  1. chmod -R 777 worked for me. A bit drastic but hey. Kryspy
  2. I was generalizing. I mean why Docker vs apt-get in any environment like say a Ubuntu or insert any other Linux install server name. Kryspy
  3. What are the benefits of using docker vs just plain old apt-get install....... ? If running with just plain old apps without issue what is the benefit? Kryspy
  4. Did you try changing it to write all? Like a chmod -R 777 ? Kryspy
  5. Yeah they were within the last few days. I've changed slots on the Lian-Li case to see if it was a backplane problem; problem persists. Re-formatted, also still persists. Kryspy

I changed the SATA cable. Kryspy
  7. Silverstone.... as in Silverstone PC cases. Very good power supply and small form factor. Not sure where you live. I know in Canada there are a few at Canada Computers that they are clearing out for $99. Thats where I got mine from. Kryspy
  8. Consider the Lian-Li PQ-25 case. Found on sale for $99. Paired with a Silverstone SFX power supply for maybe $10 more than the one you have listed and you are laughing. Kryspy
  9. With constant rumblings about ReisereFS removal from the likes of Ubuntu (although 14.04 has support) how much longer is it a viable FS? With VMs needing to be able to network share with unRAID shares. Is there a path to upgrade to something like BTRFS or such without too much chaos? I assume since there is no non-destructive way to upgrade Re0serFS --> EXT 4 that the same holds true for BTRFS? Just some thought. Kryspy

    Steambox

So, I may opt to build a steambox vs a VM. Any thoughts on an AMD APU based build. I figure a $200 in savings not having to buy a discrete GPU. Kryspy Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  11. Hit it with a hammer and send it to platter heaven. Kryspy
  12. It would be better at this point to just finish the new webui port to V5 and then officially declare it end of life; only receiving security updates. Kryspy Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  13. I know this is easy for me to say because I have always had 64 bit capable hardware running unRAID but; there comes a time when the end of life is end of life. Why should Tom spend time and resources on kicking a dying horse? Utilizing unRAID 5 in its current state isn't all that difficult is it? Yes some plugin developers have flown the coop but editing there plugins with updated package links isn't all that difficult. Kryspy
  14. I use the third one as well. Gotta RTFM the manual of your motherboard to make sure you don't reverse the ground and 5v side I think. Kryspy
  15. Well it was more of throwing $200 at a legacy platform. I sold my old motherboard RAM and CPU and an additional CPU I had to bring the cost down to about $500. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  16. Well after deciding that a memory upgrade for DDR2 was too costly I convinced myself (and my wife) that it was time for a new server Newly Purchased Case: Lian-Li PC Q-25 $99.98 Motherboard: ASUS 87I-PLUS mini-itx $107.99 CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 3.4 Ghz Quad core $239.00 RAM: 16 GB (2x8GB) Kingston Hyper-X Red DDR3 1600 Mhz CL10 $150.88 Power Supply: Silverstone SS-ST45SF SFF power supply $74.99 Total= $760.19 (All prices are Canadian) Existing Parts from old build: Parity: Western Digital 2TB RED WDC_WD20EFRX Data Drive 1: 500 GB Western Digital Green WDC_WD5000AADS Data Drive 2: 1TB Western Digital Green WDC_WD10EARS Data Drive 3: 1TB Western Digital Green WDC_WD10EARX Cache Drive/VM: 64 GB OCZ Vertex 4 OCZ-VERTEX4_OCZ Flash Drive: 8GB SanDisk Cruzer USB I would attach photos but it looks like every other Lian-Li PC Q-25 build Kryspy
  17. garycase, I just built a new server with the PC Q25 and a Silverstone SFX power supply. I orinetated my power supply upside down so the fan side is on the CPU side not the other. Any harm in this? Airflow issues with CPU fan? Kryspy
  18. This happened to me also. I built a new server last week with an i5 and 17 GB of ram with 8 assigned to unRAID and 8gb to a ubuntuvm and haven't had s problem since. In short for me anyways o chalked it up to running out of memory as I only had 4gb shared between the 2. Kryspy Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  19. Yeah I only have apcupsd and btsync running on unRAID now. I could do btsync on Ubuntu but I want to keep it as close to bare metal as possible. Kryspy
  20. unRAID V6 although beta is very stable IMHO. I am running it myself and used the Ubuntu 12.04 guide in the Xen forum. Very easy and solid once setup. I have Plex, Subsonic, Transmission, VNC and CrashPlan all running on the Ubuntu VM without issue. Network passthrough of shares was easy to setup. If you think you want to return to V5 just make a backup of your flash and then you can always revert back to it. Kryspy
