Thanks I'll give your suggestion a try soon. I don't like the extra whiring sound from the fans on this barrowed GTX 750. Built a silent server and the little out of balance, bad bearing sound is driving me a little batty. Lol

I didn't try a dummy plug in the HDMI slot and I didn't know about the docker confiig change either.

I have this in my advanced settings under extra parameters. --device=/dev/dri/renderD128

In my Bios I did enable dual video output I think it was in the GPU settings. It just never seemed to work until I dropped in this other video card which I thought was weird.

@kizer why not take advantage of quick sync?

What is the source format that you want to play? If it's not h265 you should be good to go.

Intel Quick Sync, at least for the generation of your CPU, should be fully capable of h264 (AVC):

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video

At least in your case it's worth a try. ;)

Simply install the Intel-GPU-TOP plugin and also if you want the GPU Statistics pluginand you can also see what your iGPU is doing.

Add a Device with '/dev/dri' to your Plex template and enable HW transcoding in the Plex app and you should be good to go, as long as you are transcoding MPEG or h246.

    Hope that also helps.

I tried to use quicksync perviously and I couldn't get it to work. Oddly enough while installing a GTX 750 for some trial and error. I had this in Plex docker setup.

    --device=/dev/dri/renderD128

Now when I tried useing HW transcoding I checked nvidia-smi it didn't show the card working, but in Plex it did show (HW) so apparently quick sync was working.

I wasn't sure if it was installing the Nvidia plugin, clicking on who knows what got it to work. Lol

I'll have to try it again sometime. Currently I have a GTX 750 installed and it has given my CPU a little breather, but it would be nice to get it to work.

For transcoding only, no benefit to buy the the more expensive P620.

I picked up a PNY Quadro P400 for my system for ~$125, works great for my family's PLEX server.

This is what I just found on Ebay.

Could you try something ? try to do a search then do some other search again is it working fine ?

I just remoted into my machine using Chrome Version 90.0.4430.85 (Official Build) (64-bit) and it worked just fine.  Did 4 back to back searches. The below is the last one I searched for.

Is there a possibility your running some adware or something that might be blocking the popup results?

Have you seen this script? I run it once a month on all my media shares and yes I've actually tried to modify my files to no avail.  I even created a few User.Scripts so I can just click a button to launch them as needed. Will it shut down a script? Probably, but a well versed knowing what hes doing person might get around it pretty fast, but I'm not going to make it that easy on them. ;)

    Security.Lock.Media

    #!/bin/bash
    #noParity=true
    #arrayStarted=true
    /mnt/cache/appdata/scripts/no_ransom.sh --lock-files 'yes' --media-shares 'Movies,TV' --include-extensions '*.*' --debug 'yes'

    echo "Sending Notification"
    /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/scripts/notify -e "$(date +%D-%H:%I) Media Locked" -d "$(date +%D-%H:%I) Media Locked" -i "normal"
    echo "."
    echo "."
    echo "done"

Basically the above calls a script that I have sitting on my SSD and I choose to lock Movies and TV share. You would create a script to the exact opposite of --lock-files 'no' to unlock them. I created a script to lock those and unlock those and separate ones to do just TV and just Movies. When its all said and done I get a message from my server telling me it locked or unlocked depending on what I did.

  6. I would just consider everything on your system as possibly impacted. From your drives to your SSD and to your Flash Drive.

Also who knows if anything else on your network could of been targeted or was the source in the first place.

  7. From what I've seen most of the time your paying to unlock your data since that's the fear they throw over your head. Pay or loose access to your data and then they normally throw a clock on it to scare you even more.

  8. I'm seeing lots and lots of these in your system log

I'm still digging around. I don't normally spend a lot of time in the Diagnostic files

    Syslog

  9. Yep for my system I use 192.168.7.x simply because its a little different

I set that up by assigning a Static IP to my Server and in my Router I enabled a reservation for it so it will not hand out the IP of my server to any other device. As well I have a few other devices in my house like my Nest Thermostat and my Neato robot vacuum that for some reason like to fall off the network and reconnect. When they fall off they often had issues reconnecting so I put reservations on them too so they always reconnected with the same IP which seems to fix their bizarre behavior.

