  1. okay thanks. I'll update. Any idea of why the commands aren't working though for reboot or poweroff? and is there a command to stop array?
  2. What should I do after I boot in safe mode though? The parity check finished no errors last night so that's good.
  3. I'm having an issue with GUI crashing on me. Is started last week, but have had it happen the past two days. I can get into the server through SSH, but command prompt for rebooting and shutting down doesn't seem to work, the server just sits after doing so. Unfortunately, because it won't reboot I have to do a hard reset. I need help trying to figure out why this is happening, and also why the command prompts aren't working. Also, is there a command to stop the array? If I can get that to work that be great, I don't see anything online about it other then people saying they are running a script. I would really appreciate the help as I can't continue to do this everyday. Here is my diagnostics. MyTower-diagnostics-20230227-1001.zip Here are the posts that are similar to my situation. Someone posted earlier today a little similar to mine so I replied to them as well.
  4. I'm having the similar issue to yours so I hope you don't mind me adding to this post, I'm hoping we could both find a resolution. I am also worried that it is developing into what you are facing now. It has been the last two mornings, I have no access to the GUI, but this morning I was encoding some movies with handbrake so while I still had some what of a response. I could still refresh handbrake so I'm still some what responsive in comparison to yours. This morning however I received a 500 Internal Server Error, and while I could SSH into it the reboot /sbin/reboot function is not working for me. Refer to these two posts: After doing so I pinged the ip and was not getting a response. I waited a good 30 minutes , and I had to do a hard reset both days now. However this first occurred for me about 3 or 4 days ago. I've done updates but I did not upgrade. Here is my diagnostics. MyTower-diagnostics-20230227-1001.zip
  5. Hey thanks for this I'll try it out! Raw files are just so huge, wouldn't mind keeping them like that but that's a lot of space to take up. I guess if you have the room that is just fine.
  6. I bought an Asus preflashed off makemkv forum. The LG I flashed myself and they are still working, but like I said it'll stop reading after awhile. I put my ASUS drive back into my server, and it is working again after having it on Windows. All I did was put it in an external case, and swap it out with my LG drive that stopped working on my server. Really peculiar.
  7. I've done that, but unfortunately it didn't work. Like I said this is my third drive within a week or so that this has happened to. I put it on windows and it reads.
  8. Yeah , it was working ripping fine then I put in a blu - ray and it says no disc today. Drive is only a week old. Prior to this I had two Asus drives that did the same thing. I plugged my one Asus in my Windows PC and it worked fine so I at least know that drive is okay, but I have to check the LG on my Windows PC tomorrow morning when I get a chance. I'm thinking it's okay though. Here's my diagnostics I don't know if this would help or not. I'm super puzzled. Myserver -diagnostics-20230215-2259.zip
  9. I'm having issues with MakeMKV not reading blu-rays. I thought it was a drive at first, but I ordered a new one and then that one went within a few days. Turns out I put it on my external drive bay, and it worked on my Windows PC. Both of these were ASUS drives by the way. I swapped out the ASUS with an LG and that has been running fine thus far, but today I decided to add another drive also an LG, but after a few rips that one stopped noticing blu-rays. Does this have anything to do with the latest update? I'm reading that others are having issues like me?
  10. MKVCleaver and subtitle edit is what I found out to use for anyone that stumbles across this, and is having trouble figuring out what to use. There are other options out there, but these are the two that worked for me.
  11. Hey, I've seen a few things online in forum posts, but nothing really specific as far as tutorials, or something consistent as far as what people use for creating subtitle files for their blu ray rips. I'm in the process of ripping my blu ray collection for my plex server, and I'm using makemkv for ripping and handbrake for encoding. The problem is my foreign films after encoding I can't use the subtitles any longer I know because handbrake is stripping them from the encode if I don't mess with any options. Any recommendations on what to use for subtitles. I read that I can use mkvtoolsnix but I don't really understand what to do. I'm guessing rip the subtitles out with that, but what about making them an SRT file so I can upload them on plex?
  12. I usually use chrome, sometimes Firefox, but with a few people mentioning Firefox = bad here I think I'll stick with chrome when I am able to use it.
  13. What else do you intend to do with the computer as far as a server goes? Because you mentioned gaming while your wife works. I don 't know what videos your referring to exactly, but they most likely were running a VM. Which I've seen some people talk about gaming using the unRAID build, but that's not something I personally looked into other then storage for my gaming library that I could access remotely on my gaming PC or my Steamdeck. I wanted to keep my server separate from my gaming PC as I'd rather have the server free for its workload. You'll have to upgrade the cooler going with that processor it only has four heat pipes, I just recently built my server with a Ryzen 7 5800x and the fan I have has 6 pipes [ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CSXS3X4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 ] it's basically a budget version of the noctura or bequiet fan, and I was trying to keep my build at 1500, or my wife would kill me lol. Anyway, the cooler works great so far keeping my cpu at a nice temp, but I would look into what others use as far as cooling goes with that particular processor. Back to the topic at hand, and to answer your second post that you posted while I was typing this up... What else do you want to do with your server? Is it just gaming? because you could do what you just said in your second post to maximize the time with your current build. When I started researching servers I decided to go with unraid because I liked what I saw in its versatility compared to other server OS.
  14. I noticed this a little before going into my build, but wasn't sure if I was getting ahead of myself as I have many times in the past with communities. I asked a question on here the other day, and in one hour I got replies and was pretty happy about that. It made me feel welcome early on, and it seems like a place I'm going to really enjoy. It's very rare I ask for help in tech forums because of poor results in the past, and I feel like embarrassed to even ask a question. Here I felt my question could help anyone in the future who might experience my dilemma.
