  1. I only have 16GB and when I check the chunks in the /tmp folder I don't see much more than 4MB at a time anyways.
  2. If you don't want to use your Cache Disk you can copy files directly to disk shares to avoid involving your Cache Drive. ie. Disk1, Disk2 and so forth.
  3. Do you have any machines on your network that might be sharing the same IP as Max? At one time I set a reserve IP on my Nest Thermostat and accidentally set my IP on my server to the same IP and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why every time I was streaming a video I could no longer remote control my Thermostat.
  4. Good luck. You’ll get it licked in no time. Its a pretty cool OS that honestly once you figure out the little HowTo’s you’ll never goto something else. Just remember we are all here to help. Occasionally we give each grief but typically it’s all in good fun. Glad I never mentioned I used to work on Nuclear Missiles when I was on a Sub in the Navy. I’m sure I’d never hear the end of it either.
  5. Personally I’d boot into Safe mode with No plugins and run with no VM’s or anything complicated to make sure your running as basic as a system as possible. Something is tripping up your system and I’m a firm believer of starting from scratch and step by step. Problems I’ve had in the past. Bad Cables, Faulty Power Supply, Faulty MotherBoard and a Bad Drive or 2. Ive never had any browsing issues when I set my unRAID machine to a Static IP browsing with a windows machine. My Mac doesn’t seem to browse as well, but honestly I don’t browse the network on my Mac so I never pursued it. lol
  6. In Addition to what was said before........ Just snap a pic of your drives in the unRAID GUI interface to make sure prior to starting up the array that they are in the same Position and start it up. Its really that easy.
  7. Long ago Pre-Clearing before putting the drive into your system would set a flag telling the system that the drive was cleared and would be brought into the array without keeping the array from coming up. When I say keeping the array from coming up I mean it took a pretty good amount of time. Lol Now with the way unRAID is done the array is down briefly while it formats the drive and does some kind of pesuo pre-clear, but it is no way as good as the pre-clear. Some swear by Pre-clearing to check for errors and some don't. its your Data and from my experience I've had 2 Drives give me issues during the Pre-clear out of 12 so far.
  8. Disk 1 TV/Home Videos Disk 2 TV/Home Videos Disk 3 HD Movies Disk 4 HD Movies Disk 5 HD Movies Disk 6 SD Movies Disk 7 SD Movies Disk 8 MP3', Downloads, ISO's, Dropbox Backup's, E-books, User Personal Folders, Photo Backups SD Movies, because I purposely converted all my Movies to SD for iPads and whatnot to make it way easier to for Ipads and whatever. So whom ever in my house using Plex just points at that Library in Plex and my server just shrugs off the Trans-coding responsibility. Of course now that I have my Xeon online I'm starting to question the need, but no way I'm going to dump years of script writing and converting on a whim. Lol
  9. Honestly and I do mean honestly. SSD is a must for Dockers and Plex. It helps things move very fast and since Plex does a lot of Caching and data seeking it can seriously speed up your experience. You can pickup SSD's for around $80US and they really help. As well like mentioned all of your app data is stored on your SSD and can be backed up.
  10. Take a look at this post. May or May not be related to your issue, but............ https://forums.lime-technology.com/topic/61437-unraid-unresponsive-for-12-hours/
  11. Normally when I use MC I just use the Transfer in the Back Ground command and after the command was issued I kill the screen and check on it later. Of course its so nice to actually see the progress, but often I just compare folder sizes to make sure it all completed.
  12. I found this rather interesting personally. http://www.overclock.net/t/1489684/ssd-interface-comparison-pci-express-vs-sata
  13. Just remember your LSI is going to share its PCI path way with all of your drives vs your SATA ports using their own pathways per port. Mathematically you could figure out what speed each of your SATA connections have vs the speed of your PCI slot, but you'd have to divide the speed of how many drives you have unless your only accessing one drive per time off the LSI card. However Math isn't my strong point. Lol
  14. Personally I just left the Parity On and just took my time. Making sure files made it from Point A to B with Valid parity just encase something happened was more important than speed. I figured it would take days to do all my drives so I just let it take its time. Sure I beat up my Parity drive pretty good, but I planned on swapping it out shorty afterwards anyways.
  15. Easiest way to convert to XFS honestly is to simply copy/move files from one drive to another and when its empty format to XFS. Here is a pretty good Discussion about it when you get time to read up.
  16. Sounds like a Plan. I'll check here later when I do it and might pick your Brain some along with everybody else.
  17. I used this myself. Its been working well for years. https://www.google.com/shopping/product/7472749584759003790# I just ripped out the bracket and only use one connection directly off the Mother Board Then again yours looks pretty simple too.
  18. Oddly enough my Biggest reason for getting this Board was I wanted to get away from the SASLP. I never had a BIG issue with it, but when it glitched it took down 4 of my drives or all of them at the same time and I was reading way to many horror stories. So I figured lets go for the Maximum amount of drives on the board and then shoot for a additional controller card. Might pick up a LSI, but who knows just yet. I do like my CPU runs pretty cool and damn its so speedy. I'd like to look into possibly a Windows VM
  19. Spent some time this weekend and swapped out my Mother Board, Processor, Ram and all the cabling. I dropped in the following: - E3-1225 v3 from a Dell T20 box - AsRock Z87 Extreme 6 - Removed the AOC-SASLP-MV8. I'll eventually pick up a LSI Card, but for now I'm using the 10 on board Sata connections - Dropped in a bunch of 11 inch 6GB Sata Cables, yeah I know I should of gone a little shorter now that its all stuffed in there. Lol - 8 GIG of Non ECC Ram - Some Cheap Video Card I had laying around for Output. I'll eventually switch to On Board, but I don't want to deal with HDMI or DVI at the moment My Reasons for doing this was simple. I wanted to update my Budget box and get a bit more current with the times. The 4Core Athlon was cutting it pretty well and was very stable. I just wanted more Horse Power and thought I was for sure it was on borrowed time. Things do feel much snapper when I'm running Plex and it does Transcode much faster. I'll eventually update my first post and my signature.
  20. Unless you accidentally copied files from one side into a folder on the other side. I've done that before.
  21. With my Green system I've pretty much come to the conclusion that things will be done when things are done.
  22. I'd just pickup a pack of small zip ties and dasiy chain them around the card on the side that doesn't plug into the motherboard. Or Id position a larger fan in the case to blow air across the card to avoid using smaller fans since they have a tendency to be pretty loud. This guy got pretty creative with his fan. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/case-mods-worklog-gallery/67102-emeralds-home-server.html
  23. Doing things over Telnet in my opinion isn't as secure as SSH, but what Squid recommended is the thing to do for your situation.
  24. Not exactly the same, but I've used Bjonness406-convert2mkv in the past and it works pretty well. Not exactly Docker what your looking for, but it does convert files in a folder.
  25. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ For sure the best way
