down the reset button at the back when you press the power button and it boots from the USB not from the IDE-DOM or the SATA - but you need to do this for each boot. I didnt really want to have to dremel anything to get video working on it. I also upgraded the RAM to 1GB. For 150 bucks you cant got wrong.... I have spent more than that on mini-itx cases. The thing just feels sturdy. I am an Unraid Newb but So Far so good! Going to try out teracopy or fast copy cause my Windows7 Explorer connection seems to bomb out. Actually it looks like my RW network speeds cap at 2.3Mbps. Not sure what the problems is I posted in the 4.4 Forum http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=5690.0
