  1. Quick question. I'm not questioning, but just want to know why? Why choose the linux install over the official Plex install? Thanks.
  2. I'm just wanting to know what to expect, now that I'm ready to start getting Plex all set up. What type of success rate have you had getting all of the data imported to the new Plex in unRAID? What Plex install did you use in unRAID? I don't know if it really makes a difference, but I see so many videos on it, and each chooses a different one for a different reason. What is your reason? I have changed my folder structure in unRAID, so it is different in the PC Plex than the unRAID one. I just went with 3 folders in unRAID. tv, movies, movies4k. Should I change the structure in the PC one before I do the export and import in unRAID?
  3. What port do I need to change to?
  4. That was a question I had. Thanks.
  5. Okay, I got all my folders setup for media at this time. I went fairly simple, but not quite as simple as several suggested. I went with a tv folder with all qualities , so only one folder overall for tv. I went with a movie folder with (movies and movies 4k inside). So my big question is on setting up radarr. Since I have 2 folders inside movies one 1080 and below, and one 4k, I think I will need 2 instances of radarr. I found some info on it, but no videos. Does anyone know the proper way to get this done?Does anyone know which option I would use from the document below? In this guide I will try to explain how you can sync two (or more) Radarr/Sonarr instances with each other.I'm going to show two different options on how you can setup your sync with two Radarr/Sonarr instances. Option 1: This option is best used if you want a 1:1 copy of your Radarr/Sonarr instances as it'll sync everything Option 2: This option is best used if you only want to have a subset of your library Movies/TV Shows as 4K/2160p (UHD) as it filters by quality profile
  6. I have a question on folder creation for tv, & movies. I watched a video on ibracorp's way of making folders to get ready for sonarr, radar etc. Here is the system he has you create. Folder - data--> media --> movies - tv | --> torrents --> movies - tv | --> usenet --> movies - tv I understand many just do it that way, and call it good. I used to do it that way also, before I had a 4K TV and didn't need any 4K. Now, since I have a large 4K library I was wondering if breaking it into 2 folders would be best. Many have told me to just make it with the 2 folders of tv and movies. Since I am just a couple of weeks into studying and learning about unRAID, I really don't know how sonarr, and radarr will work with 2 sets of movies with the same name, but different resolutions. How does anyone on here do that situation with a 4K and 1080 set of the same movie in the same folder? Again, I know some with much more experience than me, and much greater wisdom have said, stay with the 2 folders system, but what if I created the 3rd folder of 4k movies??? How will radarr work with this type of folder system? What will I need to do? Would someone tell me how radarr and unRAID work with 2 movies with the same name, only different resolutions? I'm getting closer to completing my setup, and just want to do it right the first time. Everyone has been so helpful on here I just cant' thank everyone enough. Thanks.
  7. I ended up using the external drive to a computer and did the transfer over the network. I tried the unassigned devices plugin but it was going to be even slower than the previous option. No one, mentioned the Dynamix File Manager, just Krusader. So, I have around 8TB file going right now, and it has been running since 9 last night. It has run 12 hours, and says it has another 16 hours left. It has been averaging around 75-80MB/s. The direct connect was even slower. Well, it is what it is. Thanks.
  8. I have an external drive plugged into my unraid server. How do i get my server to see the usb external drive? Then, how do I get the external drive to download into the unraid server folders for my Plex? Is there a video on this. I can't find one, but I'll keep looking. Thanks.
  9. Well, here I am again. Just asking questions like there is no tomorrow. My question now, is more of a survey in a way, but I'm sure opinions will fly left, and right. The first thing I'm going to do is setup a share when the array is all done. The share will be for my Plex Media folders. I have multiple folders for Plex split up into Movies, 4K Movies, Christmas Movies, Cartoons, TV Shows, Documentary Movies, and Documentary TV Shows. Do I make a share for each one, or just make one share, and put all of the folders in the one share? I hope it is one share, and all the folders go into that share.😁 The other question is about the 3 choices of High-water, Fill-up, and Most free. I study those things, but it just doesn't sink in for me I guess. What do most people use? and Why? What do you recommend? Thanks again.
  10. I rarely give enough info when I ask a question on something. I guess I don't know the info needed, but will add that now. At this point, since I am totally new to unRAID, I am only planning on using it as a Plex server. I will probably use some of the arr stuff along the way, since it seems to be what almost everyone is using, especially if they are running a Plex server. I have a large TV Show accumulation over the years. I have TV shows dating back into the 50's, and up to present day. My movie collection is not as big, but it is filled with movies dating back to the 30's up until 2022. I have collected for a long time, but actually just started using Plex about 3 years ago. If I understand it right, someone said that you can update your movie & TV list to better quality somehow, but I may have misunderstood. I think I even heard that you can even get more movies and shows by using a program with unRAID. I'm not sure if I heard right, but when I read and watch more, I'm sure I'll find out what was meant by that. unRaid seems to be well done, and people tend to help one another out without berating them for asking questions. Thanks for taking the time to give me some good info. Every little bit helps out.
  11. Anyone have a FD Define R5 glass side panel for sale? Or even does anyone have an FD Define R5 case with side glass panel for sale. Thanks.
  12. What is the typical cache size most people are using? How many are you using? What setup are you using? Raid 1 or ? I have an NVME Seagate Firecuda 1TB at this point, but just want to make it right when I get it all setup. This is my first build, and I'm getting it all set and ready to go. Thanks.
  13. Members 10 Posted just now I have an R5 case and an R4 case. The R4 is very similar to the R5 in most instances. I see you used the Silverstone SST-FS303B 2x 5.25 to 3x 3.5 SATA HDD/SSD Hot Swap Cage. It looks like you put that in the 2 upper 5.5 bays. How is that fitting, and how is it working out for you? thanks.
  14. Dashboard? I have not setup unRAID. I am building the server now.
  15. Right now, I have CORSAIR Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300) Memory (Desktop Memory) Model CMU16GX4M2A2666C16 that I'm using in a device I am retiring. I really think I need at least 32GB because of the shared Plex that I do. But, using all 4 channels is not something that is of any benefit from what I read. Running 2 channels of memory is always best, so 2 -16 GB of memory would be what I need if it will help. Unless, you know something different about have all for slots filled.
  16. Is 32GB of memory going to give me much of a benefit? Also, is 3200 or higher going to give me any benefit over 2666 speed memory? ALl of this is for an unRAID server that will mainly be running Plex. Thanks.
  17. And why the hell did you not give me a great answer. I'm very disappointed in you. And you call yourself a moderator. You should be beating with a feather duster and hung out to dry. Oh, and by the way, thanks for the response. I'm going to try my selection and just hope it works well. Have a great day.
  18. The one I showed is all metal. Will that not help for cooling purposes if that is what is causing the issues? For a less then $10 item, I'm spending way too much time deciding.
  19. What about this drive? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C9Q6NM2/?coliid=I2T8MDV986VICR&colid=1KQFQ8GV400GW&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1
  20. Yeah, you are probably right. Any usb flash drive that you recommend? Thanks for getting back to me.
  21. I am just starting to get my gear ready for starting an unRAID server. I have read about multiple failings of peoples usb drives and that has me worried. I have seen where some are suggesting to use a usb card reader instead. What are people's opinions on what really works best? I would like to purchase my usb device asap. Thanks.
