Thank you! Yes, lots of 4k content.

so the 2gb is good enough vs the 4gb version? I found a 4gb for $95 bucks. We may have at most 4 transcodes going simultaneously. If our parents use it, then it could add a theoretical 5th.

Thank you @ich777 that is very helpful! $100 is a way cheaper solution than $400 for a new board. I'm disappointed that I didn't understand the intricacies of this transcoding issue more. I thought I had really researched everything before I committed to spending nearly $1,000 on this server (including disks).

Would another possibly cheaper option be to purchase a decent dedicated GPU and pass transcoding to it? If that's the case, then I don't have to replace my motherboard. Could you share some thoughts on that thought?

Seems like I'm screwed. QuickSync isn't supported by my board's chipset (CH242) :< This makes no sense to me at all though. How is it possible I am transcoding 4k video and audio on this ASPEED chip vs the Intel 2126g? It seems like the ASPEED chip would toast out? What I observe in unRAID is that whenever transcoding happens, the CPU starts to move big time. So, is it actually working but the values can't be passed into your tool? Should I upgrade my board to a higher than SuperMicro X11? https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/need-quick-sync.24653/

Howdy, I installed the intel top gpu plugin. However, I'm not certain it's actually working. When I type in the command intel_gpu_top, I get the following back: intel_gpu_top > No device filter specified and no discrete/integrated i915 devices found. Also, when I use the GPU Statistics plugin, it never seems to recognize the Intel iGPU or produce any data. I have an Intel Xeon 2126g running on a SuperMicro X11SCL-F board. Any ideas how I could troubleshoot?

User share showing incorrect disk size
Interesting. I must have accidentally allocated disk4 to the user share (datum) at some point before I got my final configuration in and forgot to remove the allocation when I switched. Now my datum share is on a different disk, which is set as cache:only in its own pool. So, this is okay/safe? The disk basically just operates as a standalone pool with no protection, which is fine in my case.

User share showing incorrect disk size
So just by the circumstance that I accidentally created a folder called "datum" in disk4 and I have a share named datum on a cache disk, it thought -- "hmm must be the same; therefore, 2x the size"?
-
User share showing incorrect disk size
Can you help me understand that better? Did it show the drive size being larger because 'datum' showed up on disk4 and also on seedbox?
-
User share showing incorrect disk size
To add further curiosity - it seems like under the shares, if I calculate them, then it shows disk 4 (8TiB) is allocated to this share as well. This might explain how I got to 16TiB but I have no idea why. And, you can see that when navigating into disk4, it shows a folder called 'datum'. But it's empty.

User share showing incorrect disk size
Hello, I have a user share called 'datum'. That user share is using a cache-only disk (8TiB). I'm using this disk/share to host torrents that perpetually download and seed. The cache summary card on Dashboard correctly shows the size of the cache disk as 8TiB. Main tab shows the size of the cache disk correctly. Under the Shares tab, it shows the size of the disk as being 16TiB. How is this possible? The share is set to use cache-only and it is not set to use any of the disks1-5 in my array. https://imgur.com/a/KxeGH9V

Removed a data disk but didn't reset array configuration
Cool. Then once the extended SMART stops on this new (larger) Parity1 disk, I'll drop it into the P1 slot, pull the old data disk out of the array while I figure out what I want to do with it and then start up the array and let parity re-build on the new (larger) P1 disk. Thank you!

Removed a data disk but didn't reset array configuration
So I should be cool to stop the parity-sync, remove the current P1, insert the new P1 (larger) and just start the array up and re-build parity from scratch?

Removed a data disk but didn't reset array configuration
Howdy, I stopped my array and removed a data disk (had no critical data on it as far as I can tell) with the intention of moving it to Unassigned Devices as a standby/hotswap. I forgot to do the "reset array configuration" and went ahead and started the array back up. unRAID warned me that things were sketchy because a data disk was gone. I got a little spooked so I turned the array off, put the data disk back in its slot and turned the array back on. Now unRAID wants to do a parity sync. Ugh! The catch is that, I have a newer parity disk that I wanted to install. Can I safely stop the parity sync, stop the array, remove that data disk from the array and reset array configuration (preserve current settings). And then pull my Parity 1 disk and replace it with the new larger Paris 1 disk. Format the data disk I pulled and put it back in its old slot? And then, Restart the array and do a parity re-build over the modified configuration? Or should I let the parity re-sync and go through the procedure to remove a disk and reset array configuration *cleanly*?

[Support] binhex - HexChat
Is it possible to route the traffic of this IRC client through a Docker/VPN? I tried passing it my customer network/VPN after adding a modified port (6082, b/c 6080 was occupied by Krusader), but it won't connect locally. It is getting its IP from the Docker/VPN though, so that is working. Just cannot connect locally @ 192.168.1.x:6082.

Cannot install Docker images
Now all of a sudden it works when I go into Docker > Add Container and select from one of the templates in the drop down. Makes no sense at all.

Cannot install Docker images
Howdy, I'm new to unRAID and the core features have been running fine for me. I have Krusader and Plex working just fine and even testing Prowlarr and nordlynx dockers. They all seem to be working fine. For some reason though, I can no longer install any docker images. I've tried qbittorrent, binhex-qbittorrent, gluetun, tautulli and a few others. The installation process appears to start but inevitably I get the same error, that the local image cannot be found (i.e., it is never downloaded from docker hub) and therefore the install fails. I've tried at different times of day. I've tried on and off VPN. I've rebooted server. I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do next. Hoping you can offer some advice.

Switching from Pro to Unlimited
I recently purchased unRAID 12 device license. I’m still in the first 30 days but I think I’d like to switch to the unlimited license. How can I do this? I emailed support but it’s been almost a week and no reply. thanks

Hello! My first go at unRAID! Excited!
Hey there! I'm just now coming to unRAID after 'graduating' from Synology. Really liking what I see so far and excited to get my first self-built NAS off the ground over the next week or so. All of the hardware is acquired or coming. I just need to flash unRAID trial on a nano USB, build the beast and get to configuring. What I've seen so far in terms of support is fantastic. It's one of the reasons I've decided to go with unRAID over TrueNAS. On top of that, the documentation has been superior. I have found a few broken links. Where should I submit them? See you in the forums! Z
