  1. Great success! xfs_repair -v -L /dev/md8 Seems to have fixed the majority of my problems. I can now access all the files that were in my shares. Many thanks gentlemen, John
  2. Thanks, It's my only problematic disk right now and my parity is valid (although it just finished the check yesterday, when this disk was presumably already having errors). Would it be advisable to just re-create the file system on the bad disk and attempt a data rebuild? Or should I save that as a last resort?
  3. I ran xfs_repair on disk 8 and got the following result: I now cannot mount disk 8. I am unfamiliar with any of this and I'm hesitant to proceed without some extra advice. Would the command with the -L option be: xfs_repair -L /dev/md8? What can I expect from here? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5155002/tower-diagnostics-20160702-0938.zip Many thanks John
  4. All, I recently upgraded to Unraid V6. After that I decided to change the file systems on my disks to XFS. It has not gone as smoothly as I'd hoped. During that process, I've had a few data disks fail and they have been replaced. All of my disks and, thankfully all of my data seems intact. However, at one point, I could not access my user shares. They were not visible on the unRaid GUI and I could not access them via windows. I looked at my log and it suggested that I run XFS_Repiar on one of my new disks. I did so and the shares became both visible and accessible again. However, when I access my user shares, only some of the files that should be there are there. For example, some of the folders in "video" are there but not all of the folders and none of the individual files that are not in folders. I can access individual disks that have a "video" folder and all of the files & folders are there, but they are not accesible through my mapped drives. Several of my shares indicate that "some or all of the files are not protected". My scheduled monthly parity check is currently running, but it usually takes about two days. My last log can be found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5155002/tower-diagnostics-20160701-1949.zip Thanks all John
  5. Wow, Rob, many thanks for the assessment. Yes, I became aware of the cache disk issue during the reformatting process. I was planning on addressing that once I was done reformatting, but then these drive issues popped up. I thought that I had the server on a static ip, but I replaced my router around the time that I upgraded to v6. That must have gotten lost during one of these changes. I have a 750W PSU, so I don't think that I'm having power issues, but I haven't done the calculation recently. Thanks for reminding me to do so. During the first data rebuild, I tried to run preclear on the first failed drive (the old Disk 8, sdl, WD20EARS, 416) and it failed, quickly. On my end the data rebuild on disk 8 took many hours and appears to have completed successfully (all the data is there). I had already started the data rebuild on the second failed disk before your response. It has completed and all the data appears to be intact on both the new disk 5 and new disk 8. Despite my bumbling, it looks like all of my data is still intact somehow. However, I do have a new problem. I've lost my user shares. I can see each of their .cfg files on the flash drive, but I cannot access the shares. The web GUI says that there are no User shares. When I attempt to add one back, I get a message that Share "x" was been deleted. I get the same message if I try to add it a second time. So, besides the mover & ip issues mentioned above, all seems to be well except my ability to use/access/recreate my user shares. Any more generous tips? I greatly appreciate your response John
  6. It is linked here in my Dropbox: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5155002/tower-diagnostics-20160626-1702.zip Forum says that it too large to attach. I'm sure that I have rebooted since the first failed drive, I don't think that I have done so since the second one. Much appreciated.
  7. Thanks, Which of the files would you be interested in seeing, or should I just attach the whole zip file?
  8. Recently upgraded my 20 disk 52TB array to v6.1.9 and decided (for whatever reason) to change all of my drives to xfs file system. I had enough free space (one completely empty 6TB drive) so I used variations the following command at the terminal to copy to new disks: Once the copy had completed, I'd make sure that everything had copied, then I would reformat the drive that I had copied from. I did this one at a time for a few of the larger drives, but, eventually had enough free space on a few drives to do three of the smaller drives at a time. Everything seemed to be working perfectly. I completed copying the last three drives, made sure that the data had copied, and then reformatted the last three drives. Once formatting was complete, one of my drives that I had just finished copying data to popped up as red balled. OK, well it's kind of old. I'll just replace it. It's an old 2TB WD Green drive, so I replace it with a shiny new WD Red 6TB drive. Proceed with data rebuild. Data rebuild completes annnnd now there's another red balled drive. The server is about 6 years old. I don't know how old each of the failing drives are but they were disk 5 & 8, so fairly old. WD Green drives. I have a new drive on order to replace the most recently failed one. I suspect the all of the copying, formatting, and data rebuild has just been enough to stress a few of my older drives and convinced them to give up the ghost. However, I'm writing to inquire if there is something obviously wrong with what I've done above that is going to lead to a new disk "automatically" falling out when I replace the newest failed drive, or if you guys just think that it's some old drives dying. The server has seen A LOT more activity over the past 1.5 weeks than it usually does. Many Thanks John
  9. OK, so I'm brand new to unRaid v6 and Docker, please forgive my ignorance. Recently upgraded to Unraid 6.1.9 from version 5. I don't understand how to install pyTivo through Docker. I've pasted lots and lots of URLs into my template repositories window, but I'm never presented with pytivo when I click add container. I've also tried tower:9032, no dice. I'm quite confident that I am doing something basic incorrectly, but all of the instructions that I can find assume a basic knowledge that I don't have. Many thanks to anyone for help John
  10. Sent a PM to bubbaQ, alerting him to the issue. I can do without unRaid Web, but I only recently discovered it and liked it quite a bit. Hopefully, he'll have some thoughts about how to fix it. Thanks again for your help, John
  11. Installed "unraid web" from the unmenu package manager.... 'GLIBCXX_3.4.11' not found (required by sgdisk) Looks like that is the problem....?
  12. Joe, I've re-installed unMenu, and it does not appear to be the problem. However, I subsequently re-installed "Clean Powerdown" and set it to re-install after reboot. "sgdisk" check out just fine after this, but I'm not sure if I should reboot after each new install. I've got the pre-clear running on my old parity disk, so I don't want to reboot right now. Should I wait and reboot after each new add-on install? Or can I install and check without rebooting?
  13. SUCCESS!!! Gentlemen, thank you both very much. I never would have figured that out on my own. I wish I could buy you guys a couple beers... I'll try to work on re-installing my add-ons this weekend and seeing which one was causing the problem.
