  1. Ok I need some help. I tried a different USB stick and it boots... But will report my findings later its just running a Memtest. But... I took out the old USB stick that wouldn't boot, and now since putting unRAID on it, it has Write Protect on. There is no switch on the USB stick, and I cannot format it or do anything to it. I have also tried the regedit trick in the StorageDevicePolicies but still cannot format this stick. I can access it and see all the unRAID files and even open Readme.txt for instance. How can I wipe this USB key its driving me nuts. I have also tried the HP USB Disk tool and still keeps saying its write protected.
  2. I'm 99% sure it was at least trying to boot from the USB as I did a force boot from bios. But also think there could be an issue with the USB so will try another one when I'm back home later.
  3. Ye nothing yet. Just says "Boot Error" Will continue to play and see if I can get it to boot. Also will try another usb stick. Will report back but out now for the day. FYI this was trying RC16c from late last night. Will try RC16b too.
  4. True I have a USB stick ready to go. Just have to get home now lol
  5. Hey Guys, I have the new Sabertooth Z87 mobo running an i5. I was originally going to get FreeNAS (Which installed fine) but I actually want to test out unRAID before I settle. I just wanted to check if unRAID would support new Haswell architecture and the new Intel NIC I217V? Lastly is there an easy way to install SabNZBD, SickBeard, CouchPotato, Headphone on this unRAID server?
  6. That is exactly what I am talking about mrow! You hit the nail on the head.
  7. This is what I am building and the right PC will be my unRAID server Also I have a Herman Miller Aeron chair myself... So good! Altho I did have to drill the arms off lol. You can see the desk as it is currently: Still a work in progress.
  8. It should look modern so as to not put off potential new buyers... I first looked at UnRaid after it was recommended to me, and then went on to FreeNas and others as UnRaid looks like ****... Yes I know once its setup you will never really need to do anything more with it, but the fact remains its a device/product in your home. Other people have taken the time to make nice skins as it were, with far greater functionality than what comes as stock. If the Dev took the next patch/update and incorporated that into his work it would be so much better and get a higher audience. But the fact remains this whole product is run off 1 guy, who looks like he could use some help. I could be mistaken and if I am, I am sorry. But how long has v5 been in beta!? And how often do you get a patch release? If there were more Devs working on it with a unified vision they could not old get more done and have things sorted. But they could bounce ideas/issues/bugs off each other and get things sorted so much quicker. Rant over
  9. Any update on this thread? And when will 5 be released?! It's been forever!!!
  10. Thats awesome news Hopefully this thread helps better unRAID.
  11. Hey Tom, I really appreciate you taking the time to look at this thread. I hope it helps with the overall product future and it continues on an awesome trend. Quick question, SimpleFeatures is already done, could you not work with the dev and use that as your base with his approval? Saves you having to design something as its already done, and a lot of people are already famaliiar with it. This is just my $0.02
  12. My network is set to DHCP. I can set it up manually if this is better? Altho I have just installed all packages manually now Great work by the way, looks awesome. On another note, you might want to look into the forum post here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25659.0
  13. So I installed the core manually via: installplg simpleFeatures.core.webGUI-1.0.5-noarch-1.plg Rebooted and nope still getting the same: wget: unable to resolve host address 'unraid-simplefeatures.googlecode.com' Will install the rest manually.
  14. Hey Man. Thanks for the reply. What is the webgui plugin? And yes I can confirm that my server has access to the internet, but as you say it may not be connecting quick enough.
  15. What the easiest way to install this? I installed the latest 5vRC11 and copied all the *.plg to /boot/config/plugins But to install I have to go installplg and then each name. Is this correct? As per your instructions it just says Copy the files and it should work. But when I reboot unRAID this message pops up: wget: unable to resolve host address 'unraid-simplefeatures.googlecode.com' This line appears multiple times, just before the login.
  16. I totally agree with you. I was looking at every solution out there including the new Windows Essentials 2012, FreeNas, WHS2011 with FlexRaid and souring the web for different solutions. So dont get me wrong I also have done a lot of research. Yes the functionality of unRAID is awesome, but if it wasn't for Crash pointing and pushing me to unRAID I would have missed out. Also you look at all the other solutions out there, and there are multiple devs working on it. All collaborating together with the same goal in mind. That way the product is being pushed along by multiple people, and product grows because of the shared knowledge.
  17. Thats where you promote some really helpful members that have the best for unRAID to become support. Or you have a dedicated support forum section, which you do and people can post there. Then we can all help newbies out. I wouldn't have got very far if it wasn't for others. Also you can do some really nice easy video tutorials and everyone can benefit. Look at FreeNas for instance they have easy to follow video tutorials. I installed FreeNas and didnt have to ask for any support at all as its all already done and documented. Support solved.
  18. As Crash said. If it wasnt for him I would have totally overlooked unRAID. Ye the functionality is awesome, but that info is hardly on your website. It has no pictures of the product itself, it has no video tutorials. But then again, it looks really dated, there isnt much to show off. As I say, the functionality is awesome, and I totally understand you Tom about getting 5 out the door. But really I think you should think hard about doing the product justice and updating your website design and product GUI. People judge products based on first impressions, and first impressions are the hardest to get over. My missus just said if she looks at a dated website she doesn't even bother looking further. Not that your site is totally dated, but it doesn't hold much relevant information. Sorry Tom, you have a great product, but could do with some design flare
  19. Got it to work. installplg was what I was missing. Looks nice now
  20. Ye but I dont get how to install. Got to the part of wget http://unraid-simplefeatures.googlecode.com/files/SimpleFeatures%20Plugins.zip But dont know how to unzip? Or how can I copy from local machine via Telnet?
  21. Hey man. Can you help a newbie install that simpleFeatures?
  22. Any idea when unRAID will become 64bit, or have a 64bit installer?
