  1. Upgraded to 5.0 i386. Successful upgrade so that's good but when I started the array under normal circumstances it hung up again at the very beginning when attempting to install CP. Just rebooted to 5.0 i386 safe-boot and started the parity check and all is looking good so far. I am also using Influencer's plugins and I agree they were working well under 5.0-rc12a so that's why I don't know why they don't want to play nice under 5 i386? Is there a way to disable the plugins within the webGUI under regular boot so that I can start the array/mount disks and install them again manually via the console? *EDIT-I really like the new webGUI!! 9/2/13 10:25AM
  2. Found the syslinux.cfg file and added it to my USB and rebooted in safe mode. The array is up and preforming a parity check but at least the array is back up. I have included the syslog when rebooted under safe-boot...just still don't know why 5.0-rc16c doesn't want to play nice with starting the array/plugins under normal boot conditions... syslog-2013-09-013.zip
  3. Okay I've rebooted unraid but dan't find and option for a safe boot. I can see start unraid OS normally, unraid with 4GB RAM limited and memtest...sorry but is there a specific command that I launch to initiate safe-boot?
  4. Sorry looks like I inadvertantly attached the syslog from this morning before the upgrade. I have attached what should be the latest syslog. I am sure that I have the 5.0-rc16c since that is what is being displayed on both unmenu and simplefeatures. syslog-2013-09-012.zip
  5. Hi Guys, Thanks for the suggestions. I have upgraded to 5.0-rc16c as per your suggestion and unraid loads and I can bring up Simple Features, but the problem comes in when I start the array...It will start to load in the plugins and seems to be hanging up when trying to install CP. I have tried rebooting the server several times and and everytime I try to start the array I get hung up...HELP! I don't know what to do!! :'( I have attached the syslog and have a screenshot of the console when i start the array and hangs up. syslog-2013-09-01.zip
  6. Hello All, Well everything was going swimmingly until this morning when I got an error in SAB that one of my downloads was aborted because it could not make the final folder... I navigated to my network unsing windows explorer and could see TOWER in my network and could see all my Share Folders but when I tried to go into \\Tower\Movies or \\Tower\TV Series I got a network error stating "Windows cannot access \\Tower\TV Series" I tried to diagnose the problem but all it suggested was that I check the spelling...unfruitful. Tried to navigate to my shares from a Windows 7 termianl, Vista laptop and XP tower but still got the same "Windows cannot access \\Tower\Movies" error I then went into the WEBGUI just to make sure everything was okay. I can get into my simplefeatrues page and unmenu (which is good) but still couldn't get into the shared folders (not so good) When I checked the log it kept repeating the message: tail -n 40 -f /var/log/syslog Aug 27 06:25:36 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Storage Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:36 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/TV Series Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:36 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/appdata Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:36 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/apps Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:39 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Anime Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:39 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Anime Movies Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:39 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Apps Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:39 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Audiobooks Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:39 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Backup Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:39 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Movies Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:39 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Music Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:39 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Pictures Transport endpoint is not connected Aug 27 06:25:39 Tower emhttp: get_filesystem_status: statfs: /mnt/user/Storage Transport endpoint is not connected Currently I'm at a loss of what to do...I shut down the tower before I left for work this morning and am just wondering if anybody could help me figure this out!!! Thanks for reading!! Currently Running: 5.0-rc12a Simple Features, Unmenu, SAB, Sickbeard, Sickbeard Anime, & Couchpotato
  7. Hi there, thank you gshlomi for your input!!! I sent you a PM with this question but might as well add it on the board in case somebody else has the same confusion. I have a question or two before I proceed... (sorry to be a nuisance I just want to get my ducks in a row before I start screwing around with the plugin files ) I went back and checked the thread and think I found the fix which you are referring to... Q: Do i follow these directions and change my webserver.plg or should I edit my "itunesserver.plg" with the suggested replacment text? Sorry if this is a stupid question I just want to make sure I don't screw up the wrong plugin. Thanks!!!
