Parity Disk Errors
Hi all, In the device list, the parity disk has 2048 errors but the SMART extended self-test doesn't detect any error. Is it recommended to replace the disk? I attached the diags file Thanks in advance and happy new year! jedi-world-diagnostics-20260106-1901.zip

Pre-Clear Post-Write error
Hi all, I recently got a new HDD and ran a pre-clear process on it. However, during the post-write test, it stopped and threw an error. Has anyone encountered this before? Could it be a hardware issue with the drive? Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated! I've attached the pre-clear log and diagnostic Thanks in advance, preclear_disk_WD-WCC4J0FLCL6S_22762.txt sw-diagnostics-20250105-1610.zip

Low power system (MB+CPU or used server) with 6-8 SATA - recommendations?
I'm using the ASRock J5040-ITX with an embedded CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 6 drives. Since the motherboard has only 4 SATA ports, I added a PCI Express x1 SATA controller card (picked it up on Amazon) to gain an extra 4 ports. I'm really happy with this setup. It's incredibly stable—only restarts are for Unraid updates. It's also silent, energy-efficient, and the CPU paired with 8GB of RAM easily handles multiple containers like ddclient, Nextcloud, nginx, MySQL, and AdGuard. Even with all these running, memory usage is only around 20%. Hope this helps

Emulated Mode, next steps
Hi All, One of my disk is in emulated mode and i don't understand why: The bios detects the disc, the smart extended test didn't return errors and the xfs repair didn't identified anything. I tried to find the error in diagnostic files but it is to advanced for me. The disk is recent, so i would like to understand if the problem is in the disk before replacing it with a new one. Can someone help me? I'v attached the diagnostics file and the smart test reports. Thanks in advance sw-smart-20241227-1425.zip sw-diagnostics-20241227-1207.zip

Cache and Raid reconfiguration
Yes... I have data in the disk1 that want to keep and the cache is xfs.

Cache and Raid reconfiguration
Sorry... i have 3 hdd and 1 ssd in the raid. The parity disc is hdd. The goal is to move ssd to pool cache and add a new hdd in slot 1

Cache and Raid reconfiguration
Hello everyone, I currently have two SSDs: one is configured in RAID, and the other is set up as a cache. I’d like to repurpose the SSD from the RAID to use it as a cache for creating a cache pool, and then add an HDD to the now-free RAID slot. What is the recommended procedure to achieve this configuration? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Recomended Appdata Cache configuration
And the best configuration for appdata is Array->Cache or Cache->Array?

Recomended Appdata Cache configuration
Hi all, I'm a long time unraid user but i'm using a cache drive for the first time and i'm not sure if i'm using the recomended configuration for appdata because i'm getting the warning "some or all file unprotected": I just have 1 one cache drive and previously the appdata was in the array. This is the reason for the warning? The system share as a warning also and it is set with array->cache option. Is the same case? Thanks in advance.

Replace Dead Disk
Hi all! One of my data hdd have died and i just have a sdd with the same size. I know that i cannot use the sdd to replace the failure disk and i'm worry to have the array without protection (i'm waiting for the new drive). There are any temporary scenario that i can use the sdd to give protection to array? All my disk have the same size as the sdd, so replacing one of them it's not an option. My array has 3 data disks and 1 parity disk (no cache drives) Thanks in advance

/mnt/user original file location
Thanks for your support

/mnt/user original file location
Ok... but if a file is duplicated in 2 different disks with the same name and location, how does unraid deal with this case?
-
/mnt/user original file location
Hi all! After some catastrophic failures in my server i'm on a stage that i have two apptdata directory in different disks (disk 1 and 2). How do know if /mnt/user/appdata is pointing to disk1 or disk 2? Thanks in advance.

Replacing Parity Disk Same size: Disk in parity slot is not biggest
Hi All, I'm trying to replace an old HDD parity disk with a brand new SDD with same size but i'm getting the famous error "parity disk is not the biggest" The fdisk confirms that the new disk (sdb) as the same size as the data disks. And the HPA is disabled I've checked several posts with the same error but i didn't find any solution for my case. The diagnostics file is attached Thanks in advance. sw-diagnostics-20231125-2009.zip
