  1. Thanks Joe, great script otherwise. I am just seeing random pausing when accessing (either putting or getting) stuff fromt the server. It could very much be another drive I added but I am in the process of clearing this 2TB drive so don't want to do too much testing. It has been running for 24 hours now but is only 49% done on step 2 of 10 so I just extrapolated that to be 2.5 days.
  2. Is there way to "pause" this script once it is going? I am finding that it is taking about 2.5 days to pre-clear a 2TB drive and during daylight hours I would like to use the NAS without that strain that this script is causing on the NAS.
  3. awesome, thanks to both of you.
  4. Hey all, tried searching but apparently I can't search that well. How do I prevent my drives from going to sleep? Thanks!
  5. It was for the Parity Build speed, but to update, it turns out that my Parity drive was DOA and was failing as it was going. I now have a SMART failure report showing the drive as failed and the bad sector count over 450 so I returning my Parity drive. All my other drives have passed the preclear.sh script so should be good. Thanks again for all the help, I am learning a ton by building this box.
  6. Yes I meant 26MB/Sec and thanks for all the feedback.
  7. OK so it turns out I put the jumpers on the wrong pins Now that the jumpers are in the right spot for EARS I am getting 26KB/sec 400% increase, is that about right now? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for the help on this. So I was annoyed and went and put in another motherboard and I am getting the same issue. To answer some questions. Yes I precleared the drives. Yes I ran a SMART log, attached it here Attached is a new syslog No the 7-8 pins weren't jumped, they are now and same issue - 6,347 KB/sec Parity Sync speed New Mobo - ASUS M4A78L-M (Same issue) I am relatively frustrated right now as I was expecting much better results than this. Am I wrong to be expecting faster speeds? smart.txt syslog.txt
  9. so I read the Wiki and I am not seeing if my speeds are normal or not. Here is my setup. 10. sorry about not looking at the wiki, didn't quite realize it existed. Going to review it now and if I need more help will respond here...thanks so much for letting me know about it!
  11. Hello All, So I just built my first unRAID server and I am using 4.5.3 Pro. There are 4 x 2TB drives in it and 3 are data and 1 parity. Pretty basic setup. I am running the server now and the Parity drive is taking FOREVER to complete. It is currently running at 6,607 KB/sec, is that normal? This seems awfully slow to me and transfering files from Win 7 to the server across a GBLan was going at only 4.5MB/sec