  8. Hi Everybody! I'm still new to getting my unRAID system comfortably set up but am starting to get my head wrapped around things I've got SimpleFeatures 1.0.11 installed on my 5.0-rc12a system build and it looks like that loaded fine; but for the life of me I can't seem to find the "itunesserver" plugin that my system log says that Ive loaded. I can't find it on my settings page: Nor on my utilities page: I think that the system log is installing it but am unsure (hence my status as newb ) Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: ----------------------------------------------------------- Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: success Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: file /var/log/plugins/simpleFeatures.email.notify: successfully wrote INLINE file contents Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: plugin successfully installed Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: installing plugin: simpleFeatures.itunes.server-1.0.11-noarch-1 Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: file /tmp/plugin-prepare: successfully wrote INLINE file contents Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: /bin/bash /tmp/plugin-prepare ... success Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: file /boot/plugins/simpleFeatures/simpleFeatures.itunes.server-1.0.11-i486-1.txz: already exists Apr 4 06:23:41 Tower logger: upgradepkg --install-new /boot/plugins/simpleFeatures/simpleFeatures.itunes.server-1.0.11-i486-1.txz ... 9. Well now I feel like a heel!! Big huge ginormous THANK YOU to S80-UK!!!! You just made my morning!!! This was a big blockade preventing me from moving forward but now I can!! I look forward to be able able to play around with it after work!! This has been a thouroughly fun experience and I look forward to installing some addons and plugins!! Also looking forward to posting pics of this build in the UCD boards
  10. Yes, the regular unraid GUI shows up and works fine with //tower. Pretty sure I followed the instructions precisely, including looking for available updates. I tried to manually start it with cd /boot/unmenu ./uu After entering the commands I am dumped back to the prompt, I'm not sure if there is anything else that should happen at the console but when I go to the client and enter //tower/8080 I still get the blank page :-/
  11. Hi everybody! Happy to be on the forums! I just put together my first server built (was a blast ) and am now going through the growing pains of setting up the system. I've precleared the drives and built the array any am trying to install unmenu... It looks as though I've installed unmenu from the console but when I type in //tower/8080 or //10.0.0.2:8080 into the browser I get a blank page I'm running the latest version of unRAID server Pro 5.0-rc12a with unMENU 1.5 and I've attached my latest system log. If anybody could look over it and offer me any advice I would be extremely grateful!!!Thanks!! system_log.txt
  12. Well its been a couple of weeks and parts have for the most part trickled in. Just been ordering them bit by bit one coupon code at a time The only things I'm waiting for right now are the powerline kit (which seems to be held up in Kansas due to bad weather :'( ) and a cache/app drive that I have yet to order...Though I've been looking at this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147163 Is there anybody using another type that they like/prefer? Is anybody using a dedicated app drive? If so, how do you like it? Can't wait for everything to accumulate so I can take pics and do a build!!!!
  13. Yes, this is indeed the modem that was provided for us http://www.manualslib.com/manual/109537/Navini-Networks-Ripwave-Mx.html#manual and currently the modem is directly wired into the "Internet Input" LAN jack on the router. My plan can be located here: https://wwws.razzolink.com/service-areas-hollister.shtml#biz I have what they refer to as the "Fastest Premier Plus" plan and though to be honest the details are very little forthcoming on their site If I read the above plan correctly it would look something like this: (Sorry for all of the images but I'm more of a visual learner)
  14. Okay... Modem: Navini Networks Ripwave MX Modem Model 2.5-2.6 LMX E Router: Netgear Rangemax Duo Wireless-N Router Model: WMDR3300 Lol on the woman and her M.I.L!! I might do the same thing com Monday!! *sent from iPhone still trying to come up with some new fancy smancy dinner idea...
