  1. ^^^ Thanks Jonathan... You beat me to it in editing the Title... Good catch veezer... thinking about it now I see that is something I should have made clear before hand...
  2. Thinking about picking up a couple of these for the price... The closest compatible drive I have found of recent was for $110 with a 5 year warranty... Edited the title from One day sale... seems like the email that I had for this "deal" was misleading... ah well it's still live and IMO still a good option What are your thoughts? 3. I ended up getting a 1tb ssd to replace the 512... but I have a few machine around that I can plug this ssd into and run the report on...
  4. Thanks for confirming that... been working around these systems for years... never a HP before... and never setting these up by scratch...
  5. Hello, Having replaced a number of drives in the past, I have never really had issues with this, until today. I have a red balled SSD. I checked the SMART report and nothing was amiss but having another 512gb SSD (which I bought as a pair) I decided to just replace it. Shut down the system Replaced the SSD Powered up the array Took it offline Assigned the new disk Got an error message "The replacement disk must be as big or bigger than the original." I have looked around the forum some and I seen some mentions of using sg_format and sg_sanitize... all of these fail to run on this ssd. hdparm -N /dev/sdn reports max sectors = 1000215216/1000215216, HPA is disabled it's not an issue for me to go and get a 1tb drive to replace it with but it would be nice to use what I already have... Attached is the SMART report for the new ssd and for the tower itself Tks all for looking tower-smart-20220610-0925.zip tower-diagnostics-20220610-1126.zip
  6. So your telling me that https://www.reddit.com/r/unRAID/ has no connection to UNraid? Mods of r/unRAID krackato Forum member since 24Dec2016 (not very active in the forums) spaceinvaderone Forum member since 10Oct2015 (Very active) chaos_a No connection to UNraid found
  7. Understood... but this was under the \unraid thread... I would think that they have some connection to unraid... if that's not the case then it could be harming the unraid brand...
  8. Hello all, Im expanding my setup and was hoping some of you might be able to provide a sanity check on the build below. I just bought a HP Drive Shelf M6720 to provide expanded space First I have LSI SAS 9207-8i HBA that complains that is has too many hdds attached to it(15 in total) I just ordered a LSI SAS 9207-8e to connect to the Drive Shelf vai 3 8088-to-8088 cables. As I understand it I connect each of the controllers to the LSI and then to each other paying special attention to the in0out ports Im thinking that is should work but I have question my sanity of it... Thoughts? Thank You
  9. Recently I posted a question to reddit under the title of 'Sanity Check' and it got removed without comment nor feedback I am having a hard time understanding as to why... and this rubs me the wrong way and leaves a bitter taste... I would like to know as to why it would have been removed... the post was... " Hello all, Im expanding my setup and was hoping some of you might be able to provide a sanity check on the build below. 10. Hello, I have been getting some interesting errors the past few days. It started happening when I was updating my dockers, of the five, one failed and disappeared from the system. I was how ever able to reinstall it, though it did have an error since then I have been able get things back up and running, but the unraid dashboard keeps flashing 'starting services' I have also seen this in my logs 'emhttpd: error: put_config_idx, 598: Read-only file system (30): fopen: /boot/config/shares/' After some googling, it would appear that my usb might be in read only mode... given that it's over 10 years old... a replacement might be in the cards. I made a backup of the usb and did a reboot with the USB in a different slot... still fails... Just to make sure that I am not crazy I have attached my Diags Thoughts? tower-diagnostics-20220512-1238.zip
  11. Thank you for your continued work on this... I too am trying to get HW encoding working... I recently installed your container and while it's not working correctly yet... I will poke around before asking assistance... Thanks, Mat
  12. Hello all... Like many of you I have been trying to get HW transcoding up and running but playback fails with ' [ERR] [104] Jellyfin.Server.Middleware.ExceptionMiddleware: Error processing request: Could not find file '/config/data/transcodes/a415......(long file path would continue on here) ' I can see that the nvidia drivers are loaded inside of the docker... The next thing on my list of things to try is setting up the OpenCL Device... But in trying to find that out in over 6h of videos and posts... I cant narrow that down or even if this is the cause of the problem... I also did read in a post that opencl is going away soon in favor of coda? is that right? OpenCL Device: This is the OpenCL device that is used for tonemapping. The left side of the dot is the platform number, and the right side is the device number on the platform. The default value is 0.0. The ffmpeg application file containing the OpenCL hardware acceleration method is required. Again thank you for any assistance... I didnt want to admit defeat and ask for help...
