  1. @JorgeB Update, tried the 2nd disk that I bought, no issues, preclearing now, have started the warranty return
  2. Thanks, I bought 2 of them, will give the other one a go and see what happens
  3. Hi, Trying to install a new 14TB Gold disk, getting a AHCI(port 3) device error, anyone had this before? See pic, is there something I need to enable? I'm replacing Parity 1(6TB) with this bigger one, no drama with booting etc if I put this one back in, so don't think it's cable related Regards Mitch d
  4. Hello, Have been reading through the 'how to' pages and am just wanting to confirm the steps to replace a failed drive, and also add 2 much larger parity drives. I currently have dual 6TB parity drives, 1 failed 2TB drive, I have bought 2 x 14TB drives to replace the 6TB parity drives, which I will then use to replace not only the failed drive but 3 x 2TB and 1 x 1TB drive that are still running on reiserfs. I have been able to remove all of the data from the failed drive onto another 6Tb data drive, and run a parity check with no errors. 1: should I remove the failed drive, add 1 of the 14TB in it's place, pre-clear it, remove that, pre-clear the second 14TB drive in that spot, then do a parity swap procedure? Or, 2: Pull parity 1, add one of the 14TB disks, pre-clear that, then let parity rebuild if it passes the pre-clear, then do the same for parity 2 with the second 14Tb disk, then pre-clear the 'old' 6TB parity disks before adding them to the array? I'm thinking 2? Cheers Mitch
  5. Went with 2 x 14TB, will get those into the system then order another one, thanks for the advice
  6. Eventually yes, as I want to reduce the number of drives in the system, down to say 6 total, 2 parity, 4 data, will go the 12TB or the 14/16Tb the only real difference between them, besides the price, is the Cache, 256MB on the 12TB and 512MB on the 14/16TB, not sure that would make a difference on my system? Why do you ask?
  7. https://www.mwave.com.au/product/wd-wd161kryz-16tb-gold-35-sata-6gbs-512e-enterprise-hard-drive-ac46638 This might be the safer bet....16-18TB are all around the same here in Aus, AUD$550 to just over $600, haven't kept up with HDD tech so thanks for the heads up re the MG09, have pretty much always used WD anyway
  8. Just had a drive fail so looking to upgrade my 2 6TB parity drives(WDC_WD60EZRZ) with bigger capacity ones, then move the 6TB parity drives into the array which can replace 5 older 2TB drives(formatted as reiserfs, yep they have been running a while). Can get the Toshiba 18TB MG09 for approx AUD$610 Seagate 16TB Exos is the same price, leaning towards the Toshiba Thoughts? Regards Mitch
  9. Righto, thanks, it's not real clear on that
  10. Ok, once I read the first post properly(its like a test really isn't it....read the friggin question!), anyway, it's installed and seems to be running fine, only it hasn't asked me to set a root password and all my shares are exported, yet according to the bottom paragraph from the first post, thats not what should happen.
  11. I'm on 6.2.2, when I 'check for updates' on the plugins page no update is available for unRaid OS, what am I doing wrong?(besides not updating earlier🤔)
  12. A win, both Parity disks back online, Parity is valid, I'm no expert, obviuosly, doesn't look to be any ATA errors and such, thanks for everyones help. I'm going to put it down to and older PS/cables, have replaced both. tower-diagnostics-20210826-1826.zip
  13. Success on parity 2 and disk2 with rebuild/sync, see attached diag, still a red X on disk1 so have done the following Stop array Unassign disabled disk Start array so the missing disk is registered Stop array Reassign disabled disk Start array to begin rebuild. If you start the array in Maintenance mode you will need to press the Sync button to start the rebuild. and no errors yet, fingers crossed tower-diagnostics-20210825-1121.zip
  14. Thanks for that, I can get the Ultrastar 8TB DC HC320(0B36404) for a not bad price, thoughts? https://documents.westerndigital.com/content/dam/doc-library/en_us/assets/public/western-digital/collateral/tech-brief/tech-brief-western-digital-power-disable-pin.pdf
