  1. I recently decided I was done with Windows and their force-feeding of AI into eveything and after a couple weeks of dual booting with CachyOS to make sure I would be fine with it as a daily driver, I switched over to it completely. Right now, accessing my Unraid box works fine, but since I'm done with Windows, I'm wondering if it's worth it to switch over to NFS? In my searches I get some answers that really don't give a clear direction to go in so I'm hoping to get more of a consensus. Some people say the difference is minimal, some say it's a hassle to get it configured properly, some say it's the way to go with a Linux setup. Right now, my Unraid box is primarily a Plex machine so I'm typically dealing with files of at leas a few GB. I do also use it for file storage and a thinking I should also set up Seafile on it to ditch OneDrive and maybe Immich as well. Also, while I'm not a complete Linux noob (I've tried several distros in the past: OpenSuse, Gentoo, Ubuntu) and am somewhat comfortable using the terminal with a guide, I'm really only a few steps away from being one.
  2. Ack! Figured I was forgetting something. Diagnostics are attached. I did try this. While it cleared off the media from the Cache, when i downloaded something else then moved it with Krusader, it still shows as being on the Cache when looking at the Cache under Pool Devices. plexbox-diagnostics-20250814-1038.zip
  3. I've run into an issue that I'm completely stumped as to how I would go about fixing it. I recently installed both binhex-qbittorrentvpn and binhex-sabnzbdvpn by the AlienTech42 videos. On that end of things, everything works perfectly. Where I am having an issue is when it comes to dealing with the downloaded files. My workflow is typically this: Download media Rename files accordingly Manually move from Downloads folder to the appropriate folder on the array (I use folders for each main genre of media in Plex as I hate needing to use the search function. Yes, I know it's the "wrong way" of doing it. No, I have no plans to ever change it.) What's happening though is that in Krusader, it appears that when I choose to move a file, it gets moved to say, /data/media/movies/horror. I can see that file in that location in Krusader. But apparently it doesn't. It stays on the Cache, but now in a folder structure of cache/data/media/movies/horror. Now on the surface, this isn't a big deal as at least the media is perfectly accessible in Plex. But the Cache does start to get filled with files that really don't need to be there. I think that the solution would be Mover, but I must have something not configured right because it does nothing automatically and also does nothing and actually ends instantaneously if I start it manually. So either I have something misconfigured or I'm not fully understanding how files are dealt with between Cache and the Array, which I'm honestly not ruling out. This is on 7.14. I've attached a group of screenshots, but can obviously add any other info that's needed.
  4. Perfect! Thank you so much!
  5. Solved! Solution just below by ConnerVT Suddenly today I have multiple files not able to be played, some played for a bit then stalled, while others won't even start. These files play fine when using my Nvidia Shield that is hardwired, but when trying to play them on my phone or tablet via wifi as well as on my Windows desktop (through Firefox, hardwired), the files will stall or not even open. I did notice that there was an update for the linuxserver plex docker, but even after updating the issue persists. Running Unraid 7.0.1 and just updated Plex to the latest version available. Edit: Been poking around, trying to find a possible solution and when checking the plex docker, I get multiple lines of: Jobs: Exec of /config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Codecs/EasyAudioEncoder-8f4ca5ead7783c54a4930420-linux-x86_64/EasyAudioEncoder/EasyAudioEncoder failed. (13) Jobs: Exec of /config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Codecs/EasyAudioEncoder-8f4ca5ead7783c54a4930420-linux-x86_64/EasyAudioEncoder/EasyAudioEncoder failed. (13) Jobs: Exec of /config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Codecs/EasyAudioEncoder-8f4ca5ead7783c54a4930420-linux-x86_64/EasyAudioEncoder/EasyAudioEncoder failed. (13) Now trying to figure out how to correct this.
  6. That's what I figured. Thankfully the drive is still under warranty so at least there's that. Now for a probably stupid question as this is my first drive failure. When I pull the drive to RMA it (can't really go grab another drive to use in the meantime), can the server still be up? It's primarily a Plex server with some file storage.
  7. I just got a little over a dozen warnings from my server from "current pending sector is 16" and then "offline uncorrectable is 9" to 400 / 50. Doing a SMART extended self-test comes back with: Completed: read failure. Edit: When I look at the Identity tab for the drive, it does say SMART overall-health: Passed. I guess that drive is on its way out? Any way I can limp along for now until I can get a new drive? I do have two parity drives in the system at the moment. plexbox-smart-20250428-2053.zip
  8. For the better part of a year, I've had the same hardware setup. My Windows 11 desktop is in my home office connected via ethernet. My unraid server (6.12.10) is in our pantry connected via ethernet. The unraid server has no VPN running on it as I do any downloading with my desktop and transfer the files over to the server. I use Surfshark on my desktop when downloading and up until recently, I've had no issues transferring files whether or not the VPN was turned on. But for at least a few weeks, if the VPN is on, I can't connect to the unraid server at all. I have the server mapped as a network drive and use TeraCopy as my file manager. I've tried putting the server's ip in the Bypass section of the VPN, but no luck. I do assume that this is an issue within Windows and not specific to unraid, but I'm hoping someone else has run into this issue and has a fix. Edit: Just in case someone else runs into this I found a solution. With a bunch of hunting around I found a post saying to use the IP address instead of the server's name when mapping the network drive in Windows. All seems to be working fine now. Still unsure what exactly changed, probably something with Surfshark/Wireguard, but at least it works properly again.
  9. So this is kinda weird. It's all back to normal? I did do the rather rash thing of doing a hard reboot on the server shortly after posting. Even after waiting for at least a half hour, I still couldn't access the webui, but after a little while longer, everything was back to normal. The system did go through a parity check and thankfully no errors. Everything seems fine now, but it's still obviously concerning that I lost access to the webui suddenly. plexbox-diagnostics-20240310-2225.zip
  10. So apparently out of nowhere today my server became inaccessible through the webui, the Array Android app, or through the network location in Windows 11 Explorer. But the weird thing is that Plex is fine? I have no issues watching anything. I do have notifications enabled and nothing was sent prior to this happening. As I'm a Linux noob, what would be the first steps to figuring this out?
  11. I finally moved my plex (latest linuxserver docker) setup to a proper unraid server (6.12.6) and have been very, very happy with it so far. One issue I do have is that users can't download from the server even though they are allowed within the plex settings. In my googling I've found this post; But it's from 3 years ago and since I'm relatively new to linux/unraid, I'm not 100% sure if it's still fine to go through the steps in that post. How would a noob like myself enable downloads?