  15. @Ford Prefect: Currently at work at the moment but will update the make model of the modem and router when I get home. I know that you had asked for it but the mother in law stopped by yesterday and decided to stay until Saturday. Sooo needless to say I was a little preoccupied trying to clean up and make a fancy (fancier than usual anyway) dinner for everybody. I promise I will update the specs as soon as I get home. Literally just set the reminder on my iPhone!! I promise!! ;D
  16. @Ford Prefect: "Since the kitchen router also contains an active AP (and normally a DHCP server) for your home net already, you need to act, since you don't want two APs. Here the scenario from my post http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25765.msg224647#msg224647 comes into play. A) Configure your new AP as a repeater of the existing AP in your kitchen-router, or" This seems to me to be the easiest option and would still accomplish all of my lofty goals: connect server to internet have HTPC access data on server have HTPC access the internet have my iPad/iphone/netbook wirelessly access data on server via the AP (repeater mode?) plugged into the Gigabit switch Okay I think I'm getting an idea of what I want to get: Tower: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129100 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 MOBO/CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1198275 HDD Cage: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817994028 (x2) Parity Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236344 Storage Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236343 (x3) Controller Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816101358 SATA Cable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816116091 USB MOBO Adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200474 USB Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820171586 Powernet Line Units: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009WG6K66?ie=UTF8&tag=etalecouk-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B009WG6K66 Gigabit Switch: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156251 If you guys could look over this and tell me your thoughts it would be really help me out!! [EDIT] Still undecided as to which cache drive to use
  17. True...I could just as easily just igore the powerline AP and like you say...straight 500mbps powerline from router to Gigabit switch and then connect the server, HTPC, and a wifi router to the switch. If I do all this and if I Re-read the stars and tea leaves correctly I would be able to: connect server to internet have HTPC access data on server have HTPC access the internet have my iPad/iphone wirelessly access data on server via the wifi router plugged into the Gigabit switch ....I think...
  18. I've done some light searching but haven't really found a 500Mbps with a second unit that also acts as an AP. Would you have any suggestions?
  19. Okay we're narrowing this down and getting close! I can feel it! If I read your last post correctly it would look something like this: (the red dash is the powerline signal and the solid blue line represents a Cat5e or Cat6 cable) Now I'm looking at this particular switch: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122128 If I read the stars and tea leaves correctly I would be able to: connect server to internet have HTPC access data on server have HTPC access the internet use the Powerline #2 AP and have my iPad wirelessly access data on server thankfully it is a single family home and we're not stuck in a flat with a bunch of other neighbors, that's one ball of string I don't even want to think about untangling!!
  20. Alright I think the ideas are coming together into something cohesive Below is a modified setup showing the data lines from modem/router to server and to HTPC. The red dashes are the powerline signal and the blue solid line is the CAT6 cable. I guess I'm still a little confused as to the order in which things should be plugged in. I think it would go: Modem/Router -> Powerline #1 -> Powerline #2 -> Gigabit Switch -> Server?
  21. Hi guys, heres a pic that hopefully brings a little clarity to some of the layout confusions Sorry if its a little tilted The modem and router are in the kitchen because they have the best line of sight to a tower from which it receives the internet signal. We're a bit out in the country so cable internet is not available and sattellite internet is too slow even when the weather is good. this is me just guessing but I think the house was built in the late 70s or early 80s but again just a guess.
  22. The current router is wireless so my wife can use her NetBook and ipad in the kitchen via wifi. Do you think there should be a gigabit switch thrown in there somewhere to run from the server/switch to the htpc other desktops via cat5 cable?
  23. Ah, now I believe I'm getting it! Thanks Prefect! I'm sure I'd even forget my towel if it weren't for the fine people such as yourself on these boards!!
  24. So I would connect a small unit to the modem/router and plug in the 2nd unit to the wall and connect it to the router so that the server can access the Internet. If I'm reading your post above correctly the data stored on the server would also be able to be accessed via the second unit? Sorry if this seems jumbled I'm typing using my iphone
  25. Hi Thanks for writing! I like the suggestions so far! I initally looked at a rackmount when I first began but was kinda offput by the size of the beast but after cast comparison between a tower and cages or just the rackmount I'm split! I like the idea of the powernet and was looking at this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122502 One question though; If I use the motherboard mentioned above: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1198275 Hypothetically (unless I'm mistaken) I would plug in the cat5 cable from the powernet adapter to the RJ-45 in the motherboard so that the server would be able to access the internet but I have no second RJ-45 port to connect a wifi router to stream the content to my ipad, iphone, etc. Is there a wireless card that would also work?
