  1. I also got this up and running with the Rust version. No change in speeds (still maxing out gen3 hardware). But the big win is it resolved my stability issue. Prior the drive would drop out, and not be accessible till after a reboot. Restarting the service wouldn't work. I've been using this for a week now, abusing it with read/writes. Finally feel confident in using it after trying/testing virtioFS for quite some time in unraid. I'm using intel xeon v2s.
  2. If the thought is it's the memory backing there are 3 ways to do that. default seems to be memfd, but there's file-backed, and hugepage-backed. https://libvirt.org/kbase/virtiofs.html scroll to the bottom to see the 3 types. Might be worth trying the huge pages.