Oddly enough the mention of my Nest in the Paragraph above even with my Server set with a Static IP and reserved in my router my Nest some how obtained the same IP as my Server and when I watched a video file off my server I discovered I couldn't connect or control my Nest Thermostat. Took a bit of detective work and found out that my Nest was defaulting to the same IP that I set my Server too when it lost connection. Lol Made no sense to me either, but not any more.

In my advanced settings, I have dazzling_panini as an app. The repository says Unknown. I have no idea what app this is or where it came from. Is it a container that another app installed? How do I get CA Appdata Backup to clear out old apps? I tried to clear them out by deleting the docker image and all apps were still there, but then showed they have a repository as Unknown until I reinstalled them all.

Did you look in your appadata folder for that dazzling_panini on your SSD?

  11. @hugenbdd Thanks for the break down. I thought I had it figured out and you more than covered it.

So it looks like if you cancel the mover cron you could literally build a script and move individual shares using something as simple as User.Scripts if you need custom shares moved more or less frequently vs using this script to blanket move everything which may or may not work for people based on their needs. Personally Mover.Tuner does exactly what I need and thank you for keeping it going.

I know one person asked this very question in another forum topic and now I'm glad I can point them and future people here so they can customize their moves if a need arises.

it's based on days.  I don't think many would use hours.

You could modify age_mover where ctime is created in the "find" string....  Or you could create your own mover command and put it in cron.

    # find "/mnt/cache/share1" -depth -cmin +60 | /usr/local/sbin/move -d 1

Could I trouble you to break that command down just a bit?

    I'm looking at share1 and then I see /move -d 1

I'm assuming share1 is just a place holder and could be anything TV Movies?

  13. I was playing with Plex last night and I decided to sync a few videos to my phone for travel purposes. I Qued up a TV show and I couldn't figure out why my unraid machine was acting so weird. Most of my content is MKV/MP4 and I checked my dash board and my processor is hammered. I mean spiking from 80-88% and I thought what is going on. So I checked the show I qued up for syncing and it was converting them from AVI to MP4 AAC.

I do plan on requiring some of my content in disc format and re-ripping them to a H264 container to get away from the Xvid AVI that I have in some really old content, but in the mean time I'd like to be a bit more proactive in my efforts in the mean time. Plus I think re-ripping my AVI to H264 might really pixelate what I already have so I'm kinda avoiding that for the mean time.

I'm running a I7-4790K and I was just like wow that's crazy since I've never had an issue with it and thought I need to drop another video card back in it. The problem is as we all know crypto coins and covid are making it extremely difficult to come by. I used to have a GTX 1050 TI in my machine, but I donated it to my youngest son so he could have a gaming machine.

I just want something basic that will convert as needed since most of my content is in a format that everything in my house can direct play even my phone which is an iPhone, but apparently syncing converts and wow talk about dragging my processor down.

I'm not looking to stream (4) 4K streams or anything. Maybe (2) 720's now and then. As long as it does as well or better than my i7-4790k its a win/win.

If you install and use this plugin.. do I need to somehow remove the old schedule method unraid uses by default? Or do I just install this and I'm good?

    Install and your good. ;)

The plugin uses the built in scheduler from the old method. So yes you need to make sure you keep the old schedule so the new method plug-in knows how often to run or in this case how often to run/check for whatever settings you have enabled in the mover tuner. The old version is part of the OS so there isn’t a safe method to remove it unless you command prompt in and delete it. Not recommended because this plugin uses the scheduler and allows for returning back to default mover by simply removing the plugin if you choose to later.

For example. I have Plex scheduled to run it’s maintenance at 6am-8am so I have the mover set to check daily at 5:45am. If it moves something it’s often a file or 2 and then it’s a drive or two less than Plex has to spin up. If it moves nothing then Plex does it’s thing anyways.

I used to run weekly Sunday at 12:05am, but now I run daily and let the mover script determine if my files are 15days old or not. I might reduce to 7 days just because, but 15 sounded good. Lol

  15. You could use a Find command in Linux or simply use windows Search against the share like Squid said and when they all show up click delete.

    For find

    https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-unix-how-to-find-and-remove-files/

    Windows Search in File Explorer

    https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-search-in-windows-10

Depending on your level of Linux I would highly encourage the Windows search just to make sure you don't wipe out things that you didn't want to. I honestly use Windows search a lot unless its something I delete often then I have a few find commands in some code, but I've tested it many times on. test folder and some files before I unleash it on my server.
