SMB permission share change on Unassigned Devices after 2 previous updates
Hello all, I have an NVME SMB share on unRaid that I use for my cloud, record CS2 games and whatever else I need it for. After the previous 2 updates I could NOT get the share to work, kept giving me an error that I didn't have permissions. Fixing it the first time took hours, I went under main>unassigned devices section>unassigned devices settings>and under SMB settings it was changed to 'no access' under my smb share info. Changing that back to read/write fixed the problem. Just FYI if anyone suddenly has no access to their SMB shares using unassigned devices plug in. Did NOT effect the array, just UDs

Hello again! Good news, it was a permission thing! The 'source' directory '/' was set to read only. So anything under /mnt/sourcefiles was read only, that includes basically all directories that are both source and destination folders in the array. Setting it to read/write slave caused it to fail on re-initialization, but setting it to read/write allowed a sync to happen. I remoted in to give it a try real quick, everything appears ok now, thanks for all your help, what a PITA!!!!

Hello! 99 for UID -- 100 on GID for DSP and the exact same for LuckyBackup

I can't seem to browse to my unassigned SSD to set as my source drive -- in DSP, I simply browsed to /mnt/sourcefiles/mnt/disks/uniqueidnumberhere1234/CS2Streams -- any ideas?

I just noticed using the file browser in unraid that the 'remotes' permissions for the smb shares are set to nobody EDIT: copied folder back n forth, to and from shares using Krusader

Sure, I think that was one of the first things I tried. I even created a new 'test job' to back up my CS2 game streams and I get the same error. In fact, I get that same error no matter which job I try to sync.

I have not, I've done that with other containers when the 'fix common problems' plugin would flag it. Not sure how to do it with DSP. The shares are SMB shares 'mounted' using the UD plugin, then I created jobs to backup files/folders from 1 drive to other drives across my network

I just created a new test job, browsed each folder path thru the window in dsp and when I went to run it, got that same error, these paths have worked for a year, I have different jobs for different disks, and I like to record and backup my CS2 sessions.

Everything appears like it should, but there are warnings under the 'messages' tab in dirsyncpro, destination file can not be overwritten/created. I never had to do the r/w slave config for dirsyncpro. EDIT: the problem appears to be with the paths of the folders in the jobs I created.

No errors in logs One suspect line in logs tho: Local mounting is selected, please mount your local path to the container---

Thanks for your reply, I'll look into that later when I get home from work EDIT: tapped into PC at home, and near as I can tell SMB seems to work fine, shares show up, can browse all my shares, and my shares appear under the SMB shares and I can browse them thru unraid under the file manager tab, I'm at a loss lol

Hello, I just upgraded to unraid 7 and the dirsyncpro doesn't copy my SMB shares from my main PC out on my various network disks. It will analyze them, but when I hit the sync button nothing happens.

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
That is weird, I have never heard that before, and I don't doubt you but I've always done it this way with no problems, this VM is a backup of a backup of a backup so data loss is no big deal, I might even borrow the drive and put it in my TrueNAS backup server. Thanks again!!!

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
Thanks for your quick reply, unmounted the disk in UA, detached it, reattched it, left it unmounted and now unraid wont complete the SMB share, saying to look at syslog. Gonna fiddle around with it more EDIT: a quick reboot fixed it and I have it back to the way it was -- thanks again!

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
Hello folks, got some strange behaviors with an unassigned disk that is passed thru to an OMV VM as a backup disk on my unraid. The cheap hitachi 4 tbb disk appears in the UA section, I successfully passed it thru using /dev/disk/by-id/ata-Hitachi_xxxxxxx in the OMV VM 2nd vdisk location section, then I created an SMB Share which works, both are mounted, but the hitachi disk appears empty when I use the file manager. The hitachi disk and the OMV/OMV Share are supposed to be the same disk. When I'd click the clickable links before it would open a window showing me both folders exactly the same. I deleted the old OMV VM to make a new, updated one and while that was happening I installed the new UA plugin. This is driving me nuts! I spent 7 hours fiddling around with this, and just gave up. Any help is appreciated.

***GUIDE*** Plex Hardware Acceleration using Intel Quick Sync
Just wanted to say thanks, this thread saved me 200 bucks. I almost bought an Nvidia GPU for plex transcoding but it's not needed cuz my Intel CPU has quicksync, followed the instructions and it works perfectly!

Very Long Parity Checks 7+ Hrs... Considering ZFS Migration
The time sounds about normal, try to avoid having a crash or an unclean shutdown. I have 3) Seagate Ironwolf 8TB and my weekly parity check takes 9-10 hours

UnRaid does not use entire Ram (64gb, uses only 31)
Looks to me like there's only 32 gig installed. That part of the dashboard confused me at first, I started off with 2) 16 gig sticks of ram and later added 2) 32 gig sticks for a grand total of 96 gig of DDR4 3200 (usable size 93.1), my maximum size is 128 gigs....out of 93.1 gigs I'm using 27.1 gigs with quite a bit left over.

Copy data
Hello, I'm not a forum guru, I like to tinker and I used to use a windows machine to copy things over but now I use binhex-Krusader....it'll give you copy speeds and let ya pause if need be. EDIT: Link for SpaceInvaderOnes video on how to move data

Silly question about ClouflareTunnels
Hello everyone, I recently ditched Comcast/Xfinity internet, went with a local company that provides Fiber 250 down/250 up, and when I was screwing around with my router and PIA VPN I noticed that PIA is much much slower then my naked internet connection, like 1/10 the speed. I have a cloudflare tunnel on latest unraid running various docker containers, like Plex, CF Tunnel, Firefox, CS2 server, Nextcloud, Guacamole, qBitTorrent, Netdata, Krusader etc...My question is, does ALL the internet traffic go thru the CF tunnel? So in reality, I don't really need a VPN anymore? I'm thinking of using wireguard and running ALL my traffic thru wireguard on the unraid server...one benefit is I'll have ads blocked on my iphone using my bare metal PiHole. Thoughts are appreciated. I'm kinda a newb, I know just enough to be DANGEROUS LOL...

Thank you so much, my unraid/docker container was set to basic, the setting appeared when I slid the tab to advanced. I feel so dumb!