  13. thought that I would be smart and try to use the CPU graphics card and force the motherboard/OS to use it and free up the GPU... but on boot... and the nvidia plugin has reverted to the device is in use...
  14. I too am having this issue as well... I tried the nvidia-persistenced --persistence-mode and it didnt change a thing... still have yet to get hw transcoding to work... so maybe it's something on my end... +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | NVIDIA-SMI 470.94 Driver Version: 470.94 CUDA Version: 11.4 | |-------------------------------+----------------------+----------------------+ | GPU Name Persistence-M| Bus-Id Disp.A | Volatile Uncorr. 15. I an not an expert... but when your preclear states that it failed on 2.1 tb of data... and this is a 8tb drive... kinda makes me wonder... are you 100% sure you cleared the correct drive? else... I would return the drive... no reason to keep/troubleshoot a drive that is acting funny from the start...
  16. Ended up finding out what the issue was... this video explains it all... https://youtu.be/fnISM_LMuss but in short... these sas drives are designed in a way that when they are receiving power on the 3rd pin the drive understands this as power off... that's why unraid was never able to see the drive... and the drives never spun up like I thought that they were... I just used a small bit of tape to cover that pin(very small bit of tape) and the drives came up... these drives are HGST HUH728080AL4200 3.5" 8TB SAS 12Gb/s 7.2K RPM 128M 0F23651 4Kn ISE Enterprise Hard Drive https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X8Z77W8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 also using the following adapter cable Mini SAS Cable with SATA Power, CableCreation Internal Mini SAS 36 Pin to 4 x 29 Pin Cord with SATA Power, SFF-8087 to SFF-8482 Cable, 3.3 FT https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013G4FEGG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  17. Welp... Just got in the new cables... And those drives are not showing up... So i am lost as to what my next step should be... 2 dead drives new out of the box???
  18. Something like this? BTW thanks for the help... Dealing with sad is a little out of my wheelhouse... Have a feeling that some of my questions must seem very basic to you
  19. im 90% sure that they are spinning up... (not a strong feel that I get from my other drives but still a vibration of it starting) In this Diag... I connected them to a known good serial cable that's also connected to the two 5tb drives... If I can make any sense of the logs... I would expect the drive to be sd 11:0:9:0 I guess the next thing to try is to pull the drives and test them in a different box? tower-diagnostics-20200806-1256.zip
  20. tower-diagnostics-20200806-1243.zip Reran the Diags after checking physical connections. I can feel the drives spinning up... They are connected to the LSI controller on their own serial connection
  21. at the time of the diag report... the SAS drives were connected the the LSI... which would suggest that perhaps I have a connectivity issue... I will recheck the physical connections... on a side note... I am using the following adapters for the drives... chenyang CY SATA Hard Disk Drive Raid Adapter with 15 Pin Power Port 7 Pin + 15 Pin to SFF-8482 SAS 22 Pin Converter
  22. tower-diagnostics-20200806-1220.zip Diags are attached
  23. Hello... I have a little issue that I have... Currently I have 9 SATA drives and 3 SSD SATA drives using LSI SAS2116... I would like to add SAS drives... Problem is that they are not coming up in unraid... I have tried... 2 sas 2 sata on the same serial cable 2 sas on it's own serial cable 2 sas on a completely separate sas controller 3ware 9650SE SATA-II RAID PCIe (rev 01) (untested in unraid) I have not gone into the setting for the controllers as of yet... so my questions are... Is there a setting that I need to change in the controllers to enable SAS drives? can you mix and match SAS SATA on the same contoller?
