What is your go-to HDD manufacturer?
Recently bought 2 WD Gold 16TB. First time I bought HDD in about 10 yrs. All SSD & NVME until I switched to Unraid.

My Servers Error Message: "DNS issue, unable to resolve wanip4.unraid.net" but still reachable
Gotcha. I will do that once my Parity Sync is done. Thanks for the info.

My Servers Error Message: "DNS issue, unable to resolve wanip4.unraid.net" but still reachable
That's what I understood from the forums to route everything to pihole and have pihole set the DNS to 1.1.1.1. I set my Unraid's DNS IP to my Router's then my router's DNS is pointing to pihole which uses the 1.1.1.1 DNS Server. What would be the best way to go about it?

My Servers Remote Access Secure?
Thanks! I actually have both Remote Access and Wireguard set up. I guess I could use the my servers for quick connect remotely when I have my VPN turned on, since connecting through wireguard requires me to turn my commercial VPN off and connect to the wireguard tunnel.

My Servers Error Message: "DNS issue, unable to resolve wanip4.unraid.net" but still reachable
Hi, I just recently got this My Servers Error Message: "DNS issue, unable to resolve wanip4.unraid.net" but I can remote access actually works. Not sure why it's saying that, though, I recenlty have set up pihole and set my unraid server's DNS to my Router which points back to pihole's Server, and router's IP as backup, but set router's DNS to point to pihole as well. attaching screenshot for reference.

Server Crashed during parity build
Yes, I was explicitly setting the frequency to 2933Mhz as per official supported RAM speed for 4 slots pre-crash. I've set everything on auto after reboot which the RAM sets to its default 3200Mhz CL14, and just set the DRAM Voltage to auto. That is why the diganostics show 3200Mhz CL14, and disabled one of my dockers that uses br0 which one reddit user suggested of a common br0 issue with macvlan, which crashes the whole system with it on 6.10.3. So far it's been up for 12hrs and parity rebuild almost done. Will see how long the RAM config lasts before it crashes.

Server Crashed during parity build
*** UPDATE #2 *** Disabling vCore offset mode and set to auto did the trick while enabling XMP on my RAM but I have 4 Samsung B-Die 3200Mhz CL14 @ 1.35v RAM which had no errors on memtests a while back when I ran it. Unraid Server has been running w/o any crashes now, despite enabling XMP which can increase instability rather than setting it to 2933Mhz ; but everything seems to be stable now. The downside is that my CPU (Ryzen 3800X) runs hot (PBO on Auto) on idle at 50 C - 60 C, and goes to 70 C - 75 C during load based on Tctl. I wish I could lower the voltage but I don't want any instability at the moment while I'm finalizing all my Parity Sync, Time Machine, and Windows VM Backups. But uptime currently more than 2 days which is very promising! *** UPDATE *** Unraid server seems to freeze/hang during idle or when there's close to nothing going on, and with vCore on Offset mode. Seems like vCore too low during idle that causes instability, so I disabled offset mode and just set it on auto. Seems to be working normal currently. I went back to my BIOS and changed my vCore from offset mode to Auto, and put my DRAM XMP Profile as it was intended for the RAM to 3200Mhz CL14 @ 1.35v, instead of setting it to 2933Mhz as per Official AMD Frequency. Then I disabled one of my dockers (VPN) that used br0, even though I've changed it to IPVLan since the MacVLan were crashing the entire system. And it finished my Parity Sync without hiccups!!! For some reason, my RAM XMP Profile made it more stable... Now, Pre-clearing my 2nd 16TB Drive! Hi, The Server was running fine for 2 - 3 days online, then I started parity sync yesterday and was about 87% until the server suddenly crashed. pre-crash BIOS settings: CPU: Ryzen 3800X - offset mode - 0.05v RAM: TEAMGROUP-UD4-3200 - 2933Mhz CL14 @1.35v (Recommended settings: 3200Mhz CL14 @1.3v) Typical Current Idle, Global C-State disabled. Curious Question: - Under System Profiler > Memory Device: My RAM Voltage is shown 1.2v for min, max and configured voltage even though I've set the RAM Voltage to 1.35v, and BIOS even shows 1.36 - 1.37v. Is that accurate on Unraid? I have attached my Post crash diagnostics, if you guys can take a look at it. It would be greatly appreciated. kbnomadserver-diagnostics-20220707-2216.zip syslog-192.168.1.2.log

Server randomly goes offline after hours of idle
So Actually, what I'm trying to say is that, the hang/crash only happens when no VM is running, like the server is completely idle. I dont have any freeze/crash issues when a VM is running. someone pointed out on Reddit's Unraid forum that it may be one of the docker(s) using br0 network on 6.10.x which I do have a docker (hide_me_privoxy VPN docker) running. So I may disable that and monitor the server being idle for a day or 2 if that fixes it.

Server randomly goes offline after hours of idle
No I haven't as I've passed through my GPU. I may try that to see if it actually crashed

Server randomly goes offline after hours of idle
I know but is that relevant to the server disconnecting or maybe crashing? I have WD Gold coming as I just recently switched to unraid plan on using the SSD's for cache.

Server randomly goes offline after hours of idle
good question. I rarely play games now, I only play Dota 2 now-a-days. and I wanted to run macOS 12.4 (and Win11) since most of my devices are apple and I edit on FInal Cut Pro X. both 500gb are not m.2 but SATA SSD which are currently in the array. WD Gold HDD is still in transit to be set as parity drive. I have 2 NVME but they're passed through for macOS and win11 vm each.

Server randomly goes offline after hours of idle
I mean the PC is still on, just not accessible anymore, and i've tried pinging the IP address but "Request timeout for icmp_seq 0"; so have to hard reboot when that happens.

Server randomly goes offline after hours of idle
Hi, I've been trying to troubleshoot my unraid server where it randomly goes offline after hours of idle. I usually test it in the morning after leaving it on overnight idle. My specs: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jjVK78 I've already tried disabling C-State, Set PSU to typical current, lowered RAM Frequency to 2933Mhz. Also, memtest option on the unraid flash drive doesn't seem to work, it auto reboots after loading. I've also attached the diagnostics. Anyone have any idea and/or care to help? kbnomadserver-diagnostics-20220630-0903.zip

My Servers Remote Access Secure?
Hi, I have allowed remote access through my servers section. Are they the same with the wireguard tunnel VPN in terms of security or is wireguard VPN the way to go?

Setting up Commercial VPN (Hide.me) app while being able to access NAS and unraid webgui
Hi, I'm very new to unraid and so far I'm loving it. I currently am running 2 VM (win11 & macOS) and have been using a VPN (hide.me) pre unraid. I noticed that I can't connect to the unraid webgui when the VPN is enabled, I have to use the Static IP address to access the unraid server; My shares folder also isn't accessible when the VPN is enabled. Is there a way to go around this, like exclude the LAN connection to my unraid server while keeping the VPN enabled for the internet? Anyone have any idea on this? Thanks
