  1. Unraid 4.7. Array has been up for quite a while. Last time I used it I could copy files from it very fast. I had shut the system down and left it down for a few weeks, now when I need files off it again its very slow. Like 20 minutes to copy 2mb slow. And if I use windows 7 copy it will stop and tell me the file isn't there on the server. Any quick Ideas to help? I need some files off the system very badly. Syslog attached in case its needed. syslog.txt
  2. I copied my iTunes lib to the server while I formatted and when I pulled it down had to fix a number of problems involving extended characters. For example. "Röyksopp" after being copied down was listed as "Röyksopp"
  3. Are they safe with unraid? Mine died in my PC so I purchased a new one. And the RMA'ed on will be in early next week. Is it safe to use in unraid? I know you can't use them in traditional raids. Are any of those models "advanced format" drives?
  4. What options page? I see in the settings Default partition format: But wont changing that cause issues with my normal drives? EDIT: never mind I figured out what you meant. GOOD TO GO!
  5. If was brand new out of the box so does it need that? Also how do I tell what drive it is for the command?
  6. Okay I got my drives arranged properly. Booted the array without parity to ensure it was all correct. It was. Then hooked the parity drive up and booted the array again. It said "Stopped. Upgrading parity." Then realized I had not updated to a version that supported EARS drives properly. So I upgraded and rebooted and it still says "Stopped. Upgrading parity." Is there something I gotta do to clear and format that EARS drive properly or just let it roll on?
  7. Thanks for the info Mr. Hutz. I may not trust your lawyering but you gots good unraid infos.
  8. This gets worse and worse... Apparently I unplugged my drives and the order was labeled on the cables and NOT the drives. STUPID STUPID STUPID. Parity drive is dead so I'm trying to boot without it. I DO know of the 3 drives which one is 3. Its cable is still in. What happens if I reverse drives 1 and 2? Is there an easy way to tell? Can I just swap them back reboot and try again?
  9. Cool beans. So I'll bring it back up with the parity drive and upgrade to the 4.7 then do that. That a safe path?
  10. annnnnd they were out of the drive it seems. Looks like I may have to go with an EARS drive. Its just a jumper thats required for them right?
  11. Sucky. Cause thats what on sale locally. Hrm.... thanks for the info btw edit: Ordered this instead. http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0350052
  12. Okay got my head screwed on straight now. It was the parity drive as it was the first drive plugged into the board. Hopefully this weekend I bring the server back online. If I replace the parity drive with this http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0349903 Is there anything special I have to do to it? Jumper wise. I know there were changes with drives recently.
  13. Obviously I'd be very unhappy if another drive failed. One last question and I have all the info I need to get my couple of files and leave the server alone until payday when I can replace the bad drive. I did NOT label which drive is which so I removed what I THINK is the parity drive. Anyway to tell? I put it in my drive dock in Windows and opened it in the ReiserFS browser...t he YAReG thing and it shows nothing on the drive at all just says drive3part0 Does that mean its the parity drive? Screenshot attached
  14. Yes - the array will run missing any one disk... although performance may be degraded. Also - please please remember that any other disk disasters, and you're looking at real data loss. Understood. The thing is shut down for now but I think I have a couple of important files on it I need to grab real quick then back down it goes until I can afford the replacement drive. I knew it could boot missing a data disk just wasn't sure about the parity disk. If all else fails I guess I can fall back to manually getting data off the disk. I assume thats still possible I remember it being listed as a benefit of the unraid setup.
  15. So I can't afford to replace the drive at the moment and I think my parity drive is dying. 1. Can I start the array without the drive temporarily? Like its an emergency and I need a file off of it. 2. If not how would I put a drive into my computer and read the data off of it. Is it a special format that I'll need software to read in Windows? I assume so.
  16. Doh! I've way to much experience to be making that mistake. :'(
  17. More of a Windows issue but when I goto IE and type in \\tower it just opens the server root in explorer. Any ideas? edit: eh works if i type http:\\tower\ so thats good enough for now. Still kinda strange though.
  18. Purchased for a build that is up an running but its gonna be a LONG while before I need a 8 device controller card. My storage eyes were bigger then my wallet! Card has never been opened or used. Includes everything in the box when I got it. Bracket, Driver CD, and the card still sealed in its static bag. Also included is 2 of the Mini SAS to 4SATA cables. So buy it up, add 8 more drives! Asking $85 paypal Let me know if you are interested. Otherwise it goes to the ebays!
  19. I have a controller card (never used) I want to sale. Can I put it in the deals forum or is that verboten? Figured I'd ask first.
  20. Seems to be a pretty basic SMF setup. Good software.

  22. This cable the right one for the AOC-SASLP-MV8? http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=SF87-SATA5&show=r
  23. You know the part the screw goes into so the card stays put. None of the pictures show it with one. I hope to order mine tomorrow.
