  1. What is the current state of this plugin? What I need is a previous version "shadow copy" in Windows for a share. Sheduled once a day for instance. With zfs, this works perfectly. But I want to run a different file system using Unraid. How practical is this plugin? Is it reliable? Lets say I have 5 disks in an array. My plan is to create a share that uses all disks in the array. Will snapshots work in this scenario?
  2. I am playing around with Unraid. Got things working okay. I am coming from Windows and NTFS, which I understand and have a mastery over. I know nothing about linux file systems. I chose to use encrypted xfs for my testing. I want to create shares with limited access to only the accounts I create and assign. This means security - Private SMBTestUser - Read\Write When i check the permissions on the share in file explorer, I see: computername\nobody - Allow - Full Control (This folder only) Unix Group\users - Allow - Full Control (This folder only) Everyone - Allow -Full Control (This folder only) Then when I create a file, that file has: computername\SMBTestUser - Allow - Read\Write (This folder only) Unix Group\users - Allow - Nothing Selected (No deny) Everyone - Allow - Nothing Selected (No deny) Why is it that "Everyone" and "Nobody" each have full control on the share top level folder? Where can I read an explanation of these permissions?
  3. I need to run Unraid as a guest on a type 1 hyper-v install. I am willing to pass through an hba for the disks. But the usb pen drive is an issue. I believe the usb drive has to appear as "offline" which is not possible for removeable disks. is unraid installable on a non-removeable pen drive? is there such a thing? We can use tools (a couple on the internet) that allow to switch a removeable to hdd mode. Will unraid allow this? If the unraid usb drive can be set to non removable, it should be able to offline, then discrete passthrough to scsi and boot from vm. Please lmk if someone has done this
  4. What is the story on this? I plan to run Unraid as a guest in Hyper-v as well? Please do share your findings! Did you ever get it to work?
  5. Yeah i looked through the fourms and found some hints that someone was able to do it. And a demo on how to pass through a usb stick to a vm for hyper v. So it may be sonething i have to try. Second to this, is the same question but using proxmox, which is very popular these days with many redditors and young tech people. In proxmox they say that there is immou limits to passthrough devices without including a group of undesirable devices to pass through. The groupings are too inclusive. I have no idea but I think with hyper-v you can passthrough discrete devices without worrying about the groupings, or maybe they do not apply to windows for some reason. Thats the main problem. I appreciate the responses
  6. hello, I really like everything I read about UNRAID. But I need a simple answer, has anyone been able to successfully virtualize unraid itself? So there is hyper-v type 1 hypervisor and Unraid as a guest? Of course passthrough controller, usb. and disks such that smart data and serial numbers are managed by the vm... Has anyone been able to do this succesfully? I do not plan to use any feature of unraid beyond the disk management
