  1. I must be a moron. How do you find the deals like this on NewEgg? I can never seem to find them.
  2. Doesn't the boxee remote have a keyboard on one side? Or I should say the back side?
  3. I have the same system that Rajahal recommended. Its not speedy because I'm running WD green drives, but honestly I only write to it now and then, but most of the time I do read off it for my HTPC and I've had 3 or 4 connections going at the same time and it hasn't skipped a beat yet. (1) 480rip going (2) 720rips going Somebody viewing photos Its super quite and other than a glowing case I forget half the time its even in my office. I have 4 wired connections that can connect to it at any time as well as 4 wireless connections and so far I haven't seen it glitch once all over Gigabit wired and wireless G and N. For me the speed of writing was not the biggest deal. For me lower power, silence and expandability. I wanted a system that would more or less sit there and answer when I asked it to. I didn't want to baby sit a loud power using machine that reminded me hey I'm here.
  4. Wow, thats a fancy remote right there. http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Pronto-TSU9800-Multimedia-infrared/dp/B001N01H8A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1280113546&sr=8-1 I'll stick with my $5 solution for now LOL. However I will agree that is cool as heck.
  5. Yeah in XBMC you can find the key map settings and you can determine how much a skip forward is and how much a skip backwards is.
  6. I completely agree with "Both" of you. In my case the air is of decent temperature and I wanted the air entering the case to stay so it could be used across the components opposed to a negative pressure and rely solely on the rear exhaust to cool everything. I'm sure if my case was full of drives it would be different, but for now I'm completely happy and Right/Wrong/In different Rajahal was spot on piecing my machine together in the Budget build. It works great and you can't even here it when its there or when a drive spins up with those WD Green drives.
  7. Only the newer AsRocks come with remotes and a IR sensor. Mine which is one of the originals did not come with a remote or IR sensor. The newer ones had some issues with Linux because of the drivers, but they have since have been addressed. So basically I made it work. I never really do anything other than turn on the power button to it so I've never taken the time to actually put the Dongle in a nice spot. Eventually when I replace my 37" LCD with a 60-65 I plan on mounting the sensor under the TV because its only natural to point at the TV than down to the left.
  8. Thats why I posted up above my solution. Use the old school Xbox remote and the dongle and a USB to dongle converter. It works perfectly. Once your drivers are installed and the little app that makes it work, it just works. Play Stop Pause FF RW Title Info Back Select arrows. Up,down, left, right Menu Number keys Display Clickable Video of it in action. I'm not a camera man by any means so sorry for the crappy quality. It at least shows how it works. Not shown in the video is the quick response because I had an issue pointing, filming and actually paying attention to what I was doing. LOL
  9. I personally use the old school remote from the Xbox and the dongle. You can do a search on the net for drivers for it. Of course I use in in Linux and it uses the LIRC mod. In windows you would use this. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=38585 I use http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=50348 for my movie fan art I use http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=47071 for my tv show fan art
  10. Yeah the reason I went with the way it was supposed to be installed I noticed that when I only had the lower fan on and running air would enter the case and be sucked right out the back. There wasn't a chance for air to flow in and rise up so the upper fan could pull it out. I'm sure when I throw in my drives or install a few more front fans the upper fan that is pulling air out would either need another top fan to exhaust. Right now my CPU is running 20-21C and my drives average 23-30C. Yeah those budget builds are an awesome guide to building a machine. I knew that I would be limited by the Board and the additional break out cards, but honestly I don't plan on having14+ drives. I think right now I'm good at the 6 drive limit and I'll keep an eye out for a good deal on the break out cards. Since I'm not in a rush or anything.
  11. I like Notepad++ myself.
  12. Yeah, but my request for the bookmark mod is a 5minute mod if even that and honestly its a rather useful tool, but none the less........ Even thou this area is called Forum Feedback.
  13. Before anybody mentions. Yes I did cut the tails off the zip ties after I shot those photos.
  14. Its one of the Recommended Budget builds. I'm really happy with it as of now. Cooler Master 590 Case AMD 2.7ghz BioStar Mobo 2gig ram Corsair 400watt PSU 2TB WD Parity green 1.5TB WD green 1.5TB WD green 500GB WD green 500GB WD green I went with some locking Sata cables from Monoprice.com I decided to use all black for data, blue for cache and red for parity. Not shown in this photo is I removed the Cache drive and went with just all data. I tried to tuck everything and keep it as simple and clean as possible. I used the 3.5 drive mount at the top and brought it down low. I noticed that the temp went from 40degrees to around 30 just by moving it. I'm guessing its feeling the cooler air down low since Im not running additional fans other than what came with the unit. I plan on swaping out the 500's with a single 1.5TB or 2TB

    CPU Stand

I don't recall the brand, but I went to my local hardware store and they had some hard plasic furniture moving carts that are I'd guess 18"x24" with nice full swivle casters on them for 10 bucks.
  16. Yeah when I changed my ip to what I wanted it and clicked the update. I ended up just using http://myiphere and then before you know it http://tower worked just fine. I think I might of had some temporary glitch or network glitch, but it later resolved itself after a few minutes of tinkering.
  17. Yeah. Are you running with a parity drive enabled or are you copying directly to a cache drive?
  18. Why not even this forum has it and I'm sure not many people even know it. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?wap2
  19. Personally I'd like Nagios to monitor my webserver thats not on my machine.
  20. My folder structure is exactly like Paak and I have tons of tv epidodes and XBMC has no problems scraping and running just fine.
  21. Yes you will have to format your drive in order for it to run on the unRAID system. Personally and I do mean personally I would grab a second 1.5TB drive since you said you are running out of space and install your 2TB drive and your new 1.5TB drive together and then copy over your data then when complete add your old drive into the array so you would have future expansion. On NewEgg drives seem to be pretty cheap right now and depending on what you plan on running you could pickup a drive pretty cheap. The only thing I wouldn't want to do if I was you is try and scrape up space here and there and transfer just to transfer back. I'm sure many have done that, but like you said you take the chances of loosing data or corrupting data. As for external drives I've not tried it and can't field that question, but I'm sure somebody will.
  22. woolybully you are not the only one that has been having issues. The host had a slight issue that didn't let any of us view the site.
  23. There are a few settings in SMF that could cause issues. In SMF do you have the box checked to "Use a persistent Connection" which would speed up the forum, but at the sametime would kill the server. and you could turn off Hostname Lookups so it doesn't constantly look for the users hostname Other than that users with Avatars the server is polling that address to display the images, but not knowing exactly what they are complaining about it makes it really difficult to even begin.

    What happened?

Man, two of my favorite sites have been down since yesterday and I was starting to freak.
